ChaCha Beats Google and Yahoo in Mobile Voice Search Tests
Calendar16 Thu, 13 Aug 2009 14:09:23 UTC +00:00
But was this a fair fight? Mobile analyst firm MSearchGroove has just published the results of a series of tests which show that the mobile search service ChaCha beat out two other voice-enabled search applications on the iPhone when it comes to search query accuracy. [Update, Ed: a commenter points out that the report was actually sponsored by ChaCha] To test this, the researchers used Google's own mobile application and Vlingo for iPhone, an app that lets you search both Google or Yahoo. Oddly, they ignored Yahoo's mobile app, which also has voice search built in. The results of their study aren't entirely shocking: if you want to be understood, ask a human, not a computer. ChaCha's mobile search service can be accessed both by SMS and by calling a toll-free 1-800 number. Since these tests focused on voice search, the phone-in method was used. When using ChaCha, the service identified Read More

Yahoo! on iPhone and iPod touch Beats Blackberry
Calendar16 Thu, 28 May 2009 21:30:08 UTC +00:00
05.28.09        App Score: 8/10    Do you Yahoo? If so, you can now download onto your iPhone or Touch for free. Yahoo has combined news, weather, social networking, and other features into an all-in-one application with a few new features, like a “press and speak” voice input for searching and the ability to customize your own interests for quick viewing. I use Yahoo on my home computer so I already had a Yahoo account and navigation of Yahoo on my Touch was easy. I also have a Yahoo application on my Blackberry device for searching as well. While I’m not exactly comparing apples to apples here and I was using two different wireless networks, I’m still gonna have to say that the Yahoo app for iPhone seems far better than on my Blackberry. I prefer the text input on a device with buttons over touch screen, but I found Read More
Comparing Yahoo and Google'™s Voice Search Applications
Calendar16 Tue, 26 May 2009 16:29:15 UTC +00:00
At the end of last week, Yahoo! introduced an update to their iPhone application (iTunes URL) which now includes the ability to perform web searches using only your voice. This is the first real competitor to Google's Mobile App, whose voice recognition technology came to the iPhone back in November of 2008. Now the only question is how do these two apps compare? If you're unfamiliar with Yahoo! for the iPhone, the first thing you should know is that it's a very different type of app than that from Google. Where the Google app's primary focus is on search, Yahoo's approach is to deliver a sort of "one-stop-shop" type of application. In fact, the Yahoo app could actually replace a handful of the iPhone applications currently cluttering up your homescreen. It provides a number of features including access to news, email (Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, or AOL), social networks (Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Read More
Calendar16 Fri, 22 May 2009 11:20:40 UTC +00:00
Read More

Reviews

Great aggregator
originalflavors 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Climb out of Google's butt and give this app a try. Does a lot of useful things with one clean interface. I hope yahoo continues to improve this.
Really nice
Ray Park 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
It's almost doing better than web.
WOW!!!
xxxciter 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is everything Google SHOULD be! An impressive variety of features -- can do more with this one app than any other first offering I've seen. It even automatically knew who I was... Keep the good stuff coming...you might have won me over from Google (as long as you stay out of Microsoft's bed) -- Google has been put on notice -- we like "pretty" (and "cohesive"!)!
Is this a beta? This app is almost useless.
rockosmodurnlife 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
01 Apr 09: Just tried out Yahoo! Messenger with a friend and it is abominable. No autocaps, no spell check, there's a wait screen when you said a message and it doesn't autoupdate when a friend replies. Simply unacceptable. I haven't run into another mobile IM app this bad. You'd be better off sending an email or SMS. That brings the review down to 1 star. The positives of the news feature can't save this app.
Excellent!
iMacoo7 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Only 1 application to keep in touch with my Y! friends without the need or hassle of other off brand applications!Well designed and UI friendly!
Friggin great
jbrandonf 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Stable, great UI, easy to use and quick to learn BUT I would love to be able to mail news articles. Greatest feature is aggregating social networking. That means it's much easier to update your status all from one app. Just please clean up the menus a little. It's hard to read when some of the text boxes aren't consistent with the rest of the phone. Good job though Yahoo
Nice App.....read complainers!
RenèeV 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app allowed me to delete several apps taking up space. Room for improvement. It's new and I appreciate it. TOO ALL THE COMPLAINERS: it amazed me when I see some jerk not picking a free quality app. I'm sure this takes a lot of work. Do your projects get shot down at work? Would you think that was constructive or are suggestions the way to go. When you spent tens of thousands for a car and there is a minor problem do you run to the dealership with your chest out bitchin about how crappy their car is? This app is free. Approate it or move on. You know who you are!!!
Good, but too much in one app
SVKinAZ 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
There are parts of this app that are very well done, but I don't understand Yahoo's insistence on bundling everything into one single app. I would much prefer to have separate apps for Yahoo News, Yahoo Messenger/OneConnect, Yahoo Mail & Calendar, etc. To combine them all in one makes the app a bit hard to navigate.
Y! OneConnect 2.0??
Amp 77 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Seriously Yahoo! Again? Give us a high quality Y! Messenger only app for crying out freakin loud!! They should have had a messenger app ages ago and just built on to that... Not this cumbersome bullspit they keep putting out This has been my most anticipated app and what a huge dissapointment I know it was free but you owe me a dollar now Yahoo!
Yahoo
Loveloii 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Exactly what I need
Better for news than New York Times and better for search than Google, and it has Video!
newsjunkymonkey 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is a great app. I'm not sure the Pulse stuff is really useful for people that only use one social networking site, but I like the idea. Love the fact that the video content isn't just a bunch of random cats playing with string videos.
Must get
Chi-Town 773 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great app. I love it!
I love it
McCain#1 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I NEVER give five stars!

