More iPad apps on sale, now and through the weekend
Calendar16 Sat, 12 Mar 2011 01:30:00 UTC +00:00
So you've picked up your brand new iPad and you need some new apps to install on it? You're in luck -- developers have seen your problem coming, and they'd like to offer you their apps specifically, at a discounted price of course. We posted about some iPad 2 sales yesterday, but there's a whole bunch more on today, and most of these will be running throughout the rest of the weekend. Coming in at just a buck, there's Worms HD, Homerun Battle 3D for iPad and the HD version of the great Spider: Bryce Manor. Gameloft also has a nice iPad sale on, with most of its titles for just a buck. The 7th Guest for iPad is on for just US$1.99, and there are a few other EA games out for a couple bucks more, as we mentioned yesterday. In short, if there's an iPad app you've had your Read More

Homescreens – Dezember 2010 (iPhone + iPad)
Calendar16 Sat, 11 Dec 2010 10:35:56 UTC +00:00
Außerdem verstecken sich innerhalb der Ordner folgende Apps*: Amazon.de (kostenlos; App Store-Link), Convertbot (1.59 €; App Store-Link), AnalyticsPro (5.49 €; App Store-Link), Delivery Status touch (3.99 €; universal; App Store-Link), Dropbox (kostenlos; universal; App Store-Link), iCabMobile (1.59 €; universal; App Store-Link), Skype (kostenlos; App Store-Link), WeatherPro (2.99 €; App Store-Link), Pastebot (2.99 €; App Store-Link), LogMeIn (23.99 €; universal; App Store-Link), OffMaps (1.59 €; universal; App Store-Link), Kik (kostenlos; App Store-Link), PayPal (kostenlos; App Store-Link), Linkie (0.79 Read More
'Worms 2: Armageddon' Launches Into the App Store
Calendar16 Wed, 27 Oct 2010 11:30:02 UTC +00:00
In July of last year, Team17 released their classic artillery battle game Worms [$2.99/HD] onto the App Store. It was great to see such a beloved franchise hit iOS devices, but unfortunately the game was plagued with a number of problems. Performance was subpar even on a then-new and more powerful iPhone 3Gs, and fans complained of certain missing weapons and lack of online play. The game was updated a number of times which resulted in much improved performance, but the promise of additional weaponry and online matches never actually materialized, though they did add a very nice Bluetooth multiplayer mode to the game. Now Team17 has just released Worms 2: Armageddon [$4.99] to the App Store, and it essentially feels like what the first game was always meant to be. There is an incredible amount of weaponry in Worms 2, and local multiplayer with up to 4 players or 2 Read More
Killer Strategies For Six of Our Favorite iOS Games
Calendar16 Wed, 13 Oct 2010 22:27:54 UTC +00:00
Posted 10/13/2010 at 2:27pm | by The Mac|Life Staff We love our iOS games. In fact, we've played some of them so much we were able to come up with some helpful hints for six of our favorite games. » If you’re not playing a Druid character and would like to get some cheap healing, learn the Regeneration spell from the Troll. This will help save Blue Mana and won’t end your turn unless your enemy uses a Resists Magic spell. » Get a Giant Rat mount if you can. The Rat is easy to beat in the training game, and, once leveled high enough, will allow you to avoid road monsters while adding a valuable Cunning bonus in combats. » Practice! Beating even one stage unlocks Eternal mode, which lets you play without a time limit and improve your skills. Use this to your advantage, especially if you’re getting used Read More

IntoMobile’s iPad App Survival Guide: Gamer Edition
Calendar16 Fri, 02 Apr 2010 19:48:32 UTC +00:00
It looks like we’re officially at the home stretch for tomorrow’s release of the Apple iPad as we’re now within 24 hours of its release.  If you’ve taken the plunge and are counting down the hours until its release, this may very well be the longest couple of hours you’ve ever felt in your life.  But hold on.  Have you even thought about what apps you plan on downloading for your new bundle of joy?  More importantly, what GAMES will you be wasting countless hours on your couch playing? Apple flipped the switch yesterday to allow iPad apps to be visible on iTunes.  The thing is, there are already a ton of games available for the iPad, and it hasn’t even launched!  That’s where your ole Uncle Danny comes in.  I’ve taken the liberty of scouring the App Store for any and every iPad game you should have your eyes set Read More

Lazy Upgrade
karkisuni 3.0 stars Version: 1
For an iPad app at this price, Team17 could have done a bit more work. All they did was take the iPhone version and stretch it to fill the screen. The iPhone and iPad do not have the same aspect ratio so buttons end up being stretched and ugly. If it would have been a free update to the iPhone app, this wouldn't be a big deal, but I'm paying for a completely new app. Please, Team17, release an update and do some actual optimization for the iPad. I'm only giving three stars because the original game for iPhone was very nice.
Very good!

