Napster members attempting to stream music today might be surprised to discover that the app no longer works. Neither its website nor Google TV app are blasting the hits anymore because Rhapsody has acquired Napster and all of its members. Rhapsody announced weeks ago that it would take over streaming duties for Napster’s customers, and the transition was completed today. Napster members should be able to log into Rhapsody with the same username and password, which should transfer saved playlists and albums. However, some songs may not transfer because licensing rights are not available on both services. Also, MP3 credits are finished because Rhapsody does not support them. Well, it looks like Rhapsody has just gotten better with its latest update, which adds a social layer, allowing users to follow trendsetters in particular categories and share their own favorite songs and artists. This latest update comes fresh off its partnership with MetroPCS. New feature updates include: This app is cool for users who’ve always wanted to share the songs and playlists they’re listening to with their Facebook friends, which brings a whole another layer of social interaction with those close to you. It’ll be interesting to see how this coincides with Facebook’s plan to launch its own music service called Facebook Music. The new features will likely get a lot of use, considering Rhapsody occasionally gets early access to releases. The Rhapsody Android app is a premium on-demand music service that gives users access to more than 11 million full-length songs and exclusive editorial content, including reviews, videos, playlists, and recommendations from Rhapsody's music experts. Subscribers can download all the music they want to their Android phone for $9.99 a month and take it with them everywhere: in the car, on a flight, at home, or at the gym. Rhapsody users can create playlists, run multiple apps, play music while sending an email, and even listen to music offline (such as on a plane or subway). Would be incredible... Rhapsody would be an incredible cloud service if it weren't for some really stupid restrictions. Why is my playlist limited to 800 songs?! If you're going to give me unlimited access, why would you put such an arbitrary limit on it? Also, how come auto-playlists don't work for mobile? It's all very frustrating. Their music selection is great, but these limitations just make me yearn for my Windows Phone 7/Zune combination that I had before my Android phone.

This is an excellent app. Functionally blows the door off of Spotify except that Spotify is able to pause and resume when passing through a 3G deadzone (as is every other streaming app I use.) Rhapsody skips to the next track. Unusable on the road in spotty coverage areas. Passing in and out of fringe service can skip through an album in the time it would take to play one song. C'mon folks. Automatic pause/resume is not rocket science.

I've used this app on an Android and iPhone and its complete garbage on both systems. It often adds songs to your library numerous times when you download, so playing the library plays songs multiple times. The app also crashes constantly. You will literally not get one solid hour of constant music. For paying $15+ a month, I'd expect an unlimited number if song skips on Rhapsody playlists instead of 30 every the hours. They say three crashes were fixed but its a complete lie. Absolutely not worth using.

Napsters streaming was seamless and the user interface was a million times better with things like chart topper 100 best songs for any season for the past 60 years. Pandora! YOU SUCK! If you buy out a company that's better why not use their software? Or give paying customers the ability to choose which interface they want? Crapsody app freezes at least every 15 minutes, it takes forever to find songs cause their search sucks and they don't offer near the features like saving offline. Die Crapsody!

The tablet version of this app is excellent. I can't even figure out how people could possibly be giving this app such low ratings! Its never crashed on me, its very well laid out, I've never had a problem playing any of the music (I am a subscriber), and the streaming sound quality is excellent. And the people upset because you have to pay for the service? Let me just say that its ridiculous to me how many people always think they should get something for free. I only take off one star because sometimes the search function doesn't work properly and keeps pulling up the same artist. It doesn't happen often, but requires a force close to fix. Still a great companion for subscribers who have a tablet.

Rhapsody is my favorite choice to listen to music. But the UI is a little sluggish. And if you could integrate better with the OS like on my Galaxy Nexus if I listen to music straight through the music player I can pause and skip tracks straight from the lock screen. Now that is awesome!!! Do this kind of stuff for ICS devices since the platform is less prone to fragmentation and fix the search too please. That is really lacking, your website's search is far superior. Thank you

I am a Rhapsody-to-go subscriber and my family has 3 devices for portable listening already. When I log in on my wifi only tablet and just want to stream music, not download it (something I can do from a computer), I am prompted to deauthorize one of my devices or I can't use it. It would be nice if I could just use this in streaming mode only while I am sitting in my recliner. Again, this is nothing I can't do from a laptop already. The tablet would just be more convenient. I could make my tablet my portable device, but it's difficult to put in your pocket. I would like to be able to explore new music from the tablet but I can't even start the app without killing another of the families players.

still freezing after first 30 se conds playback!!plus You can't rate songs on the radio feature on devices so it doesn't adapt to your taste. Find myself using Pandora more. Lackluster for a paid service. Very disappointed. This app has potential to be better than the competition but the bugs make it fall short. Ten bucks a month for crap. don't waste your time if you had a choice in having this trash on your phone. Will delete and canceling subscription.

Will not work on galaxy 7.7. Think AP not set to work with Android honeycomb. Sucks, because honeycomb has been out for a year. Works great on 2 of there devices. Unfortunately, I want it to work on newest most expensive. Works great on apple. Screws Droid user. Works great on apple. Worked great on Droid froyo. Does not work on Droid Honeycomb which is a year old. A company that takes $10 a month should have this figured out. Figure it out soon or I will not only drop but make a point of talking down to my customers.

Warning: my son recently installed Rhapsody on his Android. Now if we are both streaming music, one of us gets our sessions cut off. I thought it was a settings error & sent a note to Support. I received an email saying that although I have a Premier Plus account only 1 device can be logged into the account & stream music simultaneously. Then was given instructions on making a playlist for offline music. Thus being able to use the app on 3 mobile devices is misleading.

