Sponsor Post: Can You Believe There's an App For That?

But Apple has spurred huge numbers of "fringe developers" to mess with our iBrains. Most of these apps cost $0.99, so developers might make money on offerings that make you wonder about the App Store approval process. Some of these apps go where no apps have gone before. Put Things Off is an iPhone task manager worth owning
Calendar16 Fri, 07 Aug 2009 20:30:00 UTC +00:00
I'll admit to being a productivity geek. For me, getting things done is almost as fun as fiddling with my system. After trying every app I could, I've come to a conclusion: Paper is where it's at. There's nothing more flexible and full of potential. You can make arrangements to meet a friend or solve a serious network issue with paper and pen. Most of the apps I used tried to mimic the ease of pen and paper, but none match the flexibility. For me, the iPhone adds another hurdle with the touch keyboard. Here's the bottleneck: I write faster that I type on a full-sized keyboard, and I do both faster than I use the iPhone keyboard. Some iPhone productivity apps require lots of typing, categorizing, tapping and clicking. Tally up the time spent being "productive" with your iPhone and it's not worth it. Just grab a small notebook. It Read More
Put Things Off
Calendar16 Sun, 07 Jun 2009 18:20:35 UTC +00:00
Put Things Off is an application for the iPhone and iPod Touch that helps organize your day to day tasks. Yes, it's another to-do app, but done in a unique way that, in my opinion, really makes it stand out from the others. The app loads very quickly, which is important in a to-do app. It's so frustrating when you really need to get a task on the list fast but have to wait for an app to load. Put Things Off doesn't waste any time. The app initially loads the Inbox. This is the screen where you can just dump your tasks or thoughts into right away. From this screen you can hit the plus sign to add a task, tap the settings menu, or navigate to "today", "put off", and "done" which all appear to be wooden trays with paper in them. When you hit the plus sign to Read More

I think I have tried 20 different list programs. This one is defined by it's simplicity. I deleted the others.
Perfect!
Seeker of Truth 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
This is exactly what an iPhone app should be - quick and simple. The loading times are almost non-existent. You only need the app open for a few seconds to write a quick note to yourself then get back to your life. The app is perfect for what it's been built for.
simple, intuitive, effective, & looks great!
sdt33 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
i like it. straight ahead and not convoluted like the other todo apps.
Great but there are a few UI problems that could be fixed in 20 minutes
tjkombo 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
First off. Great app. Sometimes these GTD programs get overwhelming and keeping them straight is a whole new job.
The best!!
jzbra 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
I don't write many reviews, but this app deserves it and everyone should know about it. It's the best to-do app because of its simplicity and beautiful interface. I needed a to-do app badly, but all the other ones have way too many features and they're too time consuming (and a graphic mess). Put Things Off is exactly what a to-do app should be. Worth every penny - thank you!
Nice app!
ki6ryg 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
For the most part, this is a very well thought out concept - simple and effective. My only problem with it is what others have also mentioned: PLEASE put the "Save" button on the right side, as is standard practice. Right now, the "Cancel" button is where the "Save" button should be, and you have to consciously override habit every time you go to save a new task.
My 3 x 5 index cards days are numbered
Richienow1 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
This app is great. I haven't given up the index cards in my shirt pocket just yet, but it may happen. The only update I would like to see is landscape mode as an option. A larger keyboard would enable typing these cool little notes faster!
Simple = Good
WokaWokaWoka 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
This app does not encumber me by being overly-complex or throwing useless features in my face. Thanks! The UI is pleasing, and reinforces the simplicity of jotting down a simple note. I can tell a lot of thought weng into it, but it could use a little bit more polish; for instance, toning down the emboss effect in the title bar, or, as many others have said, moving the Save button to the right. As someone else noted, the launch times are fast, which is an important consideration if your normal impulse is to grab the closest scrap of paper instead of going to the trouble to launch an app.
Lives in my quick start tray
Michael W A 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
This app stays in my bottom row as it works as advertised! Quick elegant way to jot a quick reminder & go on. The splash screen at startup only lasts a second & lets me know it's loading. I vote no, do not remove splash screen. This apps a keeper.
