Posted 11/26/2009 at 7:56am | by J.R. Bookwalter If you love taking pictures with your iPhone, you have probably already realized the limitations of the built-in Camera app. One of the best alternatives in the App Store has just gotten better with a fresh new 2.0 update. Snapture 2.0 just hit the App Store with a host of new features, including tap-to-focus on the iPhone 3GS, instant photo sharing to Facebook and Twitter and three color filters that allow you to take photos in black & white, sepia or negative (inverted) in addition to full color. Boasting over a half million satisfied customers, Snapture’s previous version already held an impressive lead over the Camera app with high-speed multishot, the ability to tap anywhere on the screen to take a picture, TouchZone stabilization and much more. Snapture’s patent-pending Quickview technology lets you snap a picture and instantly see the result in the Read More
Snapture has updated its popular camera application for the iPhone. Version 2.0 builds on its powerful predecessor (which we covered in the past) to include new features such as: Rest of the features from the previous releases were unchanged and include digital zoom (up to 5x), high-speed multi-shot, tap anywhere to take a picture, multiple image sizes, Level Aid, and so on. Snapture is available in 12 languages and you can grab it from here (iTunes). The price is $1.99. Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. In addition to his interests in mobile phones, Dusan also loves to experiment with the latest web and Read More

Snapture “ one of the leading alternative camera apps for the iPhone “ has just had an update, to Version 2.0.  I haven ‘t had a chance to try out the update yet, but the list of new features looks impressive.  They include: And one that sounds new to me: A2Focus “ Automatic Auto Focus, works with pinch and pan zoom on the 3GS. Snapture already offered a good number of very strong features not found in the built in camera, prior to this update “ and has been my favorite camera app since way back in its jailbreak arena days.  Here ‘s a little more on that from Snapture Labs ‘ press release: Snapture also aggregates all of the other camera features that are currently present in various other camera apps, including:  zoom upto 5X, high-speed Multi-Shot, tap anywhere to take a picture, multiple image sizes, Level Aid and a Read More

Snapture
Calendar16 Wed, 14 Oct 2009 08:20:51 UTC +00:00
Snapture is a camera app that is one of the many apps that are trying to enhance the abilities of the iPhone\'s default camera. There have been more apps that I can count (maybe not that many) trying to do the very same thing and each has had its ups and downs. Snapture is no exception to this trend in photo apps. It has some excellent features and is lacking a few as well. Snapture comes with a ton of great options. Users can enable an on screen level aid, take multiple shots with one tap, zoom in on images and quickly view photos in-app. These are the majority of the apps best features. It utilizes the full screen when taking a photo and users must tap on the screen to take a picture. The large downside to this app is that users with a 3GS will not be able to Read More
Weekly App Store Picks: September 26, 2009
Calendar16 Sat, 26 Sep 2009 16:00:19 UTC +00:00
As another week draws to a close, the App Store expands even further with a torrent of new toys and tools. As ever, I’ve hand-picked four recent iPhone releases for you to take a look at. This week I’ve given our picks a creative vibe, selecting four different apps that let you engage with your artistic and cultural side. My top pick for the week is Xewton Music Studio, plus I’ve been looking at Snapture, GraffitiGeo and McSweeney’s. Armed with an iPhone, there’s never been so much choice for making music on the move. Despite all the choice, the recording app I keep coming back to is FourTrack. It’s a fully-featured 4 track recorder, complete with bouncing, panning, metronome and Wi-Fi sharing. When it comes to full on audio sequencing and sketching out bigger ideas, I head for Intua’s BeatMaker. The app costs twenty bucks, but for producers it’s definitely worth Read More
Snapture Labs and Occipital are bringing their popular photo-taking application to the users of non-jailbroken iPhones. I’m talking about Snapture, which is no longer available through Cydia, only — you can get it “legally” from the AppStore, as well. Those not familiar — who haven’t followed IntoMobile closely — should know that Snapture’s trick is in using the special technology which makes photos taken with the iPhone and the whole process of taking photos much better. Among the application’s features, we highlight: If all this sounds interesting — and trust me when I say you’ll use Snapture rather than a built-in camera app, all the time — prepare to pour out $1.99 to download the app, which BTW is available in 12 languages. AppStore link is here. Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most Read More

