Shazam has been a great tool for identifying songs heard on the radio or in a store’s speakers, but it had the “flaw” of having to hear the song in question. Used to like this I had this installed on my HTC Desire for a while and it worked really well. Had to delete it to free up space. Just re-installed it again and it refuses to connect to the internet. I tried changing the port as suggested, but still won't work. All other apps get online OK, so it appears to be a SoundHound issue. Will persevere for a day or so, but it will be binned again unless it gets resolved. If connecting 5 stars, currently an unusable 1 star :-(

Another awesome app that helps you find songs when you play, sing, or or hm it! It gives you a long time to play the song and it finds it fairly fast, it also shows your history. Normally it does not find it when I or someone else hums or sings it. Sometimes it finds things that Shazam does not find; other times Shzam finds things this cannot find. It allows you to bookmark, share, buy, look at lyrics, watch on YouTube, similar artist, song album appears on.

I am used to Shazam, this application's chief competitor, on my sister's iPhone 4. Even though I only used SoundHound briefly on my device (Asus Transformer Prime, v4.0.3), I can tell immediately that it trounces Shazam! It's extremely accurate (as long as you can hold a pitch and sing clearly), mostly conforms to Google's "Holo" design principles for Android, launches quickly and without error, and is packed with useful features. I wish it offered more than just Amazon for purchasing facilities - maybe integrate Google Music, iTunes, Zune Marketplace, and so on? Still, for a free solution, it's utterly excellent.

I've had this app for a year now and realized I haven't written a review for it. It is one of the most feature packed, user friendly, and accurate apps I have ever had. One of my favorite features is how the lyrics to songs actually scroll along with the song that's playing. When we're having a party, everyone is gathered around my phone and were all singing along with the lyrics. (Try a rap song...funny) Some of the other features are: - Hear a sample of all the songs on the album - Of course, purchase the song - Share via email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. - See YouTube videos of the song you're listening to - Find similar artists - Lyrics - Artist bio, song bio, etc It always amazes me how it will ID even the most obscure songs. It has ID'd well over a couple 1000 songs for me since installed. Love this app, it's the BEST!!! Never had any issues with it crashing...NEVER