It took me weeks to master the ninja rope on the computer and with a controller, so I can only Imagine that this will take the same amount of practice. But even after a few games it is clear that Worms has the potential to be best on a touch screen device. Two items stand out: 1) The ninja rope is impossible with the current set-up because of the large horizontal gap between controls. It seems to make more sense to allow you to click and drag the worm to gain momentum and tap walls to ninja rope again. 2) There is strange lag when using the teleport position. It is a few seconds behind the input. But these are small complaints considering the awesome price and the lack of ability to test on the iPad. Amazing work!
needs work

not a bad first version but it clearly needs an update most importantly the controls need to be much more clear some issues with scaling art multiplayer over multiple devices needs to be bulletproof and awesome
Eh...
bdesign 3.0 stars Version: 1
It's good when it runs properly, but locks up sometimes and then won't startup.
Fun!
Kwadeowner 4.0 stars Version: 1
Just as fun as 10 years ago. Graphics are great and sounds are funny. Team17 please revamp the ninja rope controls and other minor control issues to make it easier. I've jumped into water too many time on accident! That's the only thing keeping it from 5 stars.
No Multiplayer = Not as good as iPhone version
Jesmor3 3.0 stars Version: 1
I bought the iPad version because I LOVE the iPhone app. I bought it solely for multiplayer, but the menu to play through bluetooth to host or join a game doesn't even come up in the iPad version! Lame. That's all I wanted to play was with my friends. I hope this comes in an update or I'm stuck disappointed.
Unstable
GeoMed87 2.0 stars Version: 1
The game itself doesn't look fantastic, but that was never really a concern for worms. The cutesy-style had it's own appeal but the screen just looks a little off somehow, like it's been stretch. The game itself is incredibly unstable. I locked up 4 times while trying to design my own team alone. I eventually gave up and just played the game under quick play. It still locks up occasionally but I've only seen it twice after hours of play as opposed to 4 times in 10 minutes (when creating a team roster). The lock-ups themselves wouldn't't be so bad either if you could restart the game easily. But you can't. You need to wait a long time or turn the iPad off/on otherwise you'll be brought back to the same screen. The game is lucky it got 3 stars. It speaks greatly to the fun off the game but the fact that it breaks so often is enough to dock it 2 stars for me. Come on Team17, have some pride in your product. Bug fixes are not that difficult, there should not be this many in the game
Fun game
John2496 5.0 stars Version: 1
It's great and just as much fun as playing on the iphone version.
Internet Multiplayer NEEDED!
King Macbook 4.0 stars Version: 1
I love this game and it's rocks pretty hard but 2 things. First, It locks up when I try naming my own team and Second, INTERNET MULTIPLAYER option. PLEASE get this to work on the internet! Besides that, it's sweet using my Holy Bomb on worm enemies... LOL!

This app is perfect on iPhone, but not here. The iPad version is just a stretched iPhone one. Text is huge and uncomfortable to read, buttons are too big, icons aren't properly enlarged — the aspect ratio is wrong. It's okay if it was the same app, but they charge you 5 bucks, so it has to be better.
No network multiplayer...
Chris Clements 1.0 stars Version: 1
Wow. Description lead me to assume "multiplayer" meant that I could play with my friends that had ipads. I have loved worms for a long time, but I bought this wanting to play with my friends. Very disappointed.
Waste of money
theron.roland 1.0 stars Version: 1
The controls are extremely awkward and sluggish, where most games that migrate from other platforms to iPhone/iPad platform improves, this one does the opposite, to the point where it's almost not playable anymore
Great game ! those voices are timeless!
crisblyth 5.0 stars Version: 1
What a cool game, those voices in the game great, especially 'Soul Man' & 'Angry Scots', who did those ? Keep up the good work.. I wish there were trails left by the grenades so I could see how to adjust if I miss... .. just sayin' :)
Worms
JoshDHP 4.0 stars Version: 1
I prefer playing this on iPad. The extra screen space is helpful but it's easy to see some stuff is just taken from iPhone I.e. The weapons thumbnails are pixelated. I'm a long time fan of worms and in my opinion Armageddon for pc was the best version. Sometimes these mobile versions feel like a lite version. I'd like to see the ability to customize the weapons in multiplayer and I'd love to see some of the weapons return like the homing pigeon and the old lady
