08.10.09        AppCraver recently spoke with Miik McCann, Executive Producer of Seek Mobile Interactive. He shares his experiences developing for the iPhone and iPod touch. When did you start developing apps for the iPhone? Did you have previous experience as a developer? I started working on iPhone ports, of some Nintendo DS games I had worked on previously, back in December of 2008. The company I was working for went belly up and so I hopped over to Seek Mobile as they were getting started. Most of my experience lies in management and design, and they were in need of someone with that skill set. What / how many apps have you made so far? I’ve personally overseen the creation of about 10 different apps, so far, ranging from a tween girl photo app (IPIX) to fast paced bug squishing fun (Cockroach Crunch) with almost everything else in between. Ngmoco has announced that on July 1st, they will be launching Rolando 2 for the iPhone and iPod touch. To celebrate the upcoming launch, they are putting both WordFu [App Store] and Dr. Awesome [App Store] on sale for just $0.99. You can check out the Rolando 2 trailer after the break. Interestingly, they also announced that when they do, they will also be removing the original Rolando [$4.99 | App Store] from the App Store, and suggest that anyone who wants it should get it before then. they posted the following explanation: Basically, we want the spotlight on Rolando 2 when it hits the App Store. We’re not discontinuing support for Rolando, we’re just discontinuing sales. And Rolando may return to the App Store in the future, but if and when it does we’ll want to include Plus+ support for it. Rolando 2 will be rolling into the App Store on July 1, and to celebrate the release of this highly anticipated platformer, ngmoco is having a $.99 sale on both WordFu and Dr. Awesome.  That’s a ton of good news in one sentence. will feature dozens of new levels, four unique worlds, physics-based puzzles, and a whole bunch of new enemies along with a new 2.5D look that will really set it apart from the original Rolando. ngmoco's recent winner of a 2009 Apple Design Award, Topple 2 [App Store] is currently on sale for 99¢. Topple 2 takes the original (no longer available on the App Store) Topple formula and adds additional gameplay modes as well as WiFi multiplayer an email challenges. The premise of the Topple series is simple, you stack blocks of various shapes and sizes to reach a set altitude goal within the provided time limit. Blocks can be rotated to fit better in to the existing stack and the game makes excellent use of the accelerometer. If your tower of multicolored blocks isn’t as sturdy as you would like it to be, tilting the phone left or right causes your stack to lean, potentially giving you the extra bit of stability you need in order to not send everything crashing down.
