Trainyard [$.99 / Free]creator Matt Rix is working on a new update to Trainyard. Over the weekend, Rix was posting images of an upcoming level editor that will be included in an update dubbed the “Engineer Update.” From the images we’ve seen so far, we can tell that you’ll be able to create and share your own user-created puzzles, as well as download others’ creations. It appears as if there will also be some sort of ratings feature, too, as a promotional “Features” button figures prominently on this piece of UI in particular. You could already share your Trainyard experience from the get-go by uploading videos to the game’s official Web site. This, I suppose, is sort of a natural evolution of that side of the puzzle game’s experience. About four days ago, I was sitting in a waiting room about to board a train. Bored, and a little restless, I pulled out my iPhone 3G to take a look at the App Store and see if there was anything new that I could download to kill some time. Recently, I'd almost given up on visiting the App Store. With the frustrating performance of my 3G, downloading apps and using them had become more of an endured task than a pleasure. But, on this particular day, I went straight to the UK free download charts hoping for a gem. Matt Rix's Trainyard [99¢ / Free] has actually been available on the App Store for quite a while now, but it wasn't until the recent Retina Display update that it popped up on my radar. Trainyard is a puzzle game which, as the title hints, involves routing trains around. The games begin with a long tutorial (almost too long) that goes over all the basics of the game. In a nutshell, everything takes place on a 7x7 grid which begins filled with two or more train stations, one that the train comes from and one that the train needs to go to. Initially routing these trains around only involves drawing track between each color coordinated station, but before long you'll be routing multiple colored trains from the same originating stations through various switched pieces of tracks to several different stations.
