True Weight App Review
Calendar16 Sat, 13 Feb 2010 21:32:53 UTC +00:00
Everyone gets concerned with their weight at one time or another in their lifetime. And pretty much everyone tries dieting to keep their weight in check. But did you know that the majority of people who start diets quit them within their first week? So how can people be more loyal to their diets and actually lose weight? Well one way is make a strict schedule that reminds you to stay on task. An of course there’s an app for that. The True Weight app for the iPhone or iTouch can help anyone lose weight and stay healthy. True Weight doesn’t set out day to day exactly what you have to do, what you can eat and stuff like that. Instead it helps you set reasonable goals for yourself. You start out by entering your current weight in the app and then it will break that weight down and tell you Read More

Maybe I just don't get it...?!?
mangaphreak 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
I probably either just wasted a few dollars on this or I'm not using it right...!? First of all I wanted to go back to when I began my diet 3 months ago and start entering my weekls weight since then -- but it only let me go back one month...!? Also going back by having to tap day by day takes forever...
So Far, So Good
Wudkayaker 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
So far, I am very happy with True Weight. It has an excellent interface that is well suited for iPhone and it "just works." My suggestions would be 1) that it be able to hold on to more than 28 days of data...sort of like the built-in "Stocks" application that allows the user to sort data by day, week, month, 3 month, 6 month, 1 year, and 2 years. That alone would make True Weight a 5 Star App. 2) Entering weights is a little less intuitive than I would have initially thought. I love dragging the scale around...but then I want to be able to hit "enter" or "save" somewhere...but this is done automatically. This part is just not all that clear. Overall an excellent app. Oh, and this application has NEVER crashed on my iPhone.
Great App.

Being heavy, your weight can change day to day quite significantly! Having a simple tool like this helps keep me you motivated.
Great app!!
aloshka 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
Great app! Tracks your weight even if it changes. Shows your "true" weight. My only request entering would be much nicer with just a digit pad. Dragging the stupid scale just takes too long and is cumbersome. Just a keypad would be ideal. And 100% agree with reviewer that requested stock-app like views for a month, 3 mos, year, etc. Would make it 5+ stars if that's possible.
crashes every time
chjabu 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Obviously not ready for prime time. Once you enter your weight, the program crashes. Tried several times and got the same crash every time.
Overall thumbs up

