Apple en Ravensburger sluiten vrede over Memory-games in App Store

Apple en Ravensburger staken in Duitsland hun strijd om de naam ‘Memory’. De spelletjesmaker vond dat Apple iets moest doen aan de vele Memory-spelletjes, die in de App Store te vinden zijn. Ravensburger maakte in november 2011 bezwaar tegen de spelletjes bij de rechtbank in München. Inzet van de strijd was dat Apple de vele games die het woord ‘memory’ gebruiken, uit de App Store zou halen omdat Ravensburger het merkenrecht bezit op die naam. Nu de bedrijven besloten hebben om te schikken kun je games als Toy Story 3 Memory Match en tientallen soortgelijke games straks nog steeds downloaden.Volgende week zal het schikkingsvoorstel verder worden uitgewerkt door de rechter. Details over de schikking zijn niet bekendgemaakt. Naar aanleiding van de Disney-film Toy Story 3 is er een leuk spelletje uitgebracht: Toy Story 3 Memory Match. Het is het aloude memory, waarbij je steeds twee kaartjes bij elkaar moet zoeken, met afbeeldingen van de karakters uit Toy Story. De applicatie is gesponsord door de Amerikaanse speelgoedketen Toys ‘R’ Us. Het spel bevat twee manieren om het te spelen: je kunt een race tegen de klok houden of een normaal spelletje spelen, alleen of met iemand anders. De snelste tijden worden bijgehouden in een scorelijst. Voor de liefhebbers van Disney-applicaties is trouwens nog meer nieuws. Mickey Mouse heeft, na Winny The Pooh zijn eigen interactieve puzzelboek gekregen.
