EA Backpedals on Dropping Support for 'Rock Band' on iOS
Calendar16 Thu, 03 May 2012 02:28:53 UTC +00:00
So, this morning we learned that EA Mobile had sent out a popup notification to users of the original Rock Band [ $4.99 ] for iOS effectively stating the game was shutting down at the end of the month. This naturally drew universal criticism from gamers and left me wondering one thing: why? If EA wanted to stop the online support for the game and instead focus on the newer and better Rock Band Reloaded [$4.99 / $9.99 (HD)], well I can understand that. But the message clearly said the game would “no longer be playable on your device” after May 31st. It seemed pretty lame to not just leave the game playable in an offline way for those who had bought it and/or spent money on the IAP songs. Well as Polygon reports EA has responded to the situation, issuing the following statement: "Rock Band for iOS will remain live Read More
ROCK BAND Reloaded
Calendar16 Tue, 04 Jan 2011 01:20:39 UTC +00:00
When the first Rockband was released, it was awesome to have a quality rhythm game for my iPhone. It was built well and came with a pretty large list of songs. Now Rock Band Reloaded has been released and is building on the already strong foundation of the first game. Check out the rest of this review at Appolicious. Read More
iOS Game Time: Pictures Galore

Posted 12/08/2010 at 4:38pm | by Nic Vargus After a brief hiatus, GameTime is back and better than ever. This week we’re covering three awesome and supremely polished games. In case you missed it, last week we had an article where users could drop their Game Center IDs to make a few friends; though the contest is over, you can still make some friends here. Our first game is Piktureka! Based off the popular card game of the same name. Like it’s decked counterpart, Pictureka! has you searching for lists of strange things before a timer goes off; at one point you’ll be searching for “things with four legs” (a chair or a cat both being acceptable), other times it will be less straightforward. Part of what makes the game so fun is the comprehensive and wacky list of things you might have to search for. However, unlike the card game Read More
EA Brings 'Rock Band Reloaded' With New Vocal Mode
Calendar16 Sun, 05 Dec 2010 23:56:50 UTC +00:00
Rock Band fans have got another installment to keep them tapping -- or perhaps, in this case, singing -- to the beat with EA's recent release of Rock Band Reloaded in two versions, one for the iPhone [link] and one for the iPad [link]. This latest release is the first iOS Rock Band that features the (rather forgiving) new vocal recognition mode where gameplay consists of singing right along with the available tracks. And, speaking of available tracks, there are 27 free tracks (some of which must be downloaded) along with four pay tracks that can be purchased at $.99 for a bundle of two. The complete list follows. Free songs: Pay songs: ( * denotes DLC tracks ) Rock Band Reloaded features Facebook integration, local (WiFi and Bluetooth) multiplayer, and a new Expert Mode for those wanting more of a challenge. The iPhone version supports the Retina display where available. Read More

It’s been a little over a year since Rock Band was released on the iPhone and completely blew us away with its 4-player multiplayer mode allowing players to play each instrument on their respective iPhone via Bluetooth. It looks like the rockin’ won’t be stopping any time soon as EA Mobile has released a new version of Rock Band called Rock Band Reloaded. Rock Band Reloaded features 20+ songs such as Duran Duran’s “Hungry Like a Wolf”, Billy Idol’s “White Wedding”, Drowning Pool’s “Bodies.” One of the big updates for Rock Band Reloaded is the ability to sing along with the tracks as the game now has vocal recognition similar to how a vocalist performs in the console versions of the Rock Band titles. You’ll still be able to play the vocals section as you did in the original Rock Band for iPhone by tapping the vocal tracks, but if you’ve Read More
Rock Band Reloaded Rocks the iPhone Today
Calendar16 Thu, 02 Dec 2010 18:46:52 UTC +00:00
EA and Harmonix today announced that their popular music game, Rock Band, has landed on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch as Rock Band Reloaded. Twenty songs, including some Nine Inch Nails, Billy Idol, No Doubt, Nirvana and Vampire Weekend will be available today, with more on the way throughout the month. If Harmonix is anywhere near as good with their song updates as they are on the consoles, there should be plenty to choose from. Not to mention, anything with the word “Reloaded” at the end is automatically pretty freakin’ awesome. The game is $4.99 on the iPhone and iPod Touch and $9.99 on the iPad. That includes the following songs, plus an additional bunch of downloads for a total of 29 songs with your purchase: - ‚ÄúKryptonite‚Äù / 3 Doors Down - ‚ÄúYour Decision‚Äù / Alice in Chains - ‚ÄúSo What‚ÄôCha Want‚Äù / Beastie Boys - ‚ÄúWhite Wedding‚Äù / Read More
Dec 2nd 2010 at 1:05PM Re: rock band. What's the $5.00 value added for the iPad version? Before the iPhone 4 some software vendors said the increase was due to making higher resolution graphics for the iPad, etc. That makes some sense as far as it goes. But now that the iPhone 4 has a resolution rivaling the iPad (960x640 vs 1024x768).. well.. where's the beef? I wish there is an option where you can enable Landscape or Portrait mode when playing the song. Also please add more in app purchase songs from the official Rock Band 2 and please add "Hello There" which is in the Rock Band 2. Thanks.
Woot ^w^

I've been waiting around patiently for this app for weeks and am SO glad that it's finally out. The gameplay is satisfying, the retina is display-ful. If I were you I'd just get it now and appreciate it later. My one complaint... Shouldn't there be keys? Maybe I'm being greedy but I just kinda assumed since real rock band has keys this nights be upgraded as well. Doesn't take away from the experience though, so definitely 5 and a half stars from this guy. I effing love you so much, Harmonix...
Hmm

Fun to play so far. The landscape arrangement makes it much more comfortable to play than the previous version. Graphics are a step back, though: at least on my iPod Touch 2g, the characters in the background are a slideshow of still images of low-poly characters. At least in the last game they were animations timed to the beat. I know graphics aren't that important, but the slideshow is pretty obnoxious to look at, and if it was going to be a slideshow, they could at least render some decent-looking characters. I can't think of any reason why they'd go this route other than to produce misleading screenshots. My only complaint against the gameplay itself, so far, is that activating overdrive by tilting the device is pretty awkward. Maybe there's a trick to it and I haven't found it yet.

It doesn't have Game Center and the note chart is huge! Why make it so big? Have the notes farther away from the screen. Right now it feels like the app is designed to be a child friendly version of Rockband.
Awesome addition to the series

Another great game. Vocals are a blast to sing along with playing all the other instruments.
