This year, we saw a massive explosion in the AppStore of many applications and developers. However, if you were to ask me “who could roast the most?” I would easily have to say Chillingo, EA Mobile, Gameloft, and Ngmoco who took over in terms of presence, quality, and plain fun. Defender Chronicles This group had a good selection of pick up and play titles. It’s hard to say which ONE title stood out the most from Chillingo, so here goes the top three which I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a good game. Coming in third is Defender Chronicles – Legend of the Desert King. Unlike other tower defense games, Defender Chronicles combines story with gameplay. For anyone who has never played a tower defense game, this one would serve as the gateway into the genre. Landing in second place is iDracula. iDracula got much appraise for its truly amazing Read More

Calendar16 Tue, 04 Aug 2009 21:47:41 UTC +00:00
It’s about that time again, time for another massive list of great games that are on sale in the App Store.  Some of the games listed below are actually on sale for the very first time, so there may just be something for everyone. Puzzle Quest Chapter 1 and 2: This is one of my personal favorites.  Puzzle Quest features the usual match-three style gameplay, but throws in an RPG element that will having you constantly coming back for more.  The game has been available at the price of $7.99 for the longest time, but it is now on sale for only $4.99. Guinness World Records: Contains a wide variety of mini-games, online leader boards, single-device multiplayer, and the ability to customize your characters.  They are also holding a contest for the best player.  If it’s you, your name will be in the 2010 Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition.  Normally priced Read More
F.A.S.T., Real Soccer 2009, Virtual Villagers. $0.99 Each!

August 2nd, 2009 James Isabel As it turns out, yesterday’s Saturday Surplus Sales was somewhat a failure having failed to see these awesome $0.99t titles. And oh, Sunday is still an “S” day so it’s equally replaceable, ha! SGN unleashes their first premium game. It comes close if not better to Gameloft’s Top Gun air fighter simulator. It’s come a long way from its first price ($9.99), be sure to check it out at tenth that! This game turned out quite to be a surprise to some soccer and Gameloft fans. It nails down graphic, gameplay and controls perfectly. This game is a must have for sports fans! We’ve reviewed the sequel from quite some time ago. But this original is not to be missed, especially at this price. The graphics are tremendously differnt but doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a doodoo. We hope these three games satisfy your $0.99 sale cravings Read More
Earlier today, Apple announced that iPhone and iPod touch users have now downloaded over 1.5 billion applications. According to Apple, there are now also over 100,000 developers in the iPhone Developer Program and over 65,000 apps in the store. The number of actual iPhone developers might be a bit lower than Apple reports, as a lot of people only joined the paid version of the program to get their hands on the betas of the iPhone 3.0 OS, but there can be little doubt that the App store is a runaway success, both for Apple and developers. Given this huge success of the App Store, it is worth thinking about the factors that contributed to the App Store's success and what Apple could do to make the store even better. Some other platforms had something similar to the App Store long before Apple, and others are still trying to copy the Read More

'Real Soccer 2009' Also Gets Slashed Down to $0.99
Calendar16 Wed, 24 Jun 2009 18:24:14 UTC +00:00
You know it's a tough market when mega publisher Gameloft starts slashing their prices on their games. Real Soccer 2009 [App Store] is the latest Gameloft title to find a price drop to $0.99. This particular game has seen increased competition with the release of [$6.99] which has seen solid reviews favoring it over : Still, $0.99 can be hard to compete against, and Real Soccer 2009 is remains a pretty solid title. Here's our early video of Real Soccer 2009 when it was first released:   #3   11-30-2011, 12:17 PM Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2009 Posts: 5 User Review from iTunes USA Store: Score: 5/5 "This is a good little time killer. Tell us a little about you, and your current company. I’m a simple iPhone fan that decided to develop application for this Apple’s jewel. I’m a student (engineer) and I love mobile programming. And when Apple distributed his SDK, I was very happy!!! About your background: what did you do before taking up iPhone development? I’m a simple student at University, so I only study. What apps have you developed so far? Tell us about your apps in brief. So far I’ve developed two iPhone applications. First was  Interest Calculator, a finance application that calculates interests.I developed this only to test my skills about iPhone programming, and to test App Store mechanism. But in Italy and in other App Stores it became popular, and it was the top application in Finance Category for 2-3 weeks. My second application was Real Drums, a music application that turns iPhone into professional drums. I developed Read More

