To say that a lot of software has passed through my iPhone's home screen is an understatement. Between apps that I bought and apps I've been asked to try out, my iPhone has been subject to more software than I ever expected. With the year drawing to a close, I decided to take a look at my iPhone home screen and mention some titles that have displayed sticking power. This is the one I play most often, but......NEW UPDATED RATING.....now superior to Lexitron

This one is the closest to the original TextTwist, and is more comfortable to use than Lexitron, but the letters are way too small. The words completed don't alway line up in alphabetical order, either. That being said, it does recognize some legit words that TextTwist did not, and the format is something I'm more used to. I like that it has no sounds so you can listen to music while playing. The adjustable time clock is a nice feature. I definitely like it better than Sextuple, it's more challenging, and I can't get used to the Lexitron format, where you have to double tap when completing a word. Fix the type size, and you'll have the closest thing to the original. Look at TextTwist format, it has much larger font in the same amount of space.

iphone newbie

...it keeps me entertained for awhile. I was a text twist junkie on my blackberry. This is as close as it gets right now for the iphone. Would like to be able to place some letters and warp the remaining. Would also like letters to not warp unless I press "warp." Would like to be able to move to next level after finding all words, but have to wait for time to run out. This game doesn't seem to respond as quickly to my touch as others, so wastes precious seconds. Overall? if I had to choose again, I'd still buy it.

No Text Twist Substitute - Dissapointed

Also a big fan of Text Twist. This comes close in concept but the letters are too small to be selected accurately and the layout is poor. Could use a landscape mode, a "last word" button and way bigger letters to select. Do not recommend.... wait for something beter (hello Text Twist!!) Apple really NEEDS a try before you buy feature. I would have not ordered this game and have also wasted money on other poor executions.

Only suggestions are to make the letters as easy to tap as the free version which is about the same as required for this keyboard and instead of tiny dashes, make the blank letter spaces empty blocks like where you form the word but smaller. Also let us change orientation by turning the iPhone on it's side to make more room. This game is really bad for battery life. REALLY bad. Oh yeah, a simple pause feature that lets us get back in the game quicker without hitting start then resume. Pause and resume is all thats needed. I'd also like the ability to tap a word to get it's definition. The scoring is weird. Maybe it should be 10 pts per letter instead of 10 pts per word and give a meaningful bonus like 50 pts for getting all the words. These things would make it perfect if not better than Text Twist. The ability to adjust the time allowed is AWESOME! I'm addicted!

Many of the words are slang, abbreviations, or not even words at all. The sources confirm that some words are not really words. It appears that some Jolt inspired programmer felt necessary to include his favorite letters, and try to pass them off as words. I feel they should stick with a single dictionary, perhaps Webster's dictionary. The game works much like text twist on the Palm. The program is stable, but the timing is off. Would be great if they used real words from a real dictionary. Has the potential to be a good game. Update hasn't improved the core problem with the game, lack of real words.

Love This Game, but...

Hate the new UI. Shuffling letters are distracting and annoying. Colors in new options awful. Hate that time and battery meter is missing at the top of the screen. Prefer scores larger at bottom of screen, as they were, vs tiny at the top. Only complaint I've ever had about original game is that End buttom is just above iPhone Home button, which causes you to sometimes inadvertantly brush across it when pressing the iPhone Home button, losing your game. I have reinstalled the old version and will not update unless desirable changes are made to the app.

When I tried the free version, it seemed as though I was trying to unscramble normal words, if uncommon. Now, it wants words no one but cavemen in remote parts of Scotland ever heard of. These are some of the words from just one Word Warp game: col, cor, lev, ole, orc, rec, voe, cero, cole, levo, orle, vole and ceorl, to which I add, huh? I don't mind trying to figure out words from Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, but I don't know Klingon, other than Hljol, which means, "Beam me up," and after playing too many games with words like I've seen, that's how I feel! Please fix the dictionary or change the name to Word Weird.

Update: Yep, shuffling is REALLY annoying. I'm with Spiderpeople - I'm done playing this game unless and until the shuffling stops. Okay, enough with the layout changes and add more words! The latest update is okay, I guess, with the exception of the swirling warp. I get eye strain waiting for the letters to settle. Go back a step and have the letters stay in one place. Word nerds don't get bored with layouts. We get irritated when layouts interfer with play.

One of my favorite games

I've downloaded a bunch of games and Word Warp is one of the few that I play all the time. I really like the fact that I can set time limits to whatever I want! I pick a time where I'm challenged, but not frustrated because it's too short. I also really like the fact that you can see all the word possibilities and the length of the words. It's not as fancy looking as other games, but that's OK. Maybe some options to change the background would be great.

They've continued to improve this game, and it's now one of my favorites. An alternate (and much harder!) word list, ability to adjust the time required to solve, layout improvements, links to definitions at the end of each round - all make this a much better app. It may be no Lexitron, but it ain't bad. If you like text twist like games, I believe that with the updates, this one is worth the purchase price.

Arbitrary time option and odd words

This is one of my most used apps but I do have a couple gripes. Number 1 was the animation, which they thankfully removed in the latest update. Next, the time option is completely arbitrary. If scores adjusted accordingly with the time then maybe there would be a reason for it, but I would rather have standard time to benchmark against. Anything over 3 min is stupid. Lastly, as others have said, they need to use a standard dictionary. Nite is not a word.

After playing the free version, I had to spend the buck to get it. Graphics aren't epic, but who cares? This game is fun to play! One of the few apps I own that I still constantly go back to. A+++++ Edit: wow. I really like that you can check definitions now. Now I KNOW that some of the words you guys have in there aren't words at all. Still a great game, just need to fix that. Just thought I'd let you know that knifes is not a word. The plural for knife is kniVes. Also the plural for rice is not rices. It's just plain old rice. So is there ever going to be a word update? I have noticed that there are quite a few words in here conjugated incorrectly to make the six letter word. I am all about expanding my vocabulary, but I would like to do it with actual words. If that was fixed, I would put my rating back up to five stars. As it stands, it is a 3 star app at best.
