Update: RDM+ now offers a Lite version
Calendar16 Tue, 25 May 2010 21:56:39 UTC +00:00
A few months ago, I reviewed Remote Desktop for Mobiles (RDM+) which is an excellent way to remotely control a desktop station from your mobile device (available in the App Store here). This has saved me on multiple occasions: whether to help trouble shoot when my wife can ‘t get something to work correctly on our home station; to start an application (like the frequently-failing Orb or even MajicJack); or locate a file and even email it remotely. Recently the folks at SHAPE Services have released a free ad-supported version in the App Store, RDM+ Lite. I don ‘t have the Lite version so I can ‘t make comment about the impact of streaming ads will have on the speed of operating remotely. Nor do I anticipate the ads ‘ gobbling up valuable real estate on the screen to be very appetizing. I can, however, report with confidence that RDM+ is Read More
SHAPE Services, the company behind the popular iDevice IM app IM+ (TMA Review), has just released a free, ad-supported version of their best-selling remote control application, RDM+. By utilizing both the app on your iPhone/iPod Touch and the (free) desktop RDM server, users can easily access and manage their home and office computers remotely. Chiffan reviewed RDM+ several months ago and had this to say: To sum it all up, RDM+ is the best remote control software I’ve seen thus far on the iPhone. While it has its limitations (the single-screen access and the fixed refresh time), the ability to work through ANY firewall, the easy setup, and the excellent and ultra-fast interface make it unrivalled if you find yourself in need of putting in that extra bit of work on the PC but are out. If remote access to your computer(s) is something you’d like to accomplish, RDM+ Lite is Read More
LogMeIn – VNC-Fernsteuerung vom iPhone und iPad
Calendar16 Thu, 15 Apr 2010 13:19:07 UTC +00:00

If you have never used Remote Desktop software, it will change the way you think about working from locations far from a home or office workstation. For the past few years, I ‘ve used Windows ‘ Remote Desktop client on both a Mac or a PC through a VPN (virtual private network) to work from a distant place, print a document for someone at the office, or save the day by locating a missing file and email it to myself when I ‘m on-site. Now the option of using the iPhone for remote desktop access presents itself, and I thought I might completely freak out: now it should be possible to do the same tasks on-the-go without having to find a wifi hotspot! I ‘ve been using RDM+ Remote Access for over a month on my iPhone and I have to say: this little gem might never leave my device. While Read More
Homescreens – Januar 2010
Calendar16 Mon, 04 Jan 2010 11:01:45 UTC +00:00
The remote access tools provider RDM+ is having a sale, with its iPhone/iPod touch app available for $1.99 (iTunes link). This is a significant reduction from the normal $20 price. RDM+ allows users to control desktop computers from mobile devices. The software comes in several versions covering many mobile devices, including the iPhone/iPod touch, BlackBerry (which WWD reviewed in 2008), Windows Mobile, Palm and Java-enabled phones. There is also a web version. In order to control a computer, one must have the desktop software (free, available for Windows or Mac) running. Setup is easy, and doesn’t require any special rules to deal with firewalls or dynamic IP addresses. During the setup process, one registers the desktop, and it is assigned a computer number, which is then used to access the machine remotely, together with a username and password combination you create. RDM+ works well. With the software that the company provided Read More

