The next time you’re tempted to overpack, remember to take half as many clothes, twice as much money, and your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. An iOS device can replace paper maps, books, and travel guides; and the information you’ll find in apps and iBooks is more timely and relevant anyway. Obviously you won’t need CDs or a portable DVD player -- or pricey hotel or in-flight pay-per-view -- to stay entertained. And by posting photos or blog updates about your vacation online, you won’t even have to send postcards. To prepare you and your electronic travel buddy to hit the road, we found the best apps, gear, and know-how to keep you connected. Travel can be tough on your iPad or Read More
The Great Electronic Arts 99¢ Sale of 2010
Calendar16 Thu, 16 Dec 2010 12:23:29 UTC +00:00
It seems like whenever a holiday rolls around in the US, all of the major developers put their catalog of iOS games on sale in an effort to ride a wave of publicity into the top app charts. Electronic Arts is no stranger to this practice, and in observance of a very special holiday this Winter they have dropped a huge number of their games down to 99¢. Yes, that's right, EA is having a sale to celebrate forum moderator ImNoSuperMan's birthday. Just kidding. It's a Christmas sale. Or rather, a "Holiday" sale. Whatever the politically correct reason for this event is, the bottom line is that you can get a ton of EA games for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad for just a dollar each right now. (Note that some of these titles actually launched at 99¢, or have been that price for a while, but have been added to Read More

If you’re a fan of receiving free candy or for cleaning off an absurd amount of toilet paper off your front lawn, then you’ll know that Halloween is nearly upon us. Most people celebrate Halloween by paying money to go to places for the sole purpose of possibly getting frightened, walking with their children to complete strangers homes in order to get a treat, or keeping all of their lights off in order to avoid wave after wave of trick-or-treaters. If the last example sounds like your kind of Halloween, then why not take advantage of the big Halloween sales a number of iOS game publishers are offering for this weekend only? Playing on your iDevice of choice would certainly keep strangers from knowing you’re home, so give it a try! It seems like the quality of trivia games on the App Store varies wildly from ports of time-tested classics like Trivial Pursuit [$2.99] to Justin Bieber Quizzle [99¢] and and other celebrity or TV show specific quiz games. MovieCat! [$2.99] is a breath of fresh air in that it not only seems to be a comprehensive movie trivia game, but it also features cats. Lots and lots of cats. MovieCat! is created by the movie trivia hive mind that is FilmWise.com who are also responsible for the Invisibles series of puzzles, as well as trivia found in various magazines and newspapers around the world. The game begins by asking you for your name, and selecting a difficulty ranging from easy to hard. This controls how many cat lives (of which you have 9) you can lose on any given puzzle. From there, the first of five rounds begins. Each round consists Read More

by Game-maker Electronic Arts (EA) is selling a big chunk of its iPhone game library for just $0.99 per game for the next 48 hours — a steep discount for many of its titles which include Madden NFL 2010, FIFA 10 and SimCity. Not all of EA’s games are on sale, though. Sure, SimCity is $0.99, but [iTunes link] is still a steep $6.99, and while FIFA 2010 is just $0.99, the more timely [iTunes link] hangs at $2.99 — though that’s not a bad price, either. EA is one of the world’s biggest game publishers. Its EA Sports line of games is at the top of the heap, and franchises like The Sims, Mass Effect and Medal of Honor have at one time or another led in sales or influence. Increasingly, the company has extended those franchises to mobile devices like the iPhone. The full list of games on sale Read More

The titles on offer are as follows, and clicking on a link will take you directly to iTunes. EA Holding Massive $0.99 Sale for 48 Hours
Calendar16 Tue, 22 Jun 2010 14:04:00 UTC +00:00
EA is holding a massive $0.99 sale on over a dozen titles. The sale will only last 48 hours, so you have to act quickly. The games have been nicely organized by niezam into games that have never been $0.99 before, and ones that have (U.S. Links): $.99 for the first time $.99 once or several time before While all the games are good values for only $0.99, we'd probably say Need for Speed: Shift is the "must get" game from the list. It has frequently been cited as one of the best racing games for the iPhone, so it's a good one to have. So, I wrote iTunes (reported a problem) when I received my bill. And even though the game's info says that it's in English, and it's not, I was told that there is nothing that they can do for me, that the 'functionality of the game is Read More

