Review: iReddit for iPhone does social news right
Calendar16 Mon, 02 Mar 2009 12:34:35 UTC +00:00
Social news community Reddit is a melting pot of current events, endless memes, and obsession with the irreverent—and now it has officially come to the iPhone. Promising virtually all of the site's functionality for the iPhone and iPod touch, we had to dive in to see just how far the Reddit hole goes. Reddit's official iPhone app, iReddit (iTunes link), is not to be confused with previous entrants like "open source reddit" (iTunes link) and Satellite (iTunes link). While iReddit's $1.99 price may turn off some discerning users (who still felt the need to buy a phone that costs at least $200), a free, ad-supported version is on its way. iReddit offers access to all subreddits (basically "categories," for the uninitiated) and lets users vote, comment, share, and save links on their accounts for reading later. Upon first run, the site's legendarily quirky culture and streamlined experience are both immediately apparent, Read More

Program is very slow, crashes, and you can't go back in the browser. It also takes forever to change orientation. Still an ok way to read reddit but glad I got it on sale.
Not bad
Wilford brimley 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
The app is a little slow and has a tendency to crash a lot. It's still better than the free reddit app, or an rss reader. This is the best reddit app currently available, but you might want to save your money till the official reddit app comes out... If you can be without reddit that long.
nice features but...
scorpiophoenix 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
crashes way too much to be useful, especially for a pay app.
Needs one feature
Reddit lover 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Needs one feature to make it perfect. Add a button to every view called "mark as read and load 15 more", like you have in google reader for rss. For reddit, this means marking them as Hide. Why do I want this? I spent 40 minutes on reddit last night. This morning I am getting all of the same headlines. They are no longer new for me. Add this feature and reddit becomes my ultimate source for what's new.
Best reddit experience on iPhone
Merlyn 3D 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app is the best reddit experience you'll find on the iPhone, I only wish there was a digg app this good. My only complaint is that it lacks responsiveness so it can be a little slow.
Pretty Easy Way to Read Reddit
graymerica 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Random story with a shake in pretty fun. Interface works well, but could be a bit faster.
Must-have for anyone with a Reddit account.

I've been waiting for this app forever! Delivers the whole Reddit experience to the iPhone. Better UI and far more capable than "official" app.
Well designed, very intuitive, but very slow.
leandroc76 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Some reddits don't even load. And some take too long before my interest is already peaked. Nice idea, but I was willing to pay for it because I don't have to use the tricky Safari for iPhone when viewing NSFW links. Hee hee! There must be a network update soon, because over 3G it is too slow. I would like to offer a solution, pair up VLC and use containers to play certain media that infests reddit every day! OR label a reddit to show that media file is included so that we don't waste our time waiting for it to load and realizing we can't view it because the iPhone doesn't support the format. Thank you
