Solid ereader

If you only plan to install one ebook reader on your iPhone, then this is the one to install. It reads the most popular formats, gives you a wide variety books to choose from, and the selection of free books is astounding. You can change the font type, size, and color; paper color and texture; and more. I am actually reading David Copperfield on my iPhone. I wouldn't have thought it possible.

I've spent some time comparing Sanza and eReader and I've come to the conclusion that eReader is the superior program.
Stanza is a strong app, but it has a few serious flaws when it comes to handling the library. First off, it uses a "dumb" sort when listing by author. Umm... Guys... H. G. Wells doesn't go under "H", he goes under "W". Second is that the app can't tell you as simple a thing a how many page are in a book.
EReader handles both of those things without a hitch. Come on, Stanza, it's not exactly rocket surgery.
The big advantage to Stanza is that it has more built-in sources for content; and in the end, of course, content is king.
Great start, but only a few things missing

I absolutely love reading on a portable device. I have been doing so for several years now. This is so much cleaner than the other apps available now. And you really can't beat the price. However, it really need inverted text display (white on black) this just makes reading in the dark so much easier on the eyes. Secondly, I realize the page changing from side to side serves as a way of chunking the data for loading purposes, it also acts as a closer analog to a real book. However, this is so disconcerting while reading. I really want full chapters in a scroll view that I can slide up with my thumb while reading. To me it is fundamentally a better experience on a device like this. Aside from these to issues, this application is stellar. Great work, great features. Keep it up.

The ebook reader I was looking for!

As a mac user, I find this application just about perfect for my needs (ymmv). I can load any ebook I like, the user interface is great and I can change the settings to make the books more readable. You can change: text size, text and background colors, font, the length of the 'page turn', the spacing and page controls. Even if you don't like the default interface it is easily customizable.

Just checked the developer's website and, lo and behold, there is now a Beta release of a PC desktop reader... it has some issues (what beta doesn't?) which they clearly spell out, but this is now a 5-star app!
Awesome App

This is a great App. for anyone who is interested in online books. It's very well done and stable. It comes with one book, "The Time Machine" but there are hundreds of books for free in the catalog for download. How could you go wrong. Good price too.
The Best
The best free e-book reader in the store.

You won't regret downloading this application. Yes it is first version and hopefully their will be updates, but this is the best reader you can get right now, and it's free. I love the easy to download free books that it has to offer.

Well I don’t usually rave about apps but I simply have to about Stanza. If you like to read then it’s a must-have app for your iPhone. I had been waiting for Apple to come out with some sort of competition for the Amazon Kindle and here it is.
MUST READ BEFORE BUYING ANYOTHER eREADER!

I am really glad I put off buying bookshelf because I found stanza while just browsing. It has more features than the other ereaders & it's free. Yes, you can read PDF, txt & even kindle books from Amazon. The downside is that it will not display graphics at all (to save resources), which is no big deal for most books unless your PDF book happens to be pictures of pages not the typed version. I didn't know there were different versions of PDF filed but some PDF books are just pictures of the pages, btw, you know this by whether or not u can highlight individual words or not. If it is just a picture then this program reads it as such & won't display it. I haven't encourered it yet but you might.
I hope this program catches on. I like a programmer that helps out the community, eventually he said he may charge ($10-15) once the bugs are worked out but until then it's free & better features then the rest.
So thanks programmer & to all the user, spread the word.
Works well and can load your own books

This reads a wide variety of ebook formats including pdf files. You can also load your own ebooks. To load your own ebooks you need to load Stanza for the Mac. Next you open a file on the Stanza application on the Macintosh. You then make that Stanza application on the Mac sharable. Next you set Stanza on iPhone to browse sharable documents and you'll see your Macintosh and eventually find options to physically download the file to your iPhone.
Amazing App!!! Deserves to be #1- Windows now supported.
I downloaded this program, on my on-going hunt for the perfect e-book reader. Well, this is it. This simple and elegantly designed program makes it easy to ready ebooks on the go. Basic little feature that help.
Not bad, but not perfect.

My favorite part about Stanza? It allows you to easily download free ebooks from within the app using Project Gutenberg. Forget the hassle of other programs, Stanza makes it easy. But you spend most of your time reading these books, not finding them - Stanza rocks at that too.
What I've been waiting for but...

I like that this is free AND I can transfer stuff from my computer. The problem is that this "Stanza Desktop" mentioned in the info isn't available on Windows.
Improbably amazing
It seems quite unintuative that reading a book on the iPhone would be a pleasant experience.
However five pages into the book the iPhone 'dissapeared' and I was just reading book.
If that isn't success I don't know what is!
correcting errors in some other reviews (and it's a great app)
Correcting errors I've seen in other reviews--
Finally . . . the ebook reader we have been waiting for
To say the least I am thrilled.
Simply awesome and free!!!

This app just made my jaw drop. The available titles are great, and there are quite a few to chose from, including some new releases that are CC licensed. I'm glad I didn't get a kindle because I shan't be needing it thanks to stanza. Now if you will excuse me, I have some classics to read.

I bought one of the single books before I got stanza and when I found it I was pissed that I hadn't earlier. It holds many books and many are free. Too bad I had bought that other book.
Outstanding Reader
I've purchased a few of the standalone books and installed some of the other free-book readers and this puts them all to shame. Thanks to Stanza my iPhone is now a library - if you want a pocket full of literary goodness, don't hesitate download Stanza now!

This is the best application that I have downloaded. The only thing that would be better is a search feature, but I wouldn't even say that is necessary. Thank you!!
Great book reader app, keeps getting even better
My title says it all.
Almost perfect eBook reader
I bought the iPod touch 2.0 update hoping for an app like this. Now I can enjoy my favorite medium of entertainment on my favorite entertainment device.

After moving from my Palm to the iPhone, my major regret was the loss of a good eBook reader app. TextOnPhone was a good alternative, but was a web app only. I found Stanza after purchasing two other eBook app's first. I wish I had found this one earlier.