August 21st, 2009 Daniel Silva Amber Alert! Amber Alert! Stack up on some iTunes Giftcards as the avalanche of sales keep on coming! Please remember that this post only covers sales since yesterday. Trivial Pursuit Review: Great iPhone Reconfiguration

May 4th, 2009 superbad Maintaining the core gameplay and twisting the it a little bit are two of the challenges classic ports always face. How does the next game live up to it? Trivial Pursuit ($4.99) Hells yeah! It’s one of the classic boardgames and one of our favorites growing up for the iPhone. You can bet we were ecstatic upon seeing it in the store. EA Mobile does a very great job maintaining the spirit of the game and somehow polishes the game enough for the iPhone. It looks and plays great, and there’s really nothing to complain about. Let’s try and exactly find out why?! Presentation The game looks super polished for the iPhone. EA knows they had to do it, if they want any chance of getting noticed. It looks like it paid off based on chart ranking and overall Trivial Pursuit popularity. The question wedges and the Read More

The Classic, and still the best. Beautifully designed, elegantly adapted to the platform, fun, challenging, interesting questions (with no repeats yet), innovative new play modes, no annoying fake gameshow scenarios... Trivia games on this device have been sadly lacking in quality until now - BY FAR, THE BEST TRIVIA GAME ON THE IPHONE. Finally. Trivial Pursuit FTW!!!

This finally got me to put down UniWar...Pursuit mode is so much fun that I haven't even played Classic yet. The multiple choice aspect may seem like a dumbing down of the board game, but the difficulty level of the questions compensates for this; unlike Jeopardy where the multiple choice answers are so easy that it makes one of my favorite games almost unplayable. The only thing I could ask for is more questions in an update somewhere down the line. I know the 3,500 questions the game comes with is a lot, but I also know I'll be playing this game long enough to go through them all!
Awesome

The games well worth $5. Though I wish there was a way to select the skill level. Also it would be nice if EA would add more questions over time so you would never encounter the same question twice. Probably the best trivia game for iPhone so far!
Fun!

Can't wait for this game to really take off so the wifi will have lots of players.
Awsome Game. Please add expansion packs for OS 3.0
Star Hedgehog 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I have checked everyday for this game and I bought the day it came out. It is really fun, and is a great part of my trivia apps screen on the iphone. With the new iPhone 3.0 OS coming this summer, it was reported that users could pay for expansion packs for apps and download them straight from the app without having to reinstall the app. This would be perfect for Trivial Pursuit and other EA, Hasbro game apps. My most favorate Trivial Pursuit board edition is the Totally 80s. Thank you very much.
About time

Washingtonitunes 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
If you like trivial pursuit and you've wanted to play it on your iphone then this is the app for you! There are different playing options so you can play a game on the plane ride home alone or if you want share with the person in the next seat. Game loads up pretty quick and i haven't had any crash problems. Questions are very current (there was one about Grey Anatomy 2008 episodes) and offer a great range from easy to difficult. Over all it is very well done.
EA has done it again!
Chadwick, SD, Ca. 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This game is difficult to put down. I love all the options it offers for gameplay. The pursuit mode is also way cool. No regrets, worth every dollar. I can't help but notice the poor reviews due to crashing. The only way to prevent this is to reboot the iPhone after downloading, or even set it to airplane mode or both. Problem solved. This app for me has not crashed once, with hours of gameplay, and I can still recieve e-mails, text, and phone calls with no hic-ups. I say this from over 160 app downloading experience(yeah, I know, Sad but true). That said, this game won't dissapoint. Truly, this game rocks!
Frustrated....

