No doubt gameloft is the flagship, for any gamer looking to scratch that console-esq itch when it comes to graphics, and gameloft delivers mid/high end ps2 grfx every time, this game is no different. But this has to be the definition of substance sacrificed for grfx. Obviously the grfx are good, screens are true to gameplay, but the AI, is about as dumb as a rock, infact I have never played a game with an AI as bad as this on any igame to date, maybe even any game period. Totally unresponsive, guys just run around in circles, saying " die fisher, die" you may be concerned about the stealth? Yes there are tons of shadows that aren't really apparent in the screens, but the stealth is so half hazard, and the AI is so bad that, taking cover in shadows to avoid enemy detection is pointless, endless your on a none detection stage, in most cases so far, it's easier to just run and gun it, I mean literally, there are times when it's more difficult to take out the bad guys behind cover because of the glass walls(often, and in other games too, tho you have a clean shot and fire, the game will not register/ respond to your action as if you are still to far away, or that something is blocking, even if it's just two feet away with nothing but your barrel and their head) all the cover positions are scripted, there is no manual crouch, etc, a icon pops up when your near a specific wall, or other construct that the game determines is the time to take cover. So tho to many peoples fears, it is a stealth game, but not manual stealth, where you can crouch, post up, hide behind any construct in the game of your choice, think of it as a stealth game on rails. And as always, gameloft has yet to make a actual different game, it's basically same engine, same textures, same mechanics for the most part. It's like gameloft games are like the two sided coats, same coat but you can flip it inside out and it's a dif color and all. The game isn't bad bad, but it's just gl seems to not have any motivation to realize, these are not mobile phones, I don't buy games, specifically gl games for a quick pick up and play, when I have 5-10min, I buy them in hopes that it will immerse me in a well laid out story, disrating and consuming me from more meaningful responsibilities, like work, school, friends, like any good game, but you really can't play this game with a straight face, as far as AI go's this is their worst, I mean the fight and combat scenes in general are the biggest joke this year. If you dnt have the iPhone version, and held out like me for this one, I'd wait for a price drop, but 10$ is well worth it seeing how besides "prominiHD" the iPad has been a redheaded step child for the last month concerning any game worth having the iPad for, what I'm trying to say is as ridiculous as the AI might be, it's still worth the price of admission on the iPad. If your just looking for a really fun game in general to play on your iPad, this is a great game, if your looking for a splinter cell game, or console quality AI, even compared to the psp version, you will be sorrily disappointed. This game won't wow you, because it's typical gameloft shine, I think we all know gl can make shinny eye candy, but they proved more than I think any other game or argument I have ever heard concerning grfx vs content, and after gaming for 10 years I can say without the slightest hesitation, without responsible content etc, grfx are a huge second place. Gameloft just needs to get another department that specializes in content, it's like the have a new team to do graphics for higher end devices, but they have the same programers they used for mobile phones of 5 years ago, maybe they have relations with the head honcho, been there for so long no one want to fire them, maybe they helped start the company or something, but someone needs to get repositioned in another department, it's like ordering a really cool pair of shoes off the net, but the company forgets to send the shoe strings. This should be a game you'd want to show off to friends and such, but the AI and stealth action is so horribly scripted, that even your average non gamer would notice the mechanics are off. All and all, like I said it's worth the asking price if your just a casual gamer looking for something new, but if your looking for core stealth gameplay, or core gameplay in general, you might want to wait for a price drop, not saying it's bad, but it's typical gamelof, they have yet to do anything really core yet. If this helps I'd rather I had gotten zombie infection HD, even tho I already had the iPhone version over this, and even tho I got stuck, mainly for the action and gore, so if you are on the fence about what HD title to chose, I would def go with zombie infection, and that's based of me playing the iPhone version game inx2 on the pad, but it depends on what your taste are, tho I haven't completed the game, ZI has far more action, gore, responsive AI, and overall quality when looking for a console like experience, you won't feel like you accomplished much in this game, it's more just for fun.
