We’ve already told you Evernote was one of the first apps to get an update for the new iPad’s Retina display. What we haven’t told you is that their other two iPad apps, Evernote Peek and Skitch, also got the same treatment to make everything look sharper, crisper and more vibrant. The Evernote app got the biggest update with Retina display support being just one of the new things. For instance, version 4.1.9 also brings better checkbox support, resulting in checkboxes working more like lists – they now support indentation, and new lines created after a checkbox will automatically insert a new box. Moreover, text editing has been improved so that note editor is now much more responsive and reliable than in the past. Then there are enhancements in the suggested note titles. As you type your own title, a matching list of previously used titles will appear, which is neat Read More

This is a screenshot from Galaxy on Fire 2 HD running on my iPad 2. However, the app has very recently been updated to take advantage of the new iPad’s Retina Display, so the game will look even more gorgeous on your brand New tablet. The following is a list of apps that you’ll want to pick up today, as they’ve all been suitably updated to look quadruply awesome: There are some pretty cool wallpapers being assembled over at The Verge – http://vrge.co/wfcOCh Read More
Well, today is the big day. Diehard Apple fans around the world are either enduring endless lines or eagerly awaiting the UPS truck from the comfort of their own home. They're all doing the same thing: Pulling open that pristine, white packaging to reveal the latest coveted gadget from Apple's overseas factories: the new iPad. Apple isn't the only one that's been busily prepping for today. App developers everywhere have been recoding and resubmitting their work to the iTunes App Store to take advantage of the new device's specs. More than anything else, it's the iPad's super-high resolution retina display that's giving developers the most compelling reason to push out an update. With its resolution of 2048 x 1536, the iPad's retina display can make even the most well-designed apps look dramatically better. The screen, as Tim Cook proudly pointed out, has 1 million more pixels than an HDTV set. Naturally, Read More
posted by Joe Rossignol on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 7:45 am.   The new iPad’s crystal clear Retina display is arguably the greatest feature of Apple’s new tablet, so you’ll definitely want to check out the early collection of apps that have been updated to work at the higher resolution. Gizmodo has pieced together a list of iPad apps and games that are deemed “Retina Ready,” ranging from Twitter and Tweetbot to Infinity Blade 2 and Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation. Check out the full list just ahead, and post in the comments if you know of any other App Store titles that take advantage of the extra pixels… Read More
Evernote updated its Skitch for iPad app with few new features. First of all, version 1.0.3 brings a new (fourth) shape to the mix – rounded-corner rectangle. Second, there are parental controls that allow users to disable the browser, location and photo features. In order to do this, simply tap on the “i” on the homescreen, and then set permissions from the Restrictions tab. Moreover, this release also comes with support for more languages, with Skitch for iPad now understanding more than 10 languages. Finally, Evernote made sure to fix some of the know errors and as a result – the application is now more stable and faster. It remains a free app and you can get it from a link below. Even if you don’t intend to annotate things that often, you still want to have the capability readily available at your disposal from Evernote, which you probably use already. Read More
TUAW Best of 2011 wrap-up and editor picks
Calendar16 Sat, 07 Jan 2012 01:00:00 UTC +00:00
It's January 6th, 2012, and today marks the end of the TUAW Best of 2011 awards. This was a massive undertaking, with 25 separate categories all requiring their own nominations and voting from our readers. We've learned some lessons for next year's event -- start earlier, watch for astroturfing in the nominations, drop some unpopular categories -- and the Best of 2012 will be even better. The editorial staff here at TUAW agreed with many of the reader picks, but we had our own opinions on some others. We want to thank all of the thousands of TUAW readers who took time to consider their favorite accessories and apps, nominate them for an award, and then vote in the competition. Without further ado, here's the full list of winners as well as our picks for the TUAW Best of 2011: Editor picks: 13" and 11" MacBook Air, 13" MacBook Pro Peripheral Read More
During December and January, The Unofficial Apple Weblog is soliciting your nominations and votes for the best products for Mac, iPhone/iPod touch, and iPad. We'll start with nominations in a category, and then tally your votes for the top-nominated products a few days later. The winner in each category receives the highly-coveted title of TUAW Best of 2011. In the next category for the TUAW Best of 2011 awards, we want to know what you consider your favorite iPad productivity app. Before you enter your nomination into the comments at the bottom of this post, please be sure to check that the app you're thinking about is listed in the productivity category in the App Store. Some of the top apps in this category include Pages, Penultimate, Notability, GoodReader for iPad, PDF Expert, and Skitch for iPad. But there are thousands of other iPad productivity apps, one of which may be Read More
Skitch for iPad
Calendar16 Tue, 27 Dec 2011 16:05:47 UTC +00:00
Skitch for iPad by Evernote is an iPad app that helps you express with images and drawing what you cannot express in words. This free application is very intuitive and has a lot of fun little features that can help you get your ideas across to friends and family very easily. I used an iPad 1 to write this review for Skitch for iPad, while it is expected to work well across all the different iPad versions. The main attraction to Skitch is that it enables you to say things with drawings and images, unlike texting or talking where you have to rely solely on words. The app itself has a very nice and clear user interface which slightly resembles a very scaled back version of Photoshop. It is very easy to use for annotations, and the built in sharing feature is also very easy to use. You can use screenshots Read More
Skitch Comes to iPad
Calendar16 Tue, 27 Dec 2011 15:04:54 UTC +00:00
By Greg Dawson on December 27th, 2011 Use shapes, arrows, sketches and text to explain what the first thousand words couldn't. The wait is over. Skitch for iPad is finally here. Evernote purchased Skitch and launched the first app for Android in August and “iUsers” have been jealous ever since. As of Thursday, the popular Mac desktop app is now available for mobiles devices on the App Store. Sure, I could have used an annotated screenshot to tell the audience in fewer words, but then I’d be out of a job. The goal of the app is to tell more with less. If a picture is worth a thousand words then Skitch is worth that and then a few more as it allows the user to use shapes, arrows, sketches and text annotation to get their point across quickly. They can mark up photos, screenshots, maps, and webpages then share them Read More