Should you find yourself in the same situation as me, this app may be just what the doctor ordered!
jgmarcel 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
Before learning about Put Things Off, I relied on one of those fully-fledged apps for my task management needs. Call me a nitpicker, but when creating new tasks I often found myself worrying about minutiae such as:
Worthwhile app
x_phantasmagoria 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
I like this app so far, the system is unique and the interface is great. I only have a few suggestions: - Schedule a task that repeats on a regular basis (example: take out the trash) - Ability to reorder tasks - An icon badge counting "Today" tasks - Optional list view Keep up the good work! I use PTO daily and am looking forward to updates.
Awesome
SamVF 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
Great to do app. Easy to navigate and no unneeded extras. Best to do app I've found by far!
The Best GTD iPhone App
AlohaWorld 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
Simple, yet complete and pretty to look at. I was a big fan of "Things", but "Put Things Off" is so much more straight forward and easy to use. Very happy with this app, on of the best I've purchased.
Excellent! Exactly what I was looking for.
joey joe joe jr. shabado 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
Simple, fun, without all the extra GTD stuff I don't need and won't use. In my opinion, too many features clutter a to-do app and make managing your to-do's a complex task itself.
Love it!!!
TenKai 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
Awesome app- clean, simple, easy!! Perfect for busy people. Buy!!
What a great app!!
District 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
I use this daily. It also serves a reminder for small projects daily, Thumbs up on this one 
Good
Fati70 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
Easy to use. Good concept. Please add an icon badge to show number of tasks due today.
good but...
Hrhdzzbzhab 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
I really like this app, helps me with procrastination problems. But four star because you can't choose backgrounds. I've replaced this with mysticky although mysticky had backgrounds. At least put in a corkboard one as an option plz.
Best to do app I've used on any platform!
FreakyT 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
The app is fast and works well, and has a nice ui.
One Fatal Flaw
TedBater 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
Would be perfect if we could only get a home screen icon that showed the pending tasks for today. Please add this!
Todo's for the rest of us!
oldschoolshull 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
Finally a todo application that works the way I do. Keep up the great work! I'm gonna mirror what others have been saying on that a notification badge for todays items would be great addition. Also wouldn't mind an option to open to todays items by default. Thanks again for making a great app.
nice app
badraa 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
so far this is my favorite to-dos app in the app store,,, it's so speed to type a task and edit it .. and very clean Ul.. love and it's wort it :)
Todo's for the rest of us!
oldschoolshull 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
Finally a todo application that works the way I do. Keep up the great work! I'm gonna mirror what others have been saying that a notification badge for todays items would be great addition. I had been hoping for an option to open to todays items by default. Thanks to an active developer (already 2 updates in less than a month) who is conscientious of customer requests, this feature has now been implemented. Thanks again for making a great app.
One suggestion
Joe118 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
This is hands down the best to do list i've ever seen, and I've used almost every single one in the app store. I just have one suggestion. It would be so useful if at the bottom of the square that contains each task, the due date was displayed if we put one in. That is the only thing holding me back from giving this app 5 stars.
It's amazing how simply gtd can be
Tibbs8119 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I have tried just about about every to do or Gtd app in the app store ad I could never seem to stick with one. After using this app I realize it is the simplicity that is missing from most. I don't have time to tag all kinds of contexts and how long something will take, I just want something to remind me that there is something I need to do. The program is great. My only request is the ability to have a task repeat without much complication, I don't want to have to type certain tasks over and over. Other than that app is awesome!
Avoid the heart-break of to-do app bloat.
Lonesome Mac 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
Very nearly a great app, but needs: 1) icon badge showing number of items due today; 2) ability to create repeating tasks. Will give one more star for each. The app for people who want to spend their precious time doing things instead of diddling around with app features.
Very Pleased
andypants85 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
Being a visual guy and a procrastinator, this app has been the perfect tool for me. I've already been more productive because it's an app I WANT to use
Intuitive, perfect for those who use to-do lists but don't need another headache
benny727 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
This little app is perfect for to-do users who don't want to have to spend an hour every morning organizing their day. It's simple. You type in your to-do's and every day check your inbox. If you need to do it that day, star it. If you don't, send it to the later box (and you can set this for 1-30 days). Do-it-later tasks will appear again when you pre-set them to do so. Very neat. You can figure it out in two minutes. Nice work. If you love to organize with a list, this is worth it.