I like the application, there is a quirk that keeps me from entering todays weight sometimes but i figured a work around. It does keep me focused on the weight loss trend. I have lost 15 lbs since focusing on weight loss, and sure I could track it on a spreadsheet but my iPhone is always with me.
Terrible Application
bdsbill 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
What a waste of money, i wanted to go back a month or two and enter some weights, but it wouldn't let me. It crashes all the time.
Excellent to keep me motivated
hwitt 5.0 stars Version: 2.1
Have used the app over a month now, along with a couple of other weight related ones. I like this one in particular because of it's "true weight" calculation, which I assume is some averaging formula. Simply seeing a number as a real weight presentation makes it easier to stay motivated on the the days when actual weight shoots up.
Great app, SIMPLE
jxx 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
In my opinion this is one of the two best weight apps in the app store. It is very simple (which means that I actually use it: daily!). The graphical interface is excellent. The weight averaging gives you a much better picture of what is actually happening with your weight. Have been using it since it first came out. 2.2 update to OS has eliminated any stability problems. Highly recommended.
Very helpful
RDakari 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
This is a must for people who want to properly manage their weight and have found that daily fluctuations are hard to keep track of over the long run. Only downside is that it often crashes after weight input. This is only corrected if you turn off your phone and re-open the program.
Works quite well
Liquisoft 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
I haven't experienced any of the crashing some reviewers are complaining of. The only reason I gave this 4 out of 5 stars is because the app doesn't feel feature-rich enough to justify the price. Apart from that, I find it quite nice.
Current Version Crashes
oshaheen 3.0 stars Version: 2.0
Very nice application and simple to use. However, it crashes every time you click on "show progress". I'm going to keep this app in hopes of an update, this is only their first version.
Crash-o-matic
Adillus 1.0 stars Version: 1.1
Crashed every single time I tried to use it. Never recorded anything. Completely useless. Total waste of money.
Really helps track progress
amteixeira 5.0 stars Version: 2.1
I tried several other weight tracking apps, but none comes close in terms of ease to use and actually helping you understand your progress despite the normal weight fluctuations you have in a daily basis. Calculating the "real weight", which I suspect is nothing more than a moving average, gives you great understanding of your weight loss or gain trend. The calculation of an equivalent calories deficit or superavit is also excellent, for it gives you a tangible connection between you habits (eating or exercising) and weight change. It could include a BMI calculator, but I believe the improvement would be marginal on this excellently designed app.
Great App but missing BMI
jared747 4.0 stars Version: 2.1
Right now I'm running this and Weightbot on my phone. The only thing that makes me keep both is the BMI function on the later, I find the graphs on True Weight better on comparison to WB as they are more readable. I would also like to see a projection to your goal weight somewhere as well as the ability to see your history more than 3 months at a time by swiping back under the current range (1-3 months). Keep up the good work developers!
simple and effective
ctucker10 5.0 stars Version: 2.1
Nearly 10 years ago I used a method very similar to this to calculate my weight. I discovered it as part of a program called the Hacker's Diet. At first, I used a spreadsheet with with embedded formulas to do the calculations. Then I found a Palm Pilot application (The Eat Watch) that did the same thing, only better. It's nice to see a simple and effective tool like that one updated for the iPhone.
waste of money, crashes all the time
revh_oh 2.0 stars Version: 2.0
will only save data if I exit the application. hitting the 'show progress' button crashes the program every time. what a waste of money.
Most used app
design_fan 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
This is probably my most used app. I read The Hacker's Diet about a year ago, and found using the median weight a fantastic way of keeping myself motivated (or at least, not discouraged). The interface is clean and simple, and just does what I need it to do.
Lame
Cheezer8 2.0 stars Version: 2.1
Pretty lame. Can't see a table of all weights entered, graphs points before the first entry, baffling interface.
I use it daily
yuditr 5.0 stars Version: 2.1
Really great. It keeps you sane while dieting. Does not let a day of sudden gain break you down. Does not let a sudden loss create unrealistic expectations. It is like a good objective friend that teaches you to take your numbers realistically. I really trust it. Even when the "true weight" seems totally crazy and offset, a few days later I always find out it has been very accurate in it's predictions. On top of that it works in us, European, british units and it is extremely easy to go from kgs to lbs to stones. A click of a finger will do. Highly recommend.
Disappointing
MrsPeele 1.0 stars Version: 2.1
Perhaps it's because I've only been using this for a few weeks and perhaps it's because I only weigh myself once a week (weighing every day is ridiculous). The last time I entered my actual weight and locked it in, the software lowered that weight and my "true weight" became the weight I entered. Also there is no way that I can find to review a history of data entered. For a program that is so keen on people weighing themselves every day it seems lacking. I don't recommend this to anyone. An excel spreadsheet does the job much better.
Slick and Functional!
phopkins 5.0 stars Version: 2.1
True Weight is an excellent little app that does what it says, attractively and efficiently. I especially that the Daily Energy reading is so prominent; it's an invaluable statistic for people like me who are on a calorie-counting diet. The graphs look nice and are easy to read.
Lousy App
Rcarian 1.0 stars Version: 2.1
I like the ability to quickly enter my weight. However, this app thinks it is smarter then my scale and displays a so called "true weight" which is not the weight I entered. There may be a defensible reason for this "recalulation" of my data, BUT in order for this app to have any use to me, I should be able to simply elect to display and chart the weight I entered and not some recalculated number. WTF ! This app is useless until it is fixed and stops thinking it is smarter then I am. I have a very accurate scale and weigh myself every morning at the same time. This app should be able to display and chart the numbers I enter, if that is what I elect to do And that is what I want.
