SlideIT is currently in its fourth iteration, and with that comes the introduction of skins. Scoff as you might, customization and aesthetic appeal are important to lots of people out there, so I've got to tip my hat to the SlideIT developers for making that so easy to do. How does SlideIT function as a line-tracing keyboard, though? On its own, alright. If there's one thing SlideIT has going for it, it's that it's fast. I'm not just talking a little quick here and there. It feels like as soon as you're even thinking about being done with a word, SlideIT is ready to toss it out there. It's kind of uncanny and hard to describe what makes it feel so instant, but it does. The best out there!! I can't live without this keyboard!! I've tried Swype 3 different times since its initial beta and I find it impossible to figure out. SwiftKey wasn't any better. SlideIT is the best! The Auto Caps is not working right on my XOOM however. When I type in a password it is still auto cap-ing which is a nuisance. Terry you may have disabled auto cap because that is a default feature. You only have to tap the + sign next to the word to add it to the dictionary, how much easier could it be?

This is the best thing since sliced bread, who'd have thought there'd be an Afrikaans dictionary available too?! :) Tested it for the demo period and absolutely had to buy it - highly recommended!! Purchased version installed with no problems; both dictionaries works fantastic, extremely accurate and brilliant correction handling! Google's Voice app integrates nicely too, even with the Afrikaans dictionary... Last time R50 bought u something that gives back so much?! :) HTC Wildfire android 2.2.1

The SlideIT keyboard was a revelation for me. Typing is amazingly quick and easy, and I cannot imagine using a smartphone without a slide keyboard ever again. A few minor niggles persist: - Capitalization often fails when my touch trail is not 100% accurate - New words added to the dictionary with an initial capital at the beginning of a sentence are stored with the initial capital - Using "words" that have capitals mid-word is cumbersome, e.g., "SlideIT" - these cannot be saved to the dictionary

there is no option to cancel the auto correction permanently. what ever i do nothing change and once in a while its start to "correct" and destroy all the text i wrote:( the worse is that after u send or post and discover that the "correction" that u have canceled started somehow and u have a shame with what u just sent :( its not normal that such an option is not possible to cancel. even in the apple iPhone i could cancel the auto correction. too sad but i feel sorry i bought it !

Works harmoniously even if you switch androids. I love this app. Don't get frustrated on your first few days. It takes a week for the app to learn your words if you press the "+" button so it learns what you text.( depending on your text addiction) I hated this for the first two days..now agree with those who have made the slide the best ever. I never pay for apps unless they work well and when I switched phones it came back without paying again. Can't imagine a touch screen without it now, well worth it.

The skins and the option to actually type things out are great. The hide button alone makes this keyboard worth the money. Most keyboards on the market do not have this feature and tend to stay on the screen after you hit go but this is not one of those. Also, the long press feature is golden. One thing i would change is the the way this keyboard has to uppercase, swype is better. One more complaint is when you type I alone. Sometimes it does not uppercase, and it never spaced automatically. Not perfect.

I love this keyboard. I can type really fast with it. But two things drive me batty: while in slide mode it lets you manually type, which is good for the occasional word it doesn't know, but it always automatically autocorrects the word to something else as soon as you hit space. I can't find an option to disable that and it drives me nuts. Second, the dictionary is filled with words few people would ever use. (Thy?) They only get in the way. But I can delete these extra words, which fixes that problem.

This app just works as-is out of the box, but it can also let you customise it in many ways (skins, languages...) It also scans your contact list and adds the names to your disctionary, so it's easier to swipe the names instead of typing them out. Also, for all of you who use accented languages, there is an option in SlideIT to remove all accents in SMS applications, so as to avoid reducing the number of characters you can send in an SMS, while leaving the accents in emails and office applications. Just this last point is worth the price in my opinion.

This app actually works rather well, except in 1 department, which leaves me rather peeved. It claims to use an "English" dictionary, except that it doesn't. It seems to use corrupted, misspelled English, otherwise known as AMERICAN ENGLISH. Where is the proper English dictionary? I don't see it amongst all the other language options available. Until Americans learn to spell words like Colour correctly, this app is of no use to me, nor others wishing to use English correctly! ;)

4SHEEZY!!

Haven't used in over a year, tried this again, has improved some, but Dev still has stupid things like no spacing after the letter "I" or "aA". It SUCKS so bad to have to hit space EVERY time on those 2 words. Also sucks to have the stupid pin?? If you want to input several different characters consecutively, besides letters, it keeps going back and forth. WHY HAVE THIS EXTRA USELESS STEP? Why not just allow us to choose when we want to go back to the letters like every other keyboard out there? It's maddening and totally breaks up the fluidity of the keyboard for NO REASON. Get the Swype beta (so easy to get just search for it) or download FlexT9, made by the same company which is Nuance.

