Further iOS Subscription Support Hints from The Guardian
Calendar16 Sun, 05 Dec 2010 23:59:41 UTC +00:00
The Guardian newspaper has outlined its plans for the next generation iPhone app, announcing their current £2.99 official application will be phased out in favor of a subscription-based app, sometime before the end of the year. There will now be two price points: a £2.99 six-month subscription or a £3.99 12-month subscription.  As well as offering the newspaper’s written content, the new app will provide video, live blogs, live football scores, goal alerts and the chance to view reader comments.  Posting comments doesn’t sound like it’ll be activated in the first release, but is expected to appear in a future update. The subscription app will be joined by an international version which will be ad-supported, and therefore free.  The exact release date hasn’t been given, but they’re ‘working towards a pre-Christmas release’, and an iPad edition is also in the works. This news ties in with the rumors that the next Read More

With the introduction of FaceTime video calls, multitasking, and the high resolution Retina display, the iPhone 4 has moved even further away from being just a powerful phone and web-surfing device. iPaying for the news – Capital N
Calendar16 Thu, 07 Jan 2010 13:47:10 UTC +00:00
News houses have been hit hard by a failing economy and by the times. Many customers no longer buy newspapers; instead, they selectively read news sites, feeds, and social network reports. But at the same time, dwindling reliance upon dead trees means less overhead cost. Still, as news corporations face the times, and like the music industry, learn to step to a different tune, consumers will be hitby a wave of new revenue-making schemes. If not portal adverts, online subscriptions and cost per link options are bound rise to popularity. The iDevice, may be another option. Fox News and The Guardian have run with the iDevice, creating pay-once apps that allow precipitate referencing. Below are a few large publications whose N has gone capital: Top Pick, FOX News Pro – $1.99 Guardian News and Media Limited, The Guardian – $3.99 CNN Interactive Group, Inc., CNN Mobile – $1.99 RIV Creations, BBC Mobile News Reader – Read More

Homescreens – Januar 2010
Calendar16 Mon, 04 Jan 2010 11:01:45 UTC +00:00
(5.49 €; App Store-Link), The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition Read More

Time Out London released for iPhone
Calendar16 Fri, 18 Dec 2009 19:15:00 UTC +00:00
Fellow Londoners, it's been a good week for us! First, The Guardian unveiled their iPhone app [£2.39, iTunes link], now Time Out London has finally released their free iPhone app – and it is amazing. This app is worth it for the map feature alone. How it works is a Google Map is displayed with a selection of five buttons: Cinemas; Gigs; Restaurants; Bars, Pubs, and Clubs; and All Arts and Entertainment. Select one button or a combination of the five and watch pins drop on the map that highlight not just the venue, but the event occurring at the venue. A pin will not drop unless there is something going on at the venue. So the next time you're walking through London, you don't have to look up what's going on where on one site then open your Maps at to see where it is; just open the Time Out Read More
Die Zeit der Konsumenten
Calendar16 Thu, 17 Dec 2009 09:42:47 UTC +00:00
Read More
