It’s time to take a look at my recommendations for iPhone, hand-picked from the week’s App Store releases. This week I’ve been looking at Mujik, Whiteboarder, Qik and Civilization Revolution. (Free) There’s a special screen on my iPhone dedicated just to sound toys and music apps. Top of the list is FourTrack, which recreates the classic analog four track recorder on the iPhone, complete with metronome and bounce downs — it really is an essential tool for music makers. In the sound toys section, I have RjDj and Bloom, and now Mujik, a brand new electronica toy from App Store newcomers Lucky Frame. The app does away with traditional tech-infused electronica interfaces, instead offering up tilt-activated hot air balloons and a shelf of dusty old books filled with musical bugs. Despite the fact that the interface does away with a traditional feature-laden sequencer interface, there’s a surprising amount of depth and Read More
Qik - ein weiterer 3GS Video-Recorder
Calendar16 Fri, 14 Aug 2009 07:14:35 UTC +00:00
Qik Arrives on the iPhone (But There’s a Catch)
Calendar16 Thu, 13 Aug 2009 23:27:46 UTC +00:00
by Qik, the live mobile video service, is available on a wide range of phones: Nokia smartphones, BlackBerries, HTC phones, Samsung, Motorola, Android phones, and more. But that list is missing one: the iPhone. Since the iPhone 3G didn’t support video, Qik could never make an app for Apple’s popular smartphone. But with the release of the iPhone 3G S, that all changed. Video on the iPhone was possible. And as of today, Qik is available in the iPhone App store [iTunes Link]. While we’re pleased to see Qik finally arrive on the Apple phone, there is one big catch: it can’t stream live video. The nice thing is that Qik allows you to upload video from your camera roll. Additionally, Qik has auto-uploading: once you stop recording, the app will begin uploading your video immediately. You can also shoot video in portrait and landscape mode. Finally, it supports its location-sharing Read More
Capture Your Summer with Great Mobile Video Apps
Calendar16 Thu, 13 Aug 2009 04:00:00 UTC +00:00
One of the first appearances of a mobile phone in a major Hollywood movie was in director Billy Wilder's 1954 Audrey Hepburn classic, "Sabrina". Today, millions of phone owners across the world could recreate "Sabrina" from start to finish from the comfort of their hand held devices. In fact, if we chose to, we could mobilize a global streaming event. But let's be honest, the last thing we want to do is sit inside story boarding a pre-existing movie. It's the summer! Get outside, grab your phone and capture some of the great moments happening around you. Below are some of our favorite mobile video services. 1. Ustream: Ustream recently announced the launch of their Recording App for the iPhone 3GS. The app can syndicate video to Ustream, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook. Ustream also lets mobile viewers discover new videos by common hashtags in the Media Feed. The company's recently launched Read More

It’s time to take a look at my recommendations for the iPhone, hand-picked from the week’s App Store releases. This week I’ve been looking at Gomi, Ustream 3GS Recorder, Simon the Sorcerer and Minigore. ($1.99) I’ve been waiting for Gomi for what seems like an absolute age now. The game’s developer, Bovine Dragon, is a regular tweeter and so when I woke up this morning to read that Gomi had finally been approved by Apple and released to the App Store, without even rolling out of bed, I immediately purchased the app. I’ve mentioned it a few times over the past few months, but to recap over the premise, the game blends Katamari Damacy object-rolling with planet hopping à la Mario Galaxy. The graphics are so lo-fi they look to be drawn using MS Paint on an old IBM running Windows ’98. It’s charming, fun from the start and really easy Read More
By Rene Ritchie, Saturday, Aug 8, 2009 | Cali Lewis of Geekbrief.tv rounds up some of the news from last week that TiPb somehow didn’t get to, including the iPhone mirroring a WiiMote, the new UStream 3GS Recorder app [Free - iTunes link] that lets you record and upload video to Ustream (no live streaming though…), and the first signs of life for the TomTom car kit for the iPhone… along with a big UK price tag that makes us think it may land at US$200. While Cali recently broke her iPhone, and Apple’s App Store shenanigans have encouraged her to look at alternate handsets to replace it with, here’s hoping she stays iCali for a while still and helps all of us help Apple evolve their thinking… Read More

