TweetDeck (Twitter, Facebook)

| FREE | Twitter, Inc.
Just a few weeks after unleashing the beta version of its Android app, TweetDeck has been officially released to the masses. If you didn't check out the previous version of the uber-popular Twitter client, which supports Facebook, Twitter, Buzz, and Foursquare, you'll be happy to know that it was built "from the ground up" and has a bunch of cool new features (including ones not available on the iPhone or iPad apps). For example, you can adjust the light, sounds, and vibrate mode of each column (which are organized by type of activity) or type of account, go to the geodata feature to find friends who've checked in or tweeted around you, and pick any friend to add to your favorite profile list for quick access. In addition, the "Me" wall lets you view posts sent to you, or about you. All in all, the new official version has improved on an already great thing. Since it hit the streets last week, the app is already one of the most popular apps in the Android Market. And keep an eye out — new versions of the iPad and iPhone TweetDeck apps, modeled on the Android version, are forthcoming. Read More

Pocket Agent®

| FREE | State Farm Insurance
We all know how dangerous (not to mention expensive) texting while driving can be. It's quickly becoming the communication of choice among teens and adults alike, but there's definitely a time and place to send your messages — while behind the wheel isn't one of them. State Farm Insurance agrees and developed its own Android app to deter avid texters from checking their screens while driving. Called On the Move (Free), this app (State Farm has dubbed it a "widget") acts as an auto-reply when you receive a text, alerting the texter that you're driving with a customized message. The good news is you can add more than one customized message and use the app when you're at the movies or at the gym, and automatically tell your friends you'll get back to them later without ever having to pick up your phone. Interested? See the app in action after the break. Read More

Polaroid PoGo App

| FREE | Summit Global Japan K.K.
It seems there's a new app released daily that can help us either achieve a goal or kill some time. I suppose these two new apps could fall under either category. First up, the PoGo Android app. In case any of you are still using your PoGo printers (or are hankering for a new one), things are about to get a lot easier for you. The new 3x4 version PoGo ($156; out this holiday) will link up to the PoGo Android app, letting you snap pics right from your phone, edit, choose a frame, and send your pics to print on the eco-friendly zero ink paper. The size is definitely more old-school Polaroid-like, so your vintage senses will be well taken care of, while your geeky futuristic side can have all the fun. Want to hear about the spicy new Cosmo app? Then just keep reading. You're already familiar with the sexy advice given within the pages of Cosmopolitan — like how to satisfy your man, best sexual positions, and so on — but now you can take that advice on the road with the new Cosmopolitan Sex Position of the Day app, which gives you detailed instructions on how to perform each position, difficulty ratings, and "tasteful visuals" that show you how it's done. Think this app would never be allowed in the iTunes App Store? Wrong! You can get this app on either Android or your iPhone for $3. How anyone would have enough energy to try each position every day is beyond me, but hey, maybe you gals will have a different take! Instant updates from your friends, industry experts, favorite celebrities, and what’s happening around the world. Read More

Bing

| FREE | Microsoft Corporation
I live in constant jealousy of my friends with Android phones over my favorite Android app — Google Goggles. In particular, the ability to scan barcodes and images for visual recognition is pretty impressive! Now, one of my favorite iPhone apps — Bing — has gotten a big update, and now features my most-lusted-after Google Goggles feature: barcode and image recognition of products. Also in the latest version are improved search functions including search results from your Twitter and Facebook networks, and business list and map view integration with search results. And that's not all the Bing news for today — the web search at Bing.com just got new entertainment features, including the ability to search for Zune songs, artists, or lyrics, and listen to full song tracks for free. If you'd like to purchase a song, Bing offers one-click access to purchase from Zune.net, even if you aren't a Zune Pass subscriber. Read More

iPhone and BlackBerry users have been streaming their favorite TV shows via their Slingbox and SlingPlayer app for some time now, but starting today, Android users can get in on the mobile TV viewing action. Available for $30 in the Android App store, the SlingPlayer Mobile app will allow you to control your home Slingbox Solo, Pro, or Pro-HD from a number of Android devices (including a few HTC handsets we've featured), and watch live TV, On-Demand programming, or recorded shows with just a few taps. Digg

| FREE | Digg Inc.
Last month, Internet company Digg released a free iPhone app allowing you to access and read Digg stories on the go, and now they have a free Android app, too. Both applications allow you to browse through popular and upcoming popular stories to Digg them, add comments, and read full stories in the applications' built-in browsers. You can also save stories to read later, search for any story by topic, and easily share links via Facebook, Twitter, or email. And if you have a Digg account, you're able to log in and access it directly from your phone. Get the iPhone app from iTunes, and the Android app directly from Digg or by searching in the Android Market. Read More
