iRobot Roomba mobile game hits the Apple AppStore

iRobot Roomba, the world-famous vacuum cleaning robot, is going for the iPhone users with a brand new game – Roomba Revenge. Your mission is to guide the beloved robot (I know I love my Roomba), while he’s battling the evil Dust Bunnies, gobbling up dirt, dust and debris until the floor’s absolutely spotless. However, you shouldn’t get too close to the nasty bunnies or they’ll give Roomba a stomping and thrown down even more dirt. Except if you enter the Revenge mode, when Roomba becomes invincible and can gobble up the Dust Bunnies as they try to run and hide from his powerful suction. Other characters you’ll encounter are cats that slow you down and there’s also the human owner who picks up the robot to get him out of trouble and takes him to rooms he can’t otherwise get into. It’s a fun little title that costs $0.99. I would Read More
Roomba makes game debut in terrifying fashion

I'm just glad the real Roomba doesn't look like this. Woe unto thee if you're a virtual dust bunny. The wrath of Roomba is coming down from on high, and there ain't no wrath like that of a rampaging robot. iRobot has released Roomba's Revenge, a game for iOS that pits Roomba against the evils of dust bunnies, dirt, and pesky felines. Available for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, the game features a cartoonish Roomba that looks like a hockey puck with insane eyes and a rictus. When Roomba sucks up enough dirt, it goes into revenge mode and can destroy all the dust bunnies in the house. If you don't clean up before time runs out, you're told, "You don't suck enough." It's a challenging game, with little time to clear each level. I found Roomba a little hard to maneuver on my iPod Touch, but managed to wipe Read More

My 2 Cents

This is a fun app and I give it a good rating because it is quite entertaining.... I do have a few suggestions though:1) It would be great if you could control Roomba with the gyro, using your finger to navigate gets in the way on such a small screen, tilting whichever way u want to go would be much easier (and easy to implement)2) Multiplayer - I'm sure they must have thought about this and not included it for a good reason but I'll mention it anyway as an obvious way to make it more fun.3) More types of enemies / friendly's - the first few levels are very fun because they introduce new enemies / obstacles / things to help you along the way. But after that, it's boring and repetitive. Introducing new things or just taking what you have and introducing in a more gradual manor would be more engaging.4) Don't charge money for something that's done for marketing purposes and helps your brand. Ya, you have the free app, but you should make the entire thing free because the more people who play it and enjoy it, the more likely they are to buy a Roomba... IMO, you'd probably add to your bottom line MORE by making it free because a single Roomba sale is equivalent to roughly 350 app downloads (assuming average margins in your industry). Also, make the app fit your brand image better. This was clearly designed by a third party who did not brand it like an iRobot product. For those interested in buying a Roomba, I got a modded one at roombafied.com, I LOVE it because it works better than the original product that has some flaws in the way it's built (do some research and you'll see what I mean).
Awesome