iPhone Remote Control Apps: Reach Out and Touch Your Mac
Calendar16 Fri, 02 Oct 2009 17:00:09 UTC +00:00
Isn’t it the dream of every slacker to sit in bed, or at the beach, and make it appear like you are putting a full day at the office? Well, there’s an app for that. Enter the variety of remote control apps for the iPhone, which let you operate your desktop Mac from your iPhone as if you were sitting in front of it. Some of these apps use the common VNC protocol to allow remote control, and others use their own proprietary methods. All of them will let you control your Mac (or a PC) from your iPhone. Jaadu is the most polished and powerful of all the iPhone remote control clients. It offers SSH encrypted VNC, which is a key feature if you connect to your Mac via public Wi-Fi networks, although the SSH encryption in Jaadu doesn’t operate with Snow Leopard Macs (Jugari promises a fix soon). The actual remote Read More
SHAPE Services has a new application in the AppStore called RDM+. It’s a remote desktop app, that allows iPhone/iPod Touch users to access their PCs on the go. As expected, RDM+ Desktop application is required to be installed on any computer you want to control, and when that’s done, you’re free to access it [your computer] from wherever you happen to be. Feature wise, RDM+ supports: At the moment, SHAPE is running a campaign offering RDM+ at 50% off the original price. Don't ge it!
Zea1 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
The mouse does not work it all! The app drags big time. If you want to waste $10 like I did! Go ahead buy it!
Amazing. It's like magic.
Sky_is_high 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Too good. Must have application. And it's half its usual price. Yaay !!!
Not good
D. Dell 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Jaadu's controls are much better. Plus the screen is faster and more responsive. However, Jaadu is more difficult to set up. Try Jaadu first.
Wow, it is really working!
Panoramic 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Love the feature set and controls. Does what it suppose to do -- helps to operate the remote computer from iPhone and provides elegantly simple controls for this task.
Great product and works wonderfully
Crookedtrails 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I had this on my windows phone before, but this is even a better program.
Don't beieve 5 star REVIEWS!!! Look at "Panoramic" other ratings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
donnieanton 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Now I am upset, obviously false 5 star ratings!! Look at rating history for "Panoramic" (just click name) Wow all apps from this developer (shape) have 5 stars?!?!?!?!? DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No customer support!!!! Having issue with downloading files to iPhone and dual display not displaying screen with taskbar. Contacted support so let's see if it gets resolved. Do not like mouse control at all. Jaadu seems better in that aspect.
Solid app! I use Mac version and it works fine
iQuetzalcoatl 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I would give it 5 stars if refresh rate would be a bit higher.
Needs work
deadphotomac 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Very easy to set up and get connected after that good luck. If you have password on your screen saver don't bother.
No good....mouse is horrible!!!!!!!! Dual monitor display issues
donnieanton 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Now I am upset, obviously false 5 star ratings!! Look at rating history for "ArchPhone" (just click name), they actually went out of their way to change their name from "Panoramic" after reading my original review!! All apps from this developer (Shape Services) have 5 stars?!?!?!?!? Well nice try losers, stop trying to cheat your customers and be honest!!! Having issue with downloading files to iPhone and dual display not displaying screen with taskbar. Contacted support so let's see if it gets resolved. Do not like mouse control at all. Jaadu seems better in that aspect. Update: wow the mouse control is horrible. No longer useable... Update: still waiting on customer service. I see they changed the webpage description and the "file manager" option is gone, which promise data transfer to and from mobile device. Great that's why I bought it........ Update: hmm so website gave false features and now I am stuck paying $10....oh well maybe one day app will be worth it, but not now. Mouse control is poorly designed and if you run 2 monitors it only shows primary display, so if your windows taskbar(start menu) is on monitor 2, app will not work.
Wow, quick fast and easy to install plus on sale to boot!
Rkkeller 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I had used RDM+ many years ago on my BB and am glad to see it now on the iPhone. I was a little worried about getting it after some of the reviews here but my experience is completely different.
You people
Djosho 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Why complaining so much. Why bad reviews. The app does what it sais. Nothing less or more. Set up is as easy as it can get. And the price of $20 - nothing. For the price of 4-5 sturbucks cofees you get to access you PC from anywhere in the world. App is great. If that is what you are looking for get it. Worth every penny.
Excellent app
mtlhddan 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I can now remote to all the computers in my house from anywhere in the world. This is so awesome!!! Some of the reviewers are mistaken. The $29.95 application is only needed if you want to connect from another PC's web browser. I'm connected to all my PC's via my iphone for just the $9.99 I paid for the app ... That's it. Great work on the app!!!
Does not work... Good
CdavidLaw 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I paid $10 and this app does nothing. Update: After about ten tries I did get the desktop app to work and connect it to the iPhone app. The reason I can't update the stars yet is it is still not usefull. There are two major problems that I have which may or may not effect other users. 1. The mouse on the iPhone app does not align properly with the mouse on the screen making it almost impossible to use the app unless I am looking at the monitor. 2. The app is slugish to update. If I click something on the desktop it will take 5 seconds to see if I did anything which can be especially frustrating because of the first problem.
Rip off!!
kurufen 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I like the idea of the app... That's why I bought it... But what I didn't count on was the extra software you need to download which they said would be "free" to download would cost $25 for the license to use!! they robbed me with $10 now I have a useless application!!!
Taken advantage of by Rdm+
Outwayne, Wv 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I paid $9.99 for the App and then found out this after 2hrs of research why my App quit working!! "SHAPE Services would like to provide you with high-quality and most up-to-date applications corresponding with your personal and professional needs. Please note that we offer free trial for most of our applications. Trial period length varies from 5 to 14 days depending on application. We recommend you to take advantage of free trial before making decision whether to buy our software or not." So, I'm stuck with a $10 app that only works for 5-14 days and nothing is free for your desktop Rdm+. $24.99!!!!!!!! For each PC!!!!!
Great program
drd03 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Very easy to setup, and easy to use. Does exactly what I want it to do, access my office network.
Does what you'd expect
Rognetties 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
There was additional software to download to the tune of a whopping 2MB, for free. Does what remote desktop is supposed to do.
Not fun at ALL
TLinTucson 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've had a mac since 1984. Have had iPhones since the day they first came out. I am no beginner. This app is the MOST frustrating iPhone app Ive ever downloaded. I do NOT recommend this app to anyone. The keys don't work how they should. The cursor is not actually where you think it is. Nothing is as it should be except that, yes, you can SEE your computers screen. So what? Save your ten dollars. This isn't even worth ninety nine cents.
What a POS
Walleye master 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I had rdm on my BB and Tilt (win mobile) it worked awesome for years but this iPhone app is worthless the mouse is way off and cant even be used. I have been waiting for a fix for months. I noticed every time someone writes a bad review someone posts a 5 star what a joke! Beware.
Worked fine for me
SVC 1-7 FA 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Purchased and used it today. Running Mac OS X 10.6.1 (Snow Leopard). Worked without a hitch. Have only used it over a local WiFi network, but it worked fine. Every few months I have to run a lengthy set of routines that extract data records from various electronic models, bring those records into a database, and run additional routines on the data once there. I do it on a laptop, it involves a couple million records, and takes quite a bit of time. I got tired of being tied to my desk, just wating for things to run, or to wait for the next prompt from the system. There are other things I could do. This worked great. It allowed me to monitor operations from a distance, while doing something else, and to respond to system prompts, to begin the next operation or routine.
Does not work... Good