First Look: Snapture comes to the App Store
Calendar16 Wed, 23 Sep 2009 23:00:00 UTC +00:00
If you were one of the brave few to begin jailbreaking your iPhones back in early 2008, you probably came across what I considered the best app available at that point: Snapture. I always wanted to get more out of my iPhone camera and this jailbreak app helped me accomplish that. Fast forward a year and a half and you'll finally find Snapture [iTunes Link] in Apple's App Store. This is primarily due to the fact that Apple has opened up more and more of the iPhone OS with each new release of the SDK. Is it perfect? No, but with the given access to the Camera APIs, applications like Snapture and Best Camera can finally exist in a world of harmony with the big wigs at Apple. In regards to functionality, I've always been a huge fan of Snapture. It's simple, but it works. I don't have to touch a Read More
By Rene Ritchie, Wednesday, Sep 23, 2009 | Snapture [$1.99 on sale - iTunes link], as can be seen by that little price and link notation right there, has gone from a must-have Jailbreak-only app, to a new home in Apple’s very own iTunes App Store. For those unfamiliar with Snapture, it takes the iPhone camera experience to another level, such as taking photos by tapping anywhere on the screen (or lifting you finger off the screen), variable image sizes, pinch-to-zoom up to 5x, 8 direction alignment level and rapid-fire multi-shot (3 to be specific) functionality. (Yeah, color mode and taking pictures with the volume buttons didn’t survive the cross-over, but a satisfying amount did). If you want to get a lot more out of your iPhone camera, give Snapature a try and let us know what you think! More screen shots after the break! Read More