Dre4presz 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Yaaaahhhhhooooooo! Nice app
Finally a decent app
NolaSicilian 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Finally an app that won't gather dust. This app would be flawless if it would allow users to put yahoo messenger on the main bar instead of being tucked away.
Great apps but closes for no reason
melo1819 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Really good app but fix bugs and have more than one yahoo email address
nice
Croxynd 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Just terrific
Potential
Paras it's me! 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
You have a lot of potential here yahoo. Start working on this rather than the web. And make sure to integrate all the technology you have on a desktop without cluttering. Go! Yahoo! Go!
Woth downloading but needs some improovesnents
Luqven 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
The app is downloading, but needs some improovesnents. I did LOVE the user interface though LOVED IT!!! Things that need fixing: 1: loading times- WAY TOO MUCH LOADING 2: Scrolling- whenever I try to scroll through a page it's foes nuts! 3: Caching: it needs to save certain data and immages so that it doesn't load again every time I go to a different menu 4: MobileMe IM support 5: digg/twitter submissions
Add fantasy sports
Flameboi97 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Add fantasy sports! Please! And make it so you can edit your team and all that stuff.
Awsome
Twilight_Lvr1014 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is amazing I finally get a real yahoo I have been using all the others butthis seems like the real one great job and can you put yahoo answers in there somewhere(over the rainbow...)
really good
€£¥ 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is a really good app if you have a yahoo acount and it's free it just needs to load pages faster
Not better than oneconnect
bb15 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
And it's slow
Useless to me
chillwax 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Would have been great if they integrated yahoo fantasy sports but they failed. Why would I use this app to check twitter when I have tweetie and why would I use it to check Gmail when it's built into my phone. It's just a worthless mashup of services that are probably already on your phone. Worthless.
Ok App, could be better!
TaTaLicious 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Needs to have the ability to email or text articles links to others. I also wish I could read an entire article within the App without getting sent to Safari, kinda irritating especially wen i takes forever to load. Smooches!
Finally a free social news email etc app!!
3xplode/r3generate 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Omg!!! I looove this app!!!! I can't expect more cuz it's free, but this already has so much! Two things: add y! Answers (WITH answering and log in) and meebo messaging.
Looks promising, but doesnt work the way it should.
Dk Danes (G) 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app looks good, but is more frustrating than actually useful. I added my networks on the social network but don't appear anywhere. I customized My Interests but nothing appeared to be added. The Connect page always displays yahoo mail and messenger but I dont want it there and there's no way to remove it.
yahoo!
MapleMan01 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
nice app
Awesme 
DYAlexander 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
WOW! Everything in one place.
Tries do do too much and winds up not doing enough
TechManUSA 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Needs to simplify and become more useful. Also can be unstable.
Fantastic
Jjaoeber 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I primarily use gmail for email purposes, but I've always had a yahoo account. Not only is it a great web based email client but it the connect page is great as well. I use this everyday. Hope it helps!
Awesome app
Yahooppy!! 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I love this app. Way better then one connect!!!!!
Good but needs some features
doymand 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Awesome app, but you should bw able to manage your fantasy team.
A great first release
1angryguy 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I want to start by saying I am a Y! employee but was also critical of oneConnect. Yahoo! for iPhone is a good first version. I have noticed a few UI inconsistencies and quirks but afterall, this is a 1.0 release. Aside from the one or two oddities I like the app. I use it almost daily. I did laugh at the first comment I read, "Get out of Google's butt" and I share the sentiment. Google doesn't crap gold and not everything they do is the end-all be-all. I have used their app and overall I do prefer this one.
It's okay...
jello8josh 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great concept but not all the pages are specifically formatted for the iPhone. Charge this and we are looking at 5 stars.
Yes!!! 
Sylnz 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
I'm glad a Yahoo! app finally came out. The only improvement that I think is needed is sounds. I don't like the idea that I have to keep checking my phone for replies. Plus, I don't get that Yahoo! feel without the classic Yahoo! sound effects. Just my 2 pennies.
Great App that integrates tons of useful info
thewrongglass 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Yahoo has done a great job implementing an app the delivers search, news, chat, social networking, updates, email, video, and a whole lot more in a fantastic, clean user interface. This is light years better than the oneConnect app pushed out several months ago. Good going Yahoo!
Yahoo
Kona11 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is a great ap! It is easy to read & even customize.
Symless
techcat1 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app does everything and works better and faster on facebook then the facebook app itself
Everything is good on this app except for YM!
USA-Scott 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app is a great way to look at my yahoo contacts list, and to access many of the items I have already added to my MyYahoo.com homepage (news stories, stock quotes, sports scores, TV and Movie schedules, etc.) This app can also be connected to Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and other social networking websites, and of course be connected to not only Yahoo email, but also to Gmail, Hotmail, and AOL mail. Incredibly, once you connect this app to Gmail, you also have access to many other Google features too (Google Calendar, Docs, Images, etc.) I have yet to see any other app on itunes that can be connected to so many other things and can also be personally customized in so many ways.
Very clean
Grandpareza 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
It's a very nice app. Slick, clean and fast. No problems yet.
Ummm..
Miniwheat37 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Well this yahoo mail would be great, but I couldn't figure out how to reply! I'd stick with the real mail app.
Try harder next time
Rougewarrior 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Ok so I wanna check my email hoping to see a better interface but basically it's safari with a purple border. Jeez guys what a waste of programming time. You should have made a app that let's me slap the crap out you.
AMAZING
MattRyan28 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
great, has everything you ever need, better than google because in google to get to the calendar there is a link that opens safari, this is done all in the app.
Amazing
Shahzaib 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Loads superfast has everything on yahoo.com and is great no lags no bugs and ITS FREE!!!
Slow
Penquins Progress 2.0 stars Version: 1.0