Update: still no luck with this app, decided to try logmein app, works perfectly, if you are looking for remote login then checkout logmein as the service works great.
Work in progress
GMAN901 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
The app seems to work well with Mac OSX. I was quickly able to connect to my desktop and it is awesome to scan and zoom around the desktop on the iPhone! There's one BIG problem with this app...the mouse button will not left click or double click anywhere on the desktop from the iPhone screen. This is a huge problem! The right button seems to work, but that's about it. I could not click on applications to open them or click on any hyperlinks from my safari web page that I had to open with a regular mouse. I hope they release an update soon to fix this issue because the application is pretty much useless without a functioning cursor that can click and open items on my desktop. Once they fix the app, I will give another review and hopefully it will be higher. At this time, I could not recommend purchasing this application.
Desktop download is now free!
Outwayne, Wv 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've used RDM for about 4 months. It doesn't work well in the landscape mode, but I haven't had any problems with it holding my phone in the upright position. When I first bought RDM for $10.00, It was for a 15 day trial period and I was asked to pay $25.00 for every computer. NOW...it's 10 bucks forever and the computer RDM programs are free. GOOD JOB GUYS!!!! Seems like they have tried hard to fix our complaints. I use it everyday with no problems. The setup instructions are difficult, but once you figure it out, you can access all of your computers (one at a time) just by pressing one button. I have up graded this app from 1 star to 4!!! Thanks for the free desktop downloads!!!!!! Saved me $75.00!!!

essentially unusable in its present state
zipply 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Compared to jaadu, this app is agonizingly slow, and the mouse is so offset as to make its use completely impractical. Only positive I can give this one is a simpler setup, but that doesn't begin to salvage the rating. Needs work. A whooole lotta work.
Works, but there issues
bubbamcgee 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've read all the other reviews, and can address some of the issues people are having. The app works. Yes there is a delay of about 5 seconds, which is especially annoying when the mouse doesn't click what you are trying to click. This problem occurs in landscape view, where a click results in clicking something else above where you are trying to click. In regular view the clicks are accurate. I had a lot of difficulty in setting it up. The guide is useless. The Shape team was prompt in answering my emails, but it was difficult to get them to understand what was going wrong with my setup. Finally I took a camera shot of a screen I was trying to work with in the setup and I emailed if to them. From there they were able to help me finish the setup. Bottom line is once you work through the kinks, the app is pretty good.
Great product and works wonderfully
Crookedtrails 5.0 stars Version: 2.0.94
I had this on my windows phone before, but this is even a better program. I love that there is not a monthly fee.
This is great!!
AmplifyDefiance 5.0 stars Version: 2.0.94
This is a great application. Very easy to set up. It does lag at times, but no more than any other remote desktop I've used. I'd like if you could shake the phone to make the four buttons disappear or something like that. Other than that, I love this.
Worth the price!
KrisssRee 5.0 stars Version: 2.2.21
I downloaded this while it was on sale just to give it a try and found it very useful for me. Desktop navigation is very simple with streamlined UI. There was a problem with mouse positioning in landscape mode, but last update fixed it.
Thanks for last update!
Little JA 5.0 stars Version: 2.2.21
It is getting better. I gave you 5 stars (was 2) after the update
Very impressed!

This app is amazing its really wort the money!! I have acces to 4 computers with out any problems!! The only thing that lacks is been able to hear the sounds that the computer is producing thats the only thing ill ask for Thanks keep up the good work you guys rock!!!
Definitely impressed!!!
EastonKelly 5.0 stars Version: 2.2.21
Downloaded the desktop software, installed and set up my account. Got a small "can't connect" issue first then doublechecked and entered the account name and password matching on the iPhone and desktop. The desktop loads up very fast, zooming works fine and I can move the mouse around and run programs. Great job, worth the price.
Amazing app...
iPhone Convert 4.0 stars Version: 2.2.21
It works wonderfully and is SIGNIFICANTLY easier to set up than the competing apps I've used. Full recommendation.
Awesome!
