WolframAlpha has finally realized that a $50 premium iPhone app is not going to work. The nice part here is that they have lowered the price, all the way down to $1.99. Sounds nice, and just in case you purchased the app when it was selling for $49.99 or $19.99, you can fill out a form (found here) where you can request your money back. What, a price slashing and taking care of those that made an initial purchase. Its nice to see someone taking care of the early adopters. WolframAlpha, the well-chronicled online computational engine that can dig up all kinds of knowledge and was originally launched in May of this year, now has an iPhone app available in the App Store. The App Store description states that it “plugs directly into Wolfram Alpha’s supercomputing cloud to deliver the unrivaled power of the Wolfram|Alpha knowledge engine to the mobile environment.” It does need to be online to work, but conveniently it includes a special keyboard to make the entry of characters for mathematical and other functions very easy, welcomed by many who would use it, more than likely. Quite a bit ahead of schedule, Wolfram Alpha's iPhone app appeared in the iTunes App Store today. Wolfram|Alpha is in my opinion the biggest thing in online search since Google, if you don’t know it yet I would strongly recommend you to give it a shot. It’s a computational knowledge engine which lets you basically solve equations, ask about historic events, movies, names, compare two stocks (AAPL versus MSFT is my favorite), convert currencies or measures and so on and so on.
