StumbleUpon updates its iOS and Android apps
Calendar16 Thu, 06 Oct 2011 08:33:28 UTC +00:00
StumbleUpon has updated its mobile apps for iOS and Android-based devices. Version 2.0 looks like it has been revamped from the ground up, featuring the all new “Explore Box,” which was already available on the web-based service since August. Moreover, there’s swipe to stumble capability that allows you to simply swipe your screen from right to left to explore page after page of new content. In addition, both iOS and Android apps got a new, improved interfaces with “vibrant thumbnail images” and a “crisp new look.” I like how the new app looks on my II, though I would probably pick some other words. Finally, and this is where it becomes really cool, StumbleUpon for Android now works on Honeycomb tablets, which is pretty important for those of you with the Motorola Xoom, Asus Transformer or some other Android-based tablet (presuming you actually use StumbleUpon). StumbleUpon remains a free download and Read More

TUAW's Daily iPad app: StumbleUpon
Calendar16 Tue, 26 Jul 2011 16:00:00 UTC +00:00
If you're familiar with StumbleUpon, the iPad app will be a very comfortable experience. Instead of browsing "stumbled" sites in a browser with a toolbar, the StumbleUpon app allows you to visit sites shared by others (within a couple dozen categories like "tech" or "babes") from your iPad, complete with sharing tools and the ubiquitous "Like" or "Don't Like" buttons for each page you visit. The StumbleUpon app is nicely designed for the iPad, with all the features you could access in your browser, somewhat more conveniently arranged around the main window where you'll be viewing shared web content. There's not much more to this app, except that I wish StumbleUpon had taken the opportunity to leverage the touchscreen on the iPad. It is handy to have Stumble, Like, share, forward/back buttons around your viewing area, but there's no real innovation in the app. There are glimmers of hope, as the Read More

A Quick Look at the New StumbleUpon App
Calendar16 Mon, 23 Aug 2010 17:23:09 UTC +00:00
Social discovery engine StumbleUpon has released a new iPhone application, bringing the product’s web functionality to mobile devices. For those of you unaware, StumbleUpon, which was established in 2001, is a service which allows its users to browse the web in a casual and possibly addictive way. It delivers random web pages to a user based on their personalized categories of interest and also benefits from social networking features. While using the service, users can rate pages up or down and share “stumbles” with friends and others. The new application, which is available now for iPhone and Android devices, makes the experience mobile. To get stumbling on your iPhone, simply head over to the App Store and download the free 1.6MB application. Once the application is downloaded, installed and opened, the first thing a user will see is a screen prompting them to log in. If you’re one of the ten Read More

StumbleUpon releases official mobile app
Calendar16 Fri, 20 Aug 2010 16:30:00 UTC +00:00
Social sharing network Digg has had their own, official iPhone app out for several months, and now StubleUpon has joined the mobile game. This week, the StumbleUpon app was released for both iPhone and Android devices, finally giving users quick and easy access to browse...er...stumble links that might interest them, depending on their profiles. Just as with the website and its browser toolbar, the app works quite well and quickly to display photos, pages and videos on your device whenever you touch the "stumble" button. Some of the icons aren't obvious as to what they do, such as the one identifying items in your StumbleUpon incoming links box. Other than that, though, it's a well-polished interface. Something the app does not do, though, is allow one to submit new links. For that you will need to use a bookmarklet with Safari or use your desktop browser. The app is available now, Read More
StumbleUpon Comes to the iPhone and Android
Calendar16 Thu, 19 Aug 2010 23:02:36 UTC +00:00
by Content discovery and recommendation engine StumbleUpon is bringing its “best of the web” finds to mobile devices with new iPhone and Android applications. The web version, which enables its userbase of nearly 11 million members to “stumble” across content that other users have recommended, is being tailored for mobile by featuring a “best for mobile stumbling.” This includes photos, Flickr, YouTube and news, making the discovery experience more friendly for the mobile screen and connections. Below that are also the topics that users have indicated an interest in, as well as options to view favorites and recommendations from other users they’re following. The applications replicate the core experience of StumbleUpon on the web, featuring a prominent “Start Stumbling” button that links to a piece of content that users can either give a thumbs up or a thumbs down to, alongside likes, reviews and sharing options. Browsing functionality is similar as Read More

One of the best apps to have on your phone because a) you will never be bored again and b) it will always surprise you, make you laugh or teach you something new. Entertainment, education and inspiration in high concentration at your fingertips.
Finally!
Josh Meredith 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've been waiting for this app since I got my first iPhone! Nicely done, although when sending a message with a stumble, the app doesn't seem too happy about letting me type in landscape mode. It would be nice to be able to manually enter a URL, so I could stumble it to somebody. I do that on my computer all the time, but it doesn't seem possible on this app.
Finally is right!
Cribbs542 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Stumbleupon is fantastic and it now finds itself home on my iPhone dock. Can't wait to stumble on the go
Really useful and fun!

Nice!

Sweeet. I was so happy to see this come to the iPad. Great to see it come to the iPhone!
Good, not great.
Josh Meredith 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've been waiting for this app since I got my first iPhone. This is pretty good, but not as good as it easily could be. What it needs: 1- show my entire list of stumble friends, so I can send stumbles to any of them. As it is, it only shows some of them, seemingly randomly chosen. It certainly doesn't list the ones I stumble to most. In fact, it shows some that I almost never stumble to. 2- Let me type in landscape mode. Currently there seems to be a glitch making landscape typing impossible. 3- Let me type in a URL manually, so I can send people pages of my choosing, not just pages I stumble on. I do that all the time on my computer, but it seems impossible to do on this app.
Hooray!
Marydaz 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I can now easily access my favorited web pages! Thank you! SU is awesome.
Good, not great.

bomb, a sweet! only one complaint is that you cant save images you StumbleUpon into your iphone photo library. Everything else is f'ing sweet!
Feels unfinished.
EchoZol 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Overall I enjoy the layout and interface is nice but the lack of the integration with other SU users really puts a dent in this app for me. Even worse, it crashes when you try to share it via Twitter or Facebook. I would appreciate a prompt update or at least a response.
Awesome
peter licker 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've been waiting for this one... Now I can spend 100% of my time on my phone instead of just 99!
