When prompted via Twitter by Xperia Play fan site XperiaGamer when we might see Reckless Racing 2, the sequel to 2010's excellent top-down arcade racer Reckless Racing [99¢/Lite/HD], the game's developer Polarbit responded that we can expect the game to hit next week on February 2nd. We really liked the original Reckless Racing in our review, and the sequel looks to up the ante with a fleshed-out single-player campaign, longer tracks, and improved visuals over the already gorgeous first game. We've come to expect EA to never mess around with its sales, and we're pleased to report that it certainly isn't messing around with its latest. From now, and presumably until shortly after New Years Day, all of the publisher's gargantuan premium catalogue is an agreeable $.99. That means games like Madden 12, Trenches II, and many others have been reduced up to 90-percent off the original asking price. Whoa, right? This same sale happened last year around this time, too. Last Fall, Pixelbite Games brought us Reckless Racing [99¢/HD], an arcade-style top-down racer with gorgeous graphics, great controls, and a fun physics system. We really liked Reckless Racing in our review, and now Pixelbite has announced a follow up to the game titled Reckless Getaway. The “getaway” in the title refers to the different approach to the gameplay in this new game. Instead of standard race tracks, there will be 16 different tracks that feature a long stretch of terrain filled with objects and other traffic to avoid. The studio has kicked off its own Fathers’ Day celebration on the App Store, slashing prices for several of its action and sports-oriented titles. Big names like FIFA 11 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Madden 11 have been reduced to pennies, while others are receiving generous discounts. Dead Space, for example, is now just $3. Overall, there’s over a dozen EA-published games available at 85-percent off the normal rate. A little over a month ago, the long-awaited top-down arcade racer Reckless Racing [99¢/HD] was finally released in the App Store. We really enjoyed the game in our original review, noting that it was downright beautiful to look at and quite a bit of fun to play. Our biggest problem with Reckless Racing though was its severe lack of content. With only 5 tracks to race on in the iPhone version, the game felt like it was over before it began. Reversed versions of these tracks and online functionality went a good deal towards stringing out the play time somewhat, but it still felt entirely too short. Now it seems that publisher EA Mobile and developer Pixelbite are working towards rectifying this problem, and have detailed an update to Reckless Racing in our forums that will add some additional content to the game. Reckless Racing HD is one of those racing games that I believe has been missing ever since the App Store came into existence. The app takes on the challenge of providing a fun arcade experience while still providing a competitive game. The game takes after some popular classics found in old arcades with its bird's-eye view and extra-sensitive controls. It’s set up in a dirt rally format with dirty cars and even dirtier characters. Using one of the 5 control schemes available, you will be sliding your way through the mud to the finish line. The game comes with a Single player and Multiplayer with an online option which made for some great replay value. Even though it didn’t appear on EA Mobile’s last release schedule, Reckless Racing is now available for download in the App Store!  We’ve been covering this one since it was known as Deliverace and were becoming convinced that it wouldn’t show up until Christmas or beyond. There are two versions of the game, one for the iPhone and one for the iPad, with the iPad edition boasting three more tracks, some more car customization options and improved graphics. Ever since we posted the first video back in early March, when it was called Deliverace, gamers were impressed with the incredibly detailed graphics engine and arcade-like physics in the game.
