10 New App Store Games To Watch [July 11 - 17]
Calendar16 Wed, 20 Jul 2011 12:54:11 UTC +00:00
I’m sure the top story this week is 9mm from Gameloft, but I’m going to mention Pocket RPG, the latest offering from Crescent Moon Games.  This stylish RPG should be a treat for anyone that likes dual stick games or rougelike offerings.  I just wish they would have released the iPhone version first.  Racing seemed to be a prevalent theme this week.  If you enjoy futuristic jaunts you should check out Protoxide: Death Race from HeroCraft.  On the other hand, if you just want to cause havoc in the current era, Reckless Getaway might be more your style.  Finally, those that are more interested in proving their skills than causing any damage at all should consider Xtreme Wheels, a trial bike game that offers some really intense graphics given the game’s style of game play. – HeroCraft is probably most well known for some creative and fun puzzle games, but now Read More

iPhone App $1.99 Our Review By Rob Rich on July 14th, 2011 Rating: :: SHAKE IT OFF Xtreme Wheels is a fun and physics-heavy dirt bike stunt course with a few pitfalls. Developer: Price: $3.99 Version: 1.0 App Reviewed on: iPhone 3GS Graphics / Sound User Interface Gameplay Re-use / Replay Value Overall Rating: Okay, someone has to say it and it might as well be me. Xtreme Wheels looks and plays an awful lot like 2009′s Xbox Live Arcade release, . An awful lot. I know there are similar titles out there that do similar things, but none that I can think of are quite so… well, similar. I’m not saying this is bad, since Trials HD is an exceptional game and having its equivalent on a portable iOS device is fantastic, but the two are so close they look like they could have been made by the same company. Review: Bravo Game Studios Xtreme Wheels
Calendar16 Thu, 14 Jul 2011 13:37:00 UTC +00:00
Company: Bravo Game Studios Price: $4 Compatibility: iPod touch 3G/4G, iPhone 3GS/4, iPad, iPad 2 Editor-in-Chief, iLounge Published: Thursday, July 14, 2011 Category: Games - iPad, iPhone + iPod There's a very odd sort of genius at play in Bravo Game Studios' newest release Xtreme Wheels ($4), an impressive 3-D update to Nintendo's classic motocross title Excitebike. Most of the time, gamers aren't supposed to enjoy repeatedly failing at a task, particularly when the consequence is the injury of a human on-screen avatar. But somehow, with a combination of gentle camera closeups, slow motion, 3-D ragdoll physics and groaning sound effects, Bravo turns every one of your motorcycler's many crashes into an amusingly brutal display -- enough to make for almost sick, repeated enjoyment no matter how many times they happen. Even after mangling that would make Jackass fans wince, you'll want to keep coming back to try and solve each Read More
Today's Wednesday game release fiasco is a little later than most for two reasons- First off, we're really stoked to have finally gotten our hands on the iControlPad, and I wanted to give that story as much attention throughout the day as possible since it's an accessory that many (us included) have been following since its inception. Secondly, we got an adorable addition to the family today, who will serve as mascot and guard dog to the TouchArcade command center. So, this week this standard feature is less of a "coming tonight" and more of a "coming in like a half hour or already out" post. There's a ton of great games out tonight, too. If you're new, here's how this works: iOS developers are able to set release dates for their apps in iTunes connect. The App Store is a global marketplace, and thanks to the magic of the International Read More
