I want to become a vegetarian but food is so bland or ordinary but this app changed all that.... I now have varity.

A lot of easy recipes that do not require tons and tons of hard to get ingredients. All recipes are also very adaptavle and contain links to other recipes and ideas

Mark Bittman has managed to put together a comprehensive collection of some truly lovely, and in many cases exciting (to me at least), vegetarian recipes while maintaining his reputation as a minimalist. However, the volume of mistakes/typos in the "steps" set those of light to moderate experience in the kitchen up to fail. Be sure to trust your instincts (&/or know-how) when attempting these recipes.

The multiplicity of recipes and variations as well as clear instructions for preparation make this app very helpful for those wanting more from their vegetables. I would love to see the addition of nutritional data as well as indications where it is ok to lose some of the fat/oil and where it is truly indispensable for the dish. Every sauté does not need to start with 2 tbs oil, or at least I think so....For now I am learning as I go and this app gives lots of ideas for combinations of foods and flavors.

Perfect for anyone on the go. Easy access to fantastic recipes. Love the option to create shopping lists. As others have noted, the only thing missing is nutritional information, but overall, worth every penny!

I haven't used this as much as the non-veg version, but it's been great so far. Great recipes, clear instructions. If it contained nutritional info, it would be 5 stars. Even if you aren't vegetarian, this is a great source for veggie and grain recipes.

Layout is great. Fun to browse, love the kitchen instructions.

Every time I use the app I find exactly what I need in terms of saving, sharing, and preparing recipes. The vegan search feature is fantastic, and, for an admittedly lazy cook like me, it really seems like most of the recipes are relatively short and simple on ingredients and steps. Actually there are multiple filters, so you can say "vegan" + "fast to make" for example. I especially like the "related recipes” feature. For example, say you are making baked tofu, it will give you a link to "10 ideas to use this for"; or for Braised Thai Vegetables, it links to "Good dishes to pair with this". For $5, I really couldn't ask for more :) It's worth 3x the price!

Great search/list and fun features! If it had average nutritional/caloric content, it would be perfect. :)

The recipes are very simple and easy to follow. I have found that most turn out to be kid friendly which is an added bonus :-)

I have all of the books, but I really enjoy having the recipes mobile. Come to think of it I have all of the apps, too...

I'm a recent full-vegetarian convert and am still learning a lot with recipes, substitutions, etc. This great app makes delicious meals easy, fun to create, and are realistic with time and manageable number of ingredients for of us who work/have lives too. Bittman's books are proving to be amazing too- enjoy!

Do I buy a second Bittman cookbook to keep in the car? Or do I buy a smart phone? I love the app AND the phone.

I use this app so much. I wish it had more recipes, because I feel like I'll have made them all pretty soon! It's great when there's a sale on something at the grocery store and I haven't a clue what to make with it - I just search for key ingredient! And try making the vegan variation of the oatmeal apple cookies. They're amazing.