Skitch for iPad Released
Calendar16 Thu, 22 Dec 2011 19:07:12 UTC +00:00
posted by Jacob Penderworth on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 11:07 am.   Late yesterday evening, Evernote released an iPad edition of their screenshot annotation/editing tool Skitch. The app promises to bring a fun way to manipulate your images and add annotations easily using the many tools that it provides. Skitch is the amazingly fun and surprisingly powerful way to move your ideas and projects forward using fewer words. With Skitch, annotate and draw on just about anything that you see, whether it’s a new or existing photo, a webpage, screenshot, map, or a blank canvas. Then, share your work with friends, colleagues or save it all to Evernote. It couldn’t be simpler. More coverage after the break! The company explains that they have included several different ways to import content into the image annotator: - Photos and Camera: Choose to work on an existing image from your camera roll or take Read More

When the much-loved screen shot and image annotation Mac app Skitch was purchased by Evernote a few months ago, an iOS version of the service was said to be forthcoming. Evernote has made good on that promise by launching Skitch for iPad, with an iPhone-friendly version coming soon. On the iPad, Skitch lets you pull up photos, screenshots and Web pages and annotate them with arrows, shapes, text and lines. It's a stripped-down offering compared what Skitch can do on the desktop, but for the tablet form factor, it works quite well. Many of us here at ReadWriteWeb love to use Skitch to mark up screen shots for some of our stories, but you don't need to be a tech blogger to get the most of out the service. Everybody from UI designers to executives could use Skitch for iPad to add new ideas and context to images on the go. Read More

Skitch comes to the iPad!
Calendar16 Thu, 22 Dec 2011 12:07:21 UTC +00:00
Super-popular annotation and drawing app for Android and Mac is now available for iPad! As you can imagine, it takes advantage of the large screen Apple’s tablet rocks to allow you to do much more. You can work with existing photos, screenshots, maps (very cool), take a new photo (if you have the iPad 2), web pages (there’s an internal web browser) or start from the blank sheet of paper. In terms of drawing tools, there are finger, pencil, arrows, text and shapes (circles, squares and lines). Moreover, you can crop your canvas to any size you wish, and trash any sufficient object with just a few taps. Once you’re done editing, you can save your work to Evernote, or share it via Twitter, email or AirPlay (to mirror your iPad onto any screen with an Apple TV attached). Evernote’s blog post ends with a promise that the iPhone version will Read More
‘Skitch’ erzeugt iPad-Aufmerksamkeit

Read More
Evernote's Skitch image annotation tool arrives for iPad
Calendar16 Wed, 21 Dec 2011 22:30:00 UTC +00:00
I'm a big fan of the Skitch screenshot/annotation tool on the Mac; while there are countless ways to make and share quick image captures, Skitch combines the features I need most often with an accessible and friendly interface. The original 2007 beta lingered in pre-release form before finally going 1.0 last year, and the Skitch platform was acquired by Evernote back in August 2011. Starting today, that same Skitch goodness is available for free on the iPad. Skitch for iPad lets you quickly crop, annotate and share images, or save them to Evernote for remembering. You can start with a camera shot or library image, a blank canvas, or built-in tools to capture maps and websites. Interestingly, the Skitch team used to be part of Plasq, the publisher of Comic Life -- which made the leap from Mac to iPad back in May of this year. Read More