Decent Mobile Football Game; Misleading Description
Alexander Repty 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.3
I was a little nervous about spending $9.99 on the game without having a chance to try it first, but it turns out it was an overall good purchase. The game offers great gameplay, making good use of the iPhone's control capabilities. During play, you have an on-screen d-pad and two buttons (A and B). The d-pad controls movement, tapping any direction twice will cause the player to sprint. The A and B buttons are for shooting and passing, respectively. Holding buttons longer or using gestures in combination with a button tap cause the player to use variations of the actions, such as a lob shot or a through pass. While dribbling, the player can perform tricks by tapping on the screen or using gestures. There is a training mode which helps learn the controls.
Deep, fluid gameplay with tons of options.
GitarooFreeFlow 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.3
This is my first full price app. Here's the quick breakdown: I am totally surprised at the all around depth of this game. Very smooth, fluid animations create a great sense of flow to the game. That's the most important thing to nail but then the controls are extremely simple yet end up getting pretty deep. For instance in the beginning you'll pass and shoot on offense and press on defense. Eventually you'll be leading guys with your lob passes, setting up one-timers, doing a few dekes (the important moves are all there and easy to pull off), switching defensive players and slide tackling, sprinting, faking shots, and rushing the goal keeper among other moves.
A must have...
Argentino2008 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.3
...for the true football fan!!! Awesome graphics, great variety of teams and realistic movement of players make this an AMAZING BARGAIN for such a well done game!!! My compliments to the developers for posting the best game up to date!!!
This is what gaming on the iPod should be
Korexz 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.3
I am seriously impressed. I watched video of the game play and thought okay, but how difficult is it to play with your fingers using up 30% of the screen? Not difficult at all, do the training mode to get all the controls down, there is more than meets the eye. The A and B buttons have modifiers, so holding A while swiping up is a lob kick vs. holding it down for a straight kick. There is a third button too, the empty playing field. So when you look at the controls and think "How much can I really do in this game?" the answer is quite a bit.
Seriously good :)
2kittens1cup 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.3
This is a pretty good soccer game. I'm impressed. It crashed once on me, but overall its a very good game.
Surprisingly Good!
Magicked 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.3
I'm usually very hesitant to download anything that cost more than $0.00, but I gave this one a shot. I love it! The gameplay is simple with two buttons, but the developers made good use of the touch screen to add moves and various passing techniques. There are numerous game modes as well, such as league play, penalty shootout, and cup mode. Definitely worth the money!
Great game!
gpot 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.3
I am really surprised at how well this game plays. True, the players lack detail but it really doesn't bother me. The music is great, the croud chants, the controls are responsive, but most important it is fun. The game feels complete; nothing seemed to be hastily done. Some are complaining about the $10 cost of the game but I see no reason why it should be any cheaper. It's a terrific game. Well worth the money.
Just like Pro Evo
asangurai 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.3
If anyone has ever played the early Pro Evolution Soccer or Winning Eleven games, this is just like that on the iPhone. Plenty of national and league teams (including a few "classic" teams, too), good graphics, decent AI, and pretty deep set of controls.
WOW..not bad for a phone game.
ronnyron 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.3
I'm only giving it 4 stars, but its easily a 5 star game. If you've played FIFA Soccer on PS2, this apple didn't fall far from the tree.
PSP for sale
koalition 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.3
This is a shockingly good football game The controls has some quirks, but I am really surprised at how decent it works. Looks good for the future of gaming for the Iphone platform. Good work!
Simply amazing
DHendrix 5.0 stars Version: 1.2.0
The best game made for the iPhone. The gameplay and graphics are incredible. It's like playing FIFA 2006. I highly recommend it
Nice app but could be better?
hherbie690 5.0 stars Version: 1.2.0
Overall a great game but the controls could be a tad bit better especially on defense but not bad at all.

