The App Store is a labyrinthine place, and it's easy to get lost in it. Many gamers just stick to the top 10 or 25 apps and base their purchases on those, ignoring everything else. To help you out, we've made it our mission to search out the best games available, regardless of whether they're the best selling or not. Here's our list of the top 20 iOS games that launched in the first quarter of 2012. 20. Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy There's a reason Apple invited Namco onstage at this year's iPad event to show off Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy-- it looks great, especially if you play it on the new iPad. But whatever device you play it on, you'll be soaring across the skies and gunning down bogies. The controls are tight as a drum and the missions come in an impressive number of varieties. Puzzlejuice Review
Calendar16 Wed, 22 Feb 2012 13:32:04 UTC +00:00
Posted 02/22/2012 at 5:32am | by Nathan Meunier Who doesn’t want their brain punched in the face? Puzzlejuice makes the bizarre prospect a lot more fun than it sounds by combining aspects of Tetris and Boggle into one real pressure-cooker of a puzzler. Matching colored blocks and chaining letters to quickly clear the screen as red, turquoise, and yellow hell rains down from above adds a dizzying twist to a familiar formula -- one that’s bound to titillate puzzle addicts and word nerds alike. As each multi-colored puzzle piece slowly descends, you rotate, drag, and jockey it into position to match up larger groups of the same color blocks. Meanwhile, tapping these formations transforms them into letters, and the only way to clear the debris away is by creating words to destroy adjacent blocks. Completing special objectives earns you unlockable power-ups – like bombs, drills, and the oh-so-cool “letter nuke” – Read More

Daily iPad App: Puzzlejuice
Calendar16 Mon, 23 Jan 2012 13:05:00 UTC +00:00
Puzzlejuice is an inventive new game from the creators of Solipskier. Mike and Greg have created a hardcore puzzle game that spans the genre and lets you sort it all out. The basic mechanic of Puzzlejuice is more or less that of Tetris. Blocks fall from the top of the screen which you must arrange into complete lines. Once you do, however, they don't disappear. Instead, the blocks become a row of letters, which you must arrange to complete words (similar to the great Spelltower) for points. Tapping on colored blocks in matched rows of three or more turns them into letters too, and depending on which mode you're in, matched words will also explode other blocks, and powerups may even drop in the blocks you're matching. Acheivements like spelling a word of a certain length also keep you on your toes, as does powerup management. If that sounds confusing, you're Read More
[iOS-Game] Puzzlejuice
Calendar16 Sat, 21 Jan 2012 17:07:20 UTC +00:00
Update: Twitter nachlesen lohnt: Die Kollegen von Superlevel hatten Read More

Puzzlejuice is an amazing new game from Asher Vollmer for the iPhone and iPad that combines elements of word puzzle games with Tetris and new school touchscreen gameplay. You will not only be playing a block dropping game but also have to focus on your multitasking skills and challenge your vocabulary. Every once in a while an iOS game breaks new ground and delivers something ingenious, and Puzzlejuice is definitely going to leave a lasting impression. This game is on sale right now for 99c so be sure to grab it, especially if you love brain tease style puzzlers. The concept in the Puzzlejuice game is pretty simple. You slam blocks of colored boxes down as they drop to form a solid line. That’s where the Tetris similarities end because a filled line doesn’t automatically get removed from the board. Here’s where the word puzzler part of Puzzlejuice kicks in. As Read More
If you enjoy Tetris, match-3 games and Boggle, then Puzzlejuice [99¢] from Colaboratory might be right up your alley. That's because this falling-block, color-matching, word-finding mash-up combines these things into a nice-looking bundle of pleasure. Puzzlejuice starts with falling puzzle-blocks, just like Tetris. You can rotate each falling block by tapping the screen or drag it left or right. A ghost image of the block shows where it will end up at the bottom. When you're happy with the position of the block, you can swipe it downwards to speed up its descent. And the idea is to form a solid row. That should all sound fairly familiar for anyone who knows Tetris, but that's just the start of this game. When you form a solid row of blocks across the playing area, instead of disappearing, the blocks turn into letters. And to make the letters disappear, you must draw a Read More

Really fantastic! The perfect balance of familiar elements brought together to create a whole new experience (with a great sense of humor) that is far more than the sum of its parts. Easy to pick up and play - yet engaging enough to captivate for hours. Highly recommended -- I'll be playing this one for quite some time.