Personally, i am paying for this app and so far, it seems as if i am waisting $10 a month. WHAT RHAPSODY NEEDS is to allow their users to obtain the music we want. Rhapsody needs to ONLY allow the original songs and NOT other peoples versions. NOW WHAT WOULD REALLY COME IN HANDY is being able to pin point the exact song the user wishes to find and listen to. EXAMPLE: having the option to enter both the song title and the artist. Possibly even the year, or approximate year the song came out...

I am a metropcs subscribed customer, with the now unlimited "crapsody". It tells me I need to upgrade to pay 9.99 or w/e, even though I am a paying customer! With no expiration date! thanks for f***ing up my service plan, I hope you can reimburse my $10 a month for a service I pay for that all of a sudden doesn't work anymore, even though it says it does, and in my account all my credentials are correct, and also virified to be an unlimited user through metropcs.

I use this app on my DROID X The Good: The streaming works extremely well for me unless 3g is unaivalable, but that is understandable, this app had a few buggs when I first installed it, it would crash everyonce in a while. After the recent update I have had no issues with it crashing after long use, even as I write this review I have been listening to music for nearly 2 hours with no issues. The Bad: I gave this app a 4/5 review for these 2 reasons: the search feature is not very good on the app, searching for a spesific song rarely works for me, it shows tons of songs with the same name by less popular artists and it requires the user to scroll through the songs looking for the one they want wich is usually not near the top, searching for an artist is much easier in the end. second is I dislike not being able to download my library on my phone so I easily search in aphabetical order when in offline mode overall I would recomend this app for anyone who is tired of paying for every song individually and looking for an app that will work on many platforms(iphone, android, and wp7)

I pay ten dollars a month for this and I can't even use it unless I have a wifi connection. It is incredibly slow. It took my phone 4 weeks to download my playlist with 280 songs. I shouldn't have to pay ten dollars to wait a month to listen to my music. And half the songs I downloaded don't even play! Pleease fix it!!!! I LOVE listening to music so please!! This is ridiculous!! If it's not fixed im cancelling my subscription and uninstalling. :|

This app has come a long way. Offline playback is great, especially when traveling on an airplane. The reason I prefer Rhapsody is that they have the largest catalog of any subscription service. If I'm going to pay monthly for unlimited music, I want the one with the most tracks. The android app is much more stable than previous versions. Higher quality streaming and downloads are nice. I recommend going in to the advanced settings and enabling caching, that way when you're driving in an area with intermittent signal you can still listen to music you haven't downloaded. The Pandora app is the benchmark for caching, and this one's not quite there yet. Overall, the app is miles ahead of the Spotify app - and of course its catalog is much larger than Spotify.

Was forced to switch to Rhapsody when Napster sold out. There are a few features that are better than Napster, but Rhapsody randomly stops playing almost every time I use it. There have been several updates but the app still hangs even when it's the only thing running. Hire some better programmers. After several months this app is still craptacular. Good phone signal good wifi connection and it still stops constantly. I have downloaded songs to my phone and it still has trouble playing them.

Would be great if not for stability issues. Rhapsody has a great library of songs and streaming audio quality is good. However, this app has serious stability issues. It has a habit of cutting off songs midstream and skipping to the next track. I've had to deal with this for several songs in a row. In addition, the app will crash if you do basically ANYTHING else - no popping over to check on a website. This all happens regardless of whether songs are streamed or downloaded. Poor form for a paid service...

I like Rhapsody, they have almost every song imaginable. I don't like the fact that I can't put it into my music program on my phone. When I wasn't to send a song to someone in a text message I can't. all out does is send the I can't all it does is send a link. I want to put the songs I've downloaded into the music app library the into that came with btu phone. Can I do this? If so how? If not and I can't even upload then. Is there so way of doing this? If so please.let me knorr

Been a longtime rhapsody subscriber and love the service....got my Motorola Xoom in 3/12 and rhapsody at that time was great - then one day in April the update came out and this new android rhapsody app sucks - it's just a radio now, can choose any song but now once the song starts playing, that's it - no more option to fast forward or rewind the song at all...but I don't see ANY reviewer on here mention that - am I missing something here? I don't think so....never seen a music player - hardware or software that didn't have an obvious location for FF/RW buttons - no option for this even with downloaded playlists - thumbs WAY DOWN rhapsody - anybody know how I can get the old version APK?

I honestly wish I could give this app zero stars. I love the service itself, but what is the point of paying for it if every time I try to use it through the app it doesn't play, crashes, freezes up my phone/tablet? Seriously people, with as much money as you get from your subscribers one would think you could afford to hire an effective tech team. This kind of incompetence makes you look amateurish and unprofessional. Please do all of your loyal, PAYING customers a favor and fix it. Thank you

I started with Rhapsody way back when it came with my Comcast service, and until recently it was my go to music app. My issue with this app is that it shows up in Fing as having a backdoor trojan, specifically netbus 12346 (a keylogger) I uninstalled Rhapsody and the trojan went away, I reinstalled Rhapsody and the trojan is now back. Rhapsody tech support is all but useless in helping me understand why, they seem to be stuck concerning themselves with how I installed the app. I use playstore to install it.

I love rhapsody and the music, my wife and I listen to it daily. Bugs to fix though: - we have plan for 3 streams @ once. however there are many times when one of the players stops b/c another stream started on another device with the error 'another stream is active'. - no track time (i.e minutes/seconds left) on tablet version - many time if you drill into an artist on tablet version you can't drill into another artist, have to exit app Otherwise though I LOVE the tablet view of the app, helps me quickly find new music and start it up. Thanks!