The wifi multiplayer is only LOCAL.
Lots of content and impressive visuals, but frustrating control
RafiParrr 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.3
Bought this a couple weeks ago. It looks really slick for an ipod game, and there's a ton of stuff included, with around 200 teams, league and cup modes as well as the usual exhibition mode. The only problem is that it's a pain to control. As we learned from Super Mario 64 DS, putting directional controls on a touch screen simply doesn't work well, and I find that moving around is horribly imprecise and uncomfortable. Though it is commendable that gameloft managed to allow for all kinds of pass and trick options with such a simply control setup, the fact remains that if you can't control your guys, then the game becomes really frustrating.
Best game app yet
FIFA fan 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.3
This is the second game app I bought and by far the best. Very similar to EA's FIFA series. If you like soccer games, this is a no brainer.
AMAZING

FIFA for iphone & itouch period
Excellent Game!
indyrudas 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.3
I really am surprised to see how many people are complaining about the price. I think they still have the mentality that this is a cell phone game (i.e. one you'd play on your Motorola RAZR), and if that were the case, they'd be justified, but this is a full console type game. 10 bucks is a steal if you consider the quality of the game. I'd like to see what games you can get for 10 bucks on a DS or PSP. That said, I love this game. The controls are responsive and easy to learn. I was worried about having the buttons on screen, but it's really not bad at all, and you'd be surprised at how well they actually work. This is by far the best game I've purchased for my iPod Touch.
Still Shocked By iPhone's Power
EV3R 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.3

Not so much....
Oyipggy 1.0 stars Version: 1.2.0
I am sick of how many apps are amazingly overrated. This is no exception, (For now). Don't get me wrong, I liked this game at first. I played it on easy. I was having fun. Then, once I started winning 22-0, I decided to move up to normal. I played that for a while. Still fun. So I decided I was good enough for hard. No. Not even close. This is when I noticed the game's inherent problems. The first, and most important, is that your players only move left, right, up, or down. They dont run diagonally on their own. The AI gets full control of all 11 players, and you get full control of 1. Now, I realize the impossibility of controlling 11 players at once, but your teammates should at least be as smart as the AI. The second problem is the controls. They are terrible at performing anything but the most basic functions. It is difficult to sprint, let alone change direction. Changing directions is especially impossible when you have already made a pass to a teammate, and you realize its going to be short. You cannot turn your player around to get it. This is also a problem when you notice an AI player coming to intercept your pass, even if its a short one. You cannot make your player go get it, he must instead continue along his route he was running before. Neither can you play defense effectively, which is problem #3. Actually it cant be done. The AI, on hard at least, is good. They pass, a lot. (Oh, short sidenote. You would think this is an effective strategy for your own offense, but since passing is so terrible, it never works.) Anyway, since your players are too dumb to intercept passes, and the game randomly switches players, all sorts of problems ensue. Oh, also the ref or w/e u wanna call it is awful. The AI never gets fouls, nor cards. Even if its a blatant foul. Also, why can you stand in front of the keeper when he kicks it? That's completely illegal, and usually ends up in a card.
Best iPhone app yet

I'm still new to it, but in my opinion it is the best app so far for the iphone. Get it you won't be disappointed. Good graphics and game play.

Baller24:7 5.0 stars Version: 1.4.8
I don't even play any of the other games I payed 4! Great app, if u have the money 4 it, get it! Not the fake do watever soccer. The real thing. Loads insanely fast. Omg I just can't belive it's .99 cent!!! I paid a whole 6 bucks 4 it!! I don't get money often and I think they owe us that back tho.
Great game.
Squizerl 4.0 stars Version: 1.5.2
This is a really great game! It's the best, most addictive game on my phone, but I have a few suggestions. You should have the option to turn off the way the active player automatically switches. This feature gets pretty frustrating. The directional controls need some improvement too. Often times I'll be in full sprint down the field and my player will just stop. All in all this is truly a great game.
