Sources close to the Windows Live and Bing divisions at Microsoft claim that the company is developing iPhone applications for their respective products. Neowin.net is reporting that both Bing and Windows Live Messenger could soon make their debut on the iPhone, presumably alongside the forthcoming Windows Live Wave 4 updates coming around March, 2010. For their part, the Windows Live team appears to be working aggressively to move its applications to the iPhone, and only last week Microsoft principal group program manager David Raissipour confirmed to Cnet News that “We are actively working on it” when asked about rumors that a Bing app was in the works. The has to be one of the best 2D barcodes that works well with the iPhone's camera. I made a few tags on Microsoft's web site and the iPhone was able to read everyone. Also, the vcard tags came right up and the iPhone was able to import it to my address book. Great job on this one!

Go to Microsoft's Tag page and try snapping the " TRY IT! Just snap this Tag." -- doesn't even work :-o (maybe the tag only be half on the page could be the problem!). Seems to push you to download Silverlight and get a Windows Live account :-0

Fantastic concept that works. You do have to be careful with how you use the tag you create. too much tinkering with image quality/ size and it won't work. Has great potential as a marketing tool. Snap this and get free tickets or contests or get a special video that pertains to a newspaper or magazine article. Would have given it four, but because microsoft is bound to get unneccesarily low ratings from apple fanboys, I went with five.

I'm surprised to see the number of reviews on here from people who just can't seem to figure out how to snap a picture of a full square. If you're going to Microsoft's site you may need to expand your browser window to get the full square tag to work - the phone must take a photo of the full tag square to function properly. If you do that, it works remarkably well. I've created a handful of tags and printed them out, snapped pics of them on my screen and it works very, very well. It's an interesting concept, and I'd like to see it catch on. I'm not sure that it will, though. Only time will tell.

This is a very cool application. This even worked after reducing the image down to 16 x 16px as well as redrawing a tag on a white board! I can't wait to see this put to practical use.

Not sure why many are having problems with this, but you do understand that you can't scan UPC barcodes, right? Very impressive technology and it DOES work!!!!

A must have app!! Tried this out after I saw a post on major nelsons twitter. He made a barcode and it worked perfectly. Can't wait to do this more and see more barcodes in the outside world.

Great app. Especially the abilty to recognize tags while just pointing the camera (without having to take a pic). Now if only they showed how they did it someone might create a barcode reader that works in real time. Wish list : • A tag ring to store all my tags - which I could easily use to share with others. • a key ring for all tags I have captured and saved (not just a history)

Get this now and make some tags while it's free. This is will be the hottest new thing. You can create a tag from the website and email it or print it. Hand it to someone and have them scan it and the message, website, and/or phone number appears on their phone. The possibilities are endless. Not just for iPhone.
