Today, the company announced its iPhone app, which we called “an Instagram for video,” has been downloaded 500,000 times. If you recall, Viddy [iTunes link] is a social video app that lets users apply filters and other effects to short clips shot on their iPhones. Panic at the Disco recently launched a campaign to crowdsource its next video via the platform. The band has several million Facebook fans alone, so we can see how signups would be accelerating in part due to that initiative. Cool idea...needs some work

This is an interesting idea, I liked it when 12 Seconds tried it and I like it now...but upon using this app for 5 min I've already found some flaws.1. The like button on the feed just plain doesn't work. You have to get to the individual post page for it to work, and that's a place that's seemingly difficult to get to. 2. The app truncates my "title" or "caption" or whatever you want to call it. This is a huge oversight...it looks like it only gives 27 characters, and it forces capital letters for each word. Coming from using Instagram this is really off-putting when attempting to give context to something. 3. The process of selecting the different input fields and making changes to txt is awkward. I often have to go back over what I typed and change something (due to crappy autocorrect) and the normal process of bringing up the little magnifying glass to scroll through what I wrote is totally different here. Normally you select the field you want to change, then hold down on the line to bring up the magnifying glass. In this app when you touch the field again it deselects it. Anyway, quite annoying4. Copyright probably doesn't allow it, but it would be awesome to be able to choose music from iTunes for the video. Or at least be able to choose from a bank of music instead of it being married to the chosen effect. 5. it takes a REALLY long time to apply an effect. Not really the apps problem as it is a problem with adding effects to videos. 6. Didn't find my friend that I know has an account through any of the provided methods. I had to manually input his username. 7. This is video, there should be a landscape interface. There are probably other issues as well, I understand this app is quite new. I really appreciate what you guys are trying to do here, it's an interesting idea...I just think it needs some work. I'll gladly change this review as problems are addressed.UPDATE: Just saw that if you don't geo-locate for foursquare it posts as me being "@ (null)" this is REALLY sloppy coding. This app needs a LOT of work. wait for the updates
