Waveboard 2.0 has just hit the App Store and lets you finally enjoy the innovations of Google Wave on your iPhone with the comfort of Push Notifications. We’ve actually been awaiting the first Google Wave’s client second edition for quite a while now. Indeed, after being announced back in November, the app went through quite some trouble to get approved. Fortunately the wait is now over. Waveboard is a new “ and possibly first “ Google Wave app for the iPhone.  Here ‘s a portion of its App Store description: A very simple front end for Google Wave. This client shows the standard web presence for mobile devices provided by Google Wave.  Website links will be shown in an integrated separate browser view. Google Wave on the iPhone, in theory, would be a great way to use Google’s new collaborative chat service. So, when we first heard that Waveboard for iPhone launched as the first Google Wave iPhone app, we were excited to try it out. Then, we realized that the Waveboard app is nothing more than a Google Wave viewer. Waveboard basically does what Google’s Google Wave mobile website does – it simply lets you view “waves.” And it costs $1. Color us unimpressed. To be fair, Waveboard includes an integrated browser and a “shake” feature for reloading waves. Push notifications are working through a workaround, but Waveboard’s developers say that proper push notifications are on the way. If you're lucky enough to have a Google Wave account, you may be familiar with Waveboard. I started out using Wave via a Fluid SSB, running Wave Growl for Growl notifications and Dock badges. Then I found Waveboard, and it made things smooth enough that I haven't looked at Wave any other way since. So, obviously, I'd been anticipating the iPhone version of Waveboard. It's here, and it's, well, moderately interesting. The desktop app is essentially a Single Site Browser, like a Fluid app, but it adds handy, Mac-like keyboard shortcuts, Growl notifications, Dock and Menubar notifications, etc. The iPhone app is the same, a webkit browser showing what Google already provides, but there just wasn't as much potential integration to take advantage of on the iPhone. Google Wave just hit the App Store with Waveboard, its very first iPhone client. We’ve told you about it a week ago already but it’s now official. It doesn’t really revolutionize the approach as it’s very close to the version you would get on mobile safari but it does makes the experience a little smoother. It allows you to access your waves, answer or open included links in a separate browser view. Finally it lets you shake your iPhone to reload or logout. The app is not amazing, I’m personally expecting a lot from Google Wave and an app that just puts it in a frame for $1 is a little short.