CONFUSED BY THESE NEGATIVE REVIEWS - I've tried nearly every keyboard out there including all the Swype releases, and this is by far the best "swiping" keyboard out there, and if you aren't into that, it rocks just as a tap keyboard too. I have an OG Droid and there is no comparison out there. It isn't perfect and there are tiny issues but before giving a low rating, give it a thorough test drive. I was skeptical at first but for 10¢, :-D

Great keyboard. I currently have only one problem with it: In the Slide It keyboard settings I have set it to auto capitalize words in the start of the statement, which is usually what I need. However, there are some cases that I don't want the 1st work to be capitalize, e,g: When writing in a box a user name / Email etc. In this case it capitalize the word, with and without shift. Need to let forcing lower case letter when pressing the shift key and than writing.

Greatly speeds up text entry for me, and much more accurate than the gingerbread keyboard. I have swype preinstalled on my droid 2 but could not update it because it is part of the firmware. Happened to come across this so now I don't have to root my phone to update swype. But I found I like SlideIT better anyway. Best feature over the swype version I had is not having to deal with double letters, as in good. Makes a fast entry mode even faster. Great product!

I loved Swype which came preinstalled on my phone. When I saw SlideIT on the market, I thought "It costs money, so it MUST be better than Swype!" I was very wrong. Things that came naturally in Swype were frustrating in SlideIT. I tried going through every option I could in the preferences, but could not get SlideIT to act the way I wanted. Dealing with punctuation is difficult, dealing with capitalization is difficult, dealing with alternate words is difficult and even dealing with spaces is difficult. What prompted the review was the word "dinner" which for the first five or six attempts would insist I meant Donner or driver. Not only does Swype handle everything with more grace, but I think it even looks better despite SlideIT's plethora of skins. i think it expects me 2 write sentences like this theyre keyboard doesnt like punctuation

SlideIt is a pleasure to use. In terms of accuracy, it takes time to build up your dictionary, but it's well worth it. Right now it's accuracy is comparable to both Swype and Flex T9. What where at has a major edge is in the customizability of its look and feel. Writing on a small keyboard gets old after awhile, that's why SlideIt's wide range of keyboard theme makes a big difference. It's a tough competitive keyboard market, but this one is definitely one my top favorites.

Its true you cant get swype on the market, but this is definitely not a replacement for it. You have to make very precise movements for it to show the correct word, and way too often the pick list at the top also doesnt contain the word I'm looking for. Basically, SlideIT will only offer up what you directly did so if you miss a letter by one pixel it will not even suggest the word which is pretty easy if you have FAT fingers. Furthermore, the words it does predict are often words you simply would not use every day - example: when i try to enter "does" it comes up "dies" very frequently and if i dont notice i type "i hope she dies" because i obviously say "dies" a lot in everyday life. The performance of the app is not an issue as it does perform exactly as described, but it lacks any sort of inherent intelligence as far as the sliding component figuring out what you actually want to say is concerned.

I've used Swype for a while, but for $.10 I couldn't pass up a chance to see what else was out there. SlideIt has cool skins and looks great. It's pretty accurate but when comparing it to Swype, it falls short when it comes to recognizing characters. Most notably, it doesn't take a best guess if it doesn't get a word, it just gives you a "??". It also seems to be more of a resource/battery hog. I noticed my battery drain a lot faster using SlideIt than my (pre-installed) Swype on my Bionic. If you can't get Swype, this is a good keyboard, but I'll stick to Swype.

Don't like it as much as the stock swype keyboard that came with the galaxy S, it is customizable but I can't work out how to stop it from capitalizing the first letter in some text fields? even pressing shift doesn't stop it, I end up having to use a space, then the first letter then go back and delete the space, which is terribly annoying especially in password fields. Word prediction while sliding is so so, it occasionally comes up with the craziest suggestions or gets stumped over the simplest word gestures. Does it have to keep a separate dictionary than the phone? updating 2 dictionaries with new words is annoying. Again I've had a better experience with the Samsung Swype keyboard. Uninstalling for now but hopefully it will improve in the future...

SlideIt is a nice way to enter text, but I have two problems: 1) They advertise to me with notifications. "Download holiday skins!" they say. No, the notification area shouldn't be for spam. 2) The permissions are worrisome. SlideIt requests full internet access, which means it could snoop on what I type. I know they say they need it for voice-to-text, but I worry that that's mostly just an excuse. I wish they made a version that didn't request worrying permissions.

This keyboard takes time to get used to. It's especially useful if you know the keyboard layout because your finger gets in the way when pausing to search for the next letter in a word. I much prefer the mechanics of this keyboard to a standard keyboard, sliding really does work. What really lets it down is the ability to learn how you use language or even how most people use language. I use the word 'you' way more than 'toy' but minor errors are punished. I also swear profusely but my dictionary is ignored

Swipe or punch...are just methods of operating soft keyboards. If a keyboard is as dumb as "slideit" or "perfect keyboard pro", user will certainly miss the speed, accuracy and convenience of physical keyboard...who cares to play with "so called customization options" and "fancy skins" when your soft keyboard is not smart enough to understand what you want to "type" and suggest typos correction in context of phrase not just mere dictionary word. "Swype" and "Swift keyboard" are smartest & fastest learners
