It's autumn here in the northern hemisphere, and where I live, in New England (and elsewhere around the US too), that brings leaf-peepers. What's a leaf-peeper? It's a tourist, typically from New York or New Jersey, who visits rural New England to observe the beautiful autumn leaves. It's a big deal for us. Each year we New Englanders take a break from eating cranberries, disavowing the Red Sox and pahkig the cah in Harvard yahd to view nightly news reports on peak leaf-viewing projections, which states are changing first and at what rate, etc. Fortunately, there's an app for that. My husband and I travel from Michigan to Florida each year. When we take off from Michigan we try to drive straight through. Now that we are getting a little older it is getting harder to keep going so we stop at a rest area and close our eyes for a couple of hours..... the worst part is to keep going until the next area comes up so we can stop and sleep and who knows where its at?

Good application but only works where there is good ATT coverage

We drove recently from Michigan to North Carolina with our dogs, so we frequently use the rest stops on the way. The application worked great in areas where there was good ATT 3G coverage. But with Edge, it was very slow. And when there was no coverage by ATT such as in mountainous areas, the app is useless. It is a shame that ATT doesn't have the coverage that Verizon does. We also use Verizon because of ATT's poor coverage area. The app itself is very good, but be forewarned that if you will be driving through somewhat remote areas, get your needed information from the app well beforehand. It will show rest stops several miles ahead. With careful planning, this proved to be a very useful application.

I have a 3G with OS 3 and lots of map apps. Rest Area is a great idea but the maps perform poorly. Scrolling and zooming is sticky at best and somes the map won't respond at all.

On our way to Florida for family vacation with my wife and two boys we stopped at rest areas for quick pit stops. Tried to google "rest areas" and was frustrated with the results. Decided to check the app store and was excited to find this app. My son and I really had to go to the restroom pretty bad to the point that it was a little painful. The app download and installed very quickly and when launched it immediately detected our location and listed the nearest rest areas. Discovered that the nearest rest area was 50 miles away so needless to say we took the next exit. Thank goodness for this app because otherwise we would have kept going anticipating the next rest area and by that time we would have really been hurting. Great idea! Wish it had been mine!

Rest area is a great resource but I wish it utilized highway mile markers and provided options for showing only rest areas on the interstate or highway you are traveling. I also noted that their definition of "rest area" seems to include truck stops and other areas on the highway. Not sure about this because without mile markers I am having a hard time identifying the location it refers to. The rest area "20 miles from my location" was often not there so I assume it was referring to other pull offs. Would love for it to overlay maps that comes with Iphone.

We travelled from New England to Missouri with this thing and it was a lifesaver! We didn't like the list view though because it didn't display next upcoming stops according to the direction we were heading, it displayed closest and that could be north south east or west so that was not helpful. We stuck with the map view and that was excellent. I recommend reducing the number of showings to 50 to unclutter the map.

Most of the Rest Areas that this application lists don't exist. I tried using on a trip from Dallas to Hot Springs and only about 10% of the stops were actual rest areas.

Just finished a cross country round trip from Chicago IL to Darby MT and back (all interstate driving) and this app was VERY inaccurate. Was often off by 10 or 20 miles sometimes more. If the accuracy issue is addressed this app will become very usefull.

I was hoping to find out more than I could find out from signs on the NY thruway. Specifically I wanted to find out how many reststops until they had a Starbuck's. All this app tells you is that the NY thruway reststops have restaurants, which I knew. It would be good for an update to actually include what restaurants are there. This is info that is freely available on the NY thruway website and I assume this is true for most major highways.

Seems to have a very limited database of rest areas, limited only to federal interstates. Not vuseful to me at all, and a waste of a dollar. I would not recommend.

It helps, but still having directional problems. Agree with other reviewer about picnic areas or roadside parks as they were called in Texas. We travel a great deal on state and us hwys other than interstates with our pets that need regular stops. It would be nice to know where these are so as to plan our stops.
