The classic children's book Where the Wild Things Are has been turned into a movie due in theaters next week. The promotional iPhone app is something that your kids may enjoy quite a lot. (iTunes link) The app lets you listen to the movie's sound track, see photos, watch trailers and best of all - interact with an on-screen image of the monster Carol. Carol can be tickled, hit, he'll throw things at you, you can put him to sleep at night and he'll eat photos of the contacts on your phone. It's a fun, free little app and is probably going to be very effective in convincing the kids that try it that the movie is a must-see. Parents familiar with the book probably didn't need any convincing. Nice app! Looks great, and interacting with Carol is a lot of fun. Must be a huge file though - it took a lot longer to download and install than most apps. Also, a few slight delays in-app. But really who cares? I can't wait for this movie! This was my favorite book as a kid.

This app is great in anticipation of the new movie. Only thing is when I go to 'more' under videos it takes me to external site. I don't think the videos on that site are linked up correctly. I kept seeing videos about the Watchmen. I still give five stars!

All the preceding reviews must be Warner brothers shills. 87MB! It takes a long time to install and then doesn't work. I opened the app multiple times and never got the menus shown in the screen shots. Crashed immediately a couple of times, and every other time only showed the movie poster. Surprised something under the Warner Brothers brand wasn't tested more.

I would have paid for this app. My daughter won't put it down! She'll tilt the phone and make Carol lean, then shake it to make the earthquake start! This is like pocket gods but with real 3d graphics. Awesome.
