More than we'd like to admit it, if it weren't for Wi-Fi, we might not know what's going on at all times of the day. But there are other uses for Wi-Fi than merely surfing the internet. More specifically, Wi-Fi can be used to stream movies, control your Mac and--hey!--get you on the internet when you're in a far away country. The Register is reporting that Apple has started to yank Wi-Fi hotspot detecting apps -- commonly known as “stumblers” -- from the App Store, leaving developers completely in the dark as to why. “We received a very unfortunate e-mail today from Apple stating that WiFi Where has been removed from sale on the App Store for using private frameworks to access wireless information,” one developer writes. Apple has pulled various apps for using private frameworks in the past, but in this case it’s not totally clear what rule such scanning apps are breaking.