Great app
Mkoooo33 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I was hesitant to buy this app but it is worth every penny....unlike other to do apps, it is just a straightforward to do list. I can definitely see myself using this everyday.
Great App
keeev 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
Finally found a "to do" app that I'm sticking with. Tried others and was always bothered by priority lists and all the other junk that came with them. All I need to know is if I want to do something today or not, and this is perfect. Great UI and flawless performance thus far. I agree with others, badge on home screen would be icing on the cake, sure it's coming in the future.
So far my fav.
m1ng1st3ch 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I like what they have so far. But I agree with others it needs a badge icon for today items. Having this app on my 1st page makes a badge icon the perfect reminder to finish that sheet up!
Fantastic for visual learners to stay organized!
waveres 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
This is the perfect app for visual learners to stay organized. I've only had this app for one day, but I can tell it is making a difference. I'm a person who needs to see things spread out a bit before I can organize myself, and this app covers that in a simple and hassle-free way.
Really useful Task Manager
mu1234 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
Like many others I have tried numerous task managers and all have their faults. After using PTO for 2 weeks I really like it. It is very easy to stay organized and focused. To keep it uncluttered I only use it for the most pressing issues and for tasks that are tied to a date. For all the other stuff I need to get around to I keep 4 notes tied to contexts in Apple Mail that sync with my iphone and are easy to edit and scan every few days. I can always add items from these lists to PTO when they become pressing.
Too simple
d1g 1t 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
The put-it-off-for-3-days idea, with tasks automatically popping up later is pure genious. I love that this app doesn't tie you down with tags and contexts, etc. But in some ways it goes too far toward simplicity. For example, I want my grocery shopping list all on one screen. Maybe have a "serious" mode that shows more info and less graphic fluff? Still glad I bought this app, and hope the developer takes the core idea further towards real-world use.
Would be perfect if user could backup or sync data
Binnco 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I try to use only data input apps that feature a "backup" export or sync method.
Another regretted impulse buy
Tedblue126 2.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
At first glance, Put Things Off looks like a simple, easy to-do list manager. However, this is greatly overpriced. As a user of Things by Cultured Code, Put Things Off doesn't even support half the features that Things does. Its "Put Off" feature - making it even easier to never get anything done, only encourages procrastination which is exactly the opposite of what a good productivity application should do. Don't waste your money on this, there are plenty of better alternatives out there.
Too simple
Annaush 2.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I currently use the calender for errands, appts, tests, assmts but wanted something a little quicker to use. My main problem with this is that I get a big block of things I "put off" instead of a chronological view of when things need to get done. You have to click on the task to see the date which kind of made it useless for me. You also can't organize things for that day in a particular order
Finally - a To Do List I can use!
veggirl1964 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I've never been a GTD fan -- too much work and time spent putting things in categories and breaking them down, etc. I just want something to remind me what I need to do today. This app does it perfectly. I look in my Today box and either do the stuff or decide it can wait and one simple tap puts it off for 3 days (you can set the default time to suit your needs). Putting something on my list takes seconds, not minutes. The only thing I'd add is a badge on the icon to tell at a glance how many things are left without opening up the application, but that's not enough for me to mark off a star. The other eight To Do List apps I have bought are now retired!
Simple, beautiful, and effective
Blindauer 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
After trying nearly every to do app in the store, I've settled on this one. It's simple to use, and looks great. If you'd like to spend your time getting things done rather than endlessly maintaining your to do list, this app is for you.
Great App
keeev 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Finally found a "to do" app that I'm sticking with. Tried others and was always bothered by priority lists and all the other junk that came with them. All I need to know is if I want to do something today or not, and this is perfect. Great UI and flawless performance thus far. New update with icon badge makes it perfect!
Fantastic. One request...
The Eclectic 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
I use this app all the time now. It I'd the only to do app I've ever used consistently because it is do simple and intuitive. My only request is to have the option of REORDERING ITEMS in the display by simply TOUCHING AND DRAGGING much as you do apps on the home screen of the iPhone. If this feature were added I would feel this app is near perfect. Thank you so much for making this. A fantastic approach to to do apps!