It is a fun game IF it opens or stays open. Most of the time it won't even open far enough to choose a game type. When it does, and I have to walk away for a few minutes, my iPod falls asleep then the game won't start up again.
Love the but

Not enough questions

On my first game (wifi) my wife got asked the exact same question I was asked one question later. Come, surely by now you can stop repeats.
Not Trivial

This ROCKS! I love the board game but this is BRTTER! I don't need to make anyone play with me! Yea!!!!!!
Great, even by yourself
Bobert 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I got this to play with other people (pass and play), but I tried it out by myself and found it to be a lot of fun. I played on my iPod 2g for about an hour and had no problems at all. The Pursuit mode is great, and gives levels to beat. If you enjoy trivia at all, this is great!!
Won't Open-Crashes

Excellent
Mbizzlebahn 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Beautiful, flawless interface. Easier than the real thing, since it's multiple choice. Gotta have it!
Great game

To speed up the roll of the die just click on it and it will quickly stop rolling. Great graphics and trivia questions
Trivial pursuit
Playertriv 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Played for 45 minutes. Very addicting. But went to play again and it won't open. There is a problem somewhere, but I am not knowledgeable enough in this field to give a guess. Hope it gets fixed. When it does, I'll change my rating.
Crashes/Freezes and WiFi Disconnects
SirGreggo 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Crashes and freezes all the time. Wifi mode disconnects and game isn't saved. Have to restart the game every time sonit can crash again. Atleast scrabble saves the game and crashes all the time. Will be good when bugs are fixed.
Fun. I get happy when I when.

This is a great game I just played classic and I didn't play Pursuit. I Bet it is more fun than classic I also love this game because it's from EA and EA can do everything good. Just ignore icazzi. He's cranky.
*Major* Flaw in Game
chazr 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This would have been a great game except for the fatal flaw that you can't save a game. Games can be lengthy but there's no save option, much less an auto save as in the Scrabble game. It's a real problem to play a full game unless you have a full charge and are not expecting any calls!
Been waiting for this ever since they announced it!
Euthanasiast 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Finally! I was checking the app store every Tuesday morning hoping to see this since way back in October when they announced it. Great job!
Waste of $5
DahcSiwel 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
As if having only three options wasn't easy enough, the questions themselves are insultingly stupid.
what's up with the questions asking for the names of movie stars or writers from other cultures
virwol 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
fails frequently freezes occasionally and what is up with all the questions about Chinese and Japanese books and movies. I get a question that is not related to western culture about every twenty questions if not more. This app give me a headache. Thank goodness it only cost $5.00
Couldn't have been more dumbed down.
Iathycs 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Science and Nature has questions about sci-fi movies. The questions in whole are either absurdly simple, or ridiculously obscure. Three-option multiple choice is not a great format for Trivial Pursuit, but the least the eggheads at EA could have done is properly catergorize their questions. This game desperately needs difficulty levels -- as-is games come down to who gets a lucky streak easy answers and lucky guesses. Games can be won without your opponent (or yourself) ever taking a turn. This is a polished interface, but a poor collection (and organization thereof) of trivia. This is good news for some; if you regularly get spanked at 'real' Trivial Pursuit, then this is your version. Like a game of War, it's almost all luck.
Would be 5 stars but you CAN'T SAVE GAMES!!!
clayewi 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Why in the world would such an excellent game with such a huge company behind it have this fatal flaw. If your game is interrupted by anything the iPhone does (such as getting an incoming call) YOU LOSE YOUR GAME AND HAVE TO START OVER!! This is insane! Further trivial pursuit games can last a while so it would be nice to just be able to resume later BUT YOU CAN'T - AS SOON AS YOU EXIT THE APP YOUR GAME IS LOST!!
Better if it was Internet online playing
Gmgrl2 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Again, I wish these games were made for "online" playing. Unless you have someone on the same network and the same system you don't have noone to play with ( I didn't realize what "local wi-fi" meant) After playing with the computer for awhile game gets boring. The pass and play makes it better, when I can find someone to play with. Hope that an update make this possible. Games like trivial pursuit are just no fun unless able to play "online" with players from around the world.