Nice eye candy
chris24net 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
But until you can utilize the focus and exposure control the 3GS gives you when you click on a spot you want to focus on and base your exposure on, it's useless. Right now, clicking always triggers the camera. Need some options to allow focusing.
Missing some features
[TheBORG] 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Amazed that Snapture is in the App Store, but disappointed that it's missing some features that were in the jailbroken version. PLus it doesn't work with the 3GS' AUTO-FOCUS feature. Once all of those features are put into this version of Snapture, it's not worth the $1.99 it's selling for right now.
Great Features - but
ljmjag 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
it needs to utilize the automatic focus features of 3.0+ so that you can fix on a focal point for the shot. Also, having a steady shot feature would be appreciated. If those features were added, this would be a 5 star app.
Great features...
Geforcer 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I like the many great features this app offers! Quickview is great, resolution options are a plus, and very nice zoom capabilities! I would however like to see a few things changed/added. First off, please remove the title bar at the top that is wasting space. Secondly, a nice feature that could be added is the anti-shake stabilization that many other apps offer. Granted this may not be needed by some, but is nice to have. Third, a few more guides/cross hairs would be nice.
NEEDS AUTOFOCUS AND ANTI-SHAKE!
iamskoon 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
As the title says, Snapture needs autofocus and anti-shake to be the best. It is so crucial to have the clearest picture possible with the poor iPhone camera. The anti-shake feature should be sensitive to avoid snapping a picture with minor movements as that blurs out the picture. HOWEVER, the quickview and quickdelete is AMAZING. Overall a good purchase at the limited time offer because the updates will make this the best camera app. Without autofocus and anti-shake, the regular price is just not worth it. I will change to 5 stars once these two features are implemented.
Over hyped
HaTTz 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Over hyped for right now! This is my 3rd Camera App. Camera Zoom, Camera Genuis and now this one. Snapture has the best zoom so far, when taking the same picture with all three camera apps Snapture zooms in the closest. But that pinch and zoom is far more work and now you need two hands to work the app. The other two apps have a slidebar that works great for the zoom. The 3x rapid pic works really well for Snapture. Like the preview ( picture in picture) BUT the last 4 pics don't stack on top of each other like in the screen shot. They stack on each other like playing cards in a solitare game. And you won't be able to see all four pics. I really wanted to love this app but I'm not seeing it's Greatness so far! 
A great replacement for the default camera app
DrOther 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Snapture definitely knows how to create good software, and this app shows it. The little features throughout are polished to no end, easily seen when using the QuickView - it's fast, well animated, and intuitive. Things a camera app SHOULD be so that you can focus on the subject and not the software.
Finally! It's in the appstore!
Tesseract 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Considering the recent spate of apps pulled for so-called replication of base functions on the iPhone, (GVMobile, Google Voice, etc)I didn't think this would make it through the approval process seeing how it is better than the base iPhone camera app. Combined with Photogene, PhotoFX, CinemaFX, & FocalLab, you really have a nice way to capture and process some very cool pix that can be immediately uploaded to online photo sharing sites like Flickr, or PhotoBucket using one of their native iPhone client apps.
Snapture is finally here
DrMarkus 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I can't believe it. Snapture is FINALLY on the app store and by the looks of it they didn't compromise on very much. It is still the same well designed Camera application that I know and love. Full screen snapping means no more hunting for the camera button and the PiP (thumbnail) feature was always my favorite.
This is what I have been waiting for!
Bback 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This must be a good day because my favorite camera app is now on AppStore! This app is so smooth I freaking looooove it.
Another Jailbreak Favorite Makes It To App Store
Navec 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is a nice application. Easy to use and really extends the utility of the camera. It was selling for $7.99 on Cydia. Great buy.
Just lost a reason for jailbreaking
ltoutlook 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I don't jailbreak my phone anymore - most of the reasons I did are now in OS 3.0. Now with Snapture in the App Store, another reason just bit the dust. Snapture is great and makes your camera function even better. I have a 3G so I need to coax a little extra from the camera. Snapture looks like it will play nicely with a GS also so when I upgrade phones I will be in pig heaven. I may even be able to just carry my good camera and use the phone for my point and shoot.
Why !
Pikachu89 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Why only Support for FW 3.1 ...? need fullscreen mode i lke this !
Great app
HH_000 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Very useful - loads fast with a slick interface. Would definitely recommend.
Snapture = Amazing
Zak Saber 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Truely amazing app. I thought it was the one on Cydia lol. Needs option to take pictures with volume rocker. Speed improvements on saving images and launch time. The interphase is done very well : ) @saberserene
Wow Hell did Freeze over, can't believe snapture is here
RedG 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Finally the best camera app is here, I've been waiting a long time for this
Great App!
rjmarsh65 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Best photo program for Iphone.
Wow
GraceLS 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Takes a bit to learn all functions but worth it. Took place of reg iPhone cam.
Great app but needs work
Pherball66 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great app but what is with the banner at the top? It takes away alot of the screen just for the name of the app. Also, the multitouch zoom is nice but using the whole screen like camera zoom would be much nicer. It is hard to use 2 hands all the time if you want to zoom in. Otherwise it would be a 5 star.
Super
Michael Chang 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Does everything it says and better than any camera app. Tho camera genius is great too with it's friendly interface.
Great. But
JoelieJoelie 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Works as advertised. Easy interface quick cool I would like to have ability to choose focus area inorder to control exposure ala iPhone cam.
:)
Jeckylberry 5.0 stars Version: 1.0

Best camera... But
Killtrend 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Please add anti-shake! Also: previous poster, to see thumbs click stack.
Integrate video capture for 3GS
Dv98188 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
If video capture was integrated, this will be the best camera app in the store. Plz integrate video capture on next update!!!!
It is…
MR F! 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Good!
Amazing
Pic2022 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Very very good replacement for the camera. This is also instant at taking pictures unlike camera genius which I wasted money on. Everyone buy this.
Great for Taking Pics of Kids
memark 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great app for getting pictures of your kids. I use the multishot feature and discard the pics I don't want before they ever show in the camera roll. Zoom is not bad for a digital zoom. I have a 3g so missing autofocus is not an issue for me. Great job developers!
Simply a must-have.
Zach26LA 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
The features are wide but non-intrusive. This application becomes indispensable inmediately after installing.
Excellent!
gemineye1969 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Does everything it says does. Worth 1.99 for sure!
Awesome
skittles1020 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Awesome app, has features apple should have added to the phone from the start!! Now all we need is a flash
Excelent
gustavopcarneiro 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Ten times better than regular câmera
Great camera app
Kennesaw, Ga 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Best app for taking pictures! Although it could include some other features, such as filters, auto focus, anti-shake but also option to upload to various social networks, such as facebook & twitter!
Best app in the entire store.
Gene Frenkle 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Snapture was one of the few reasons to Jailbreak, now it's on the app store. Once they get all of the old features on this version and maybe a few more it'll easily be worth the $7.99 regular price and then some.