Ive been looking for an app that I could use to upload videos to Facebook for free and this one does it. Im assuming streaming on Ustream isn't supported by the 3GS (except jailbroken). Otherwise it would have been a great edition. I'd love to see this functionality merged into the other Ustream app so I can watch, upload, and manage my account all from a single app.
Sweet app!
Southbay guy 5.0 stars Version: 1.0

luiss 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Finally an app that is easy to share videos with friends. Still needs some work on simple stuff i.e. when shooting video sideways it uploads sideways! (Why?) Still this app is fun to use. Looking forward to future developments.
Great app!
Hamil 5.0 stars Version: 1.0

Considering the Camera app only comes with a video recorder switch on the 3GS and that NO other app in the app store can record video on an iPhone or iPhone 3G, I'm gonna say it's Apple. They don't want video recording on the old iPhones because it's a feature they hope will get people to buy the new iPhone. Yeah, they could add video recording, voice control, numeric battery, accessibility settings, etc. to the old iPhones, but how many people are really gonna switch or choose a $200 phone over a $100 one for a little better battery, more RAM, and a faster processor. I wouldn't have.
Broadcast
Nardy412 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Why can't you broadcast live I had this app on my old iPhone 3g (jailbroken) and I went live all the time if u could go live it would be the best app ever please make that work in the upgrade I will even pay for it

Hands down one of the best app for iPhone 3GS!! I like how u can send a vdo to Twitter.. (: thanks, ustream!!
Great app
Ustreamuser101010 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Realize this. You can't use it on a 3g cause there is no camera. Duh. And apple not ustream won't allow for streaming. That's why it worked when jailbroken.
Too many crashes
wcrocker 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
While the video recording works like a charm, whenver I try to change data in a field the app crashes.
What abt 3G users???
Knowliz 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I remember very well this app used to work for 3G too (on a jailbroken) iPhone. But now it requires to have a 3GS. Why can't this app support both now? I would even pay to have this work on 3G. I don't know if it's Apple's decision or Ustream. But in fact Ustream is going to lose lot of potential users who are going to move to qik now. Make it work for both 3G and 3GS and you get full 5 star fir this app.
Amazing app... ******
iGoya 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I wish I could give the developer extra stars, they deserve it. I highly recommend this app.
Great concept...poor execution
Hardwaybets 2.0 stars Version: 1.0

Has potential, but not complete. Won't upload and keeps crashing.
Strange Sounding Audio
Playzabass 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
When playing back a stream locally, the audio has a strange high pitched sound.. Almost like feed back.. Other than that, pretty cool app..
Where is the broadcast
RAOM 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Ustream have a broadcast app where is it, ustream are the best on this but ones again where is the ustream broadcaster app?...... I use to go live all time now is just a regular video recorder that iPhone allready have.
The services isn't called Urecord...
tolliewilliams 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
The services isn't called Urecord... and since Ustream has already developed a live STREAMING app for the jailbroken iPhone, this is clearly Apple/at&t's fault. I look forward to the full responses to the FCC's inquiry from both of these companies.
:(
nikolaev74 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
It worked with 3g only 5 minuts. Then crashed and never start again. 3g have camera but not video recorder like a 3gs. Everything easy, thay just f***ing greedy. Thay want u buy new one iphone.
Can't upload even with full Wi-Fi
Stargate Command 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Takes a video fine but won't upload to server. Hangs at either "waiting for upload..." or "Upload in progress... 0%" This app needs to go back to the testing lab!
Needs to work on iPhone 3G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AnCa16 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
It's not fair that this doesn't work for the iPhone 3G!!!!! A lot of people dont have enough money 2 change phones!!!!!! Change it & it'll get more stars!!!!!!!
Really good app
JDIZZZLE1000 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I Really like the app. I have uploaded 3 videos in total, so far no freezing or crashing! Its runs great on my 3GS. I would pay $1.00 no problem. But its free so I wont : ) .Good App Ustream
This app does nothing!!!
Thisappsucksdontbuyit 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app is really useless, it should allow someone to broadcast live using their phone and on top of that it crashes a lot. Everything this app does at this point, the iPhone already does and this app is not needed for anything.
The consumer pays the price again...
Revbeej 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I too am looking forward to the outcome of the FCC's enquiry. But, ustream should get their act together as well. Their other app was great and then they turned around and crippled it.
Why password?