Thegreatsap 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
The app works great evenif it is loaded with almost all usual features of yahoo. Cudos to the developers who put all together in one mobile space.

Youngstevieg 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Picked this app in England and allowed me to check my emails and keeps up with the US news.
Amazing
M1k3m 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app Everything News Weather Friends Movie Times Its GREAT!!!!!!
Bad
Diegouss 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Too confuse! I cant use my gmail account!
Mail function could have been better
Yen-Chan 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Cannot add more than 1 email account for each email service. Checking emails from different accounts (Gmail, hotmail, etc) is like login using safari. Messenger function works but need frequent "Refresh". Other features are alright.
This app ROCKS!!!
aguamaned 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Ok, the instant messaging portion of this app is a little wonky (just get the Yahoo Messenger app instead), but it's the only app that can post updates simultaneously to Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter! And it works great!
Ok
Starz # 1 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Pretty good app...
Just re-directs to Safari for Hotmail
FunBobbyBoy4566577 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Lame effort for Hotmail connectivity. Show me something new, don't just re-direct me to Safari...which is what i can do on my own!!!
I love Yahoo!
ILOVEYAHOO 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I think that I it works great and I recomend it to everyone!!!!!
Yahoo
FastEddieSRT 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Overall it's a great app....it would be even greater if in email it did HTML and you can delete msgs without going to the bottom and clicking manage messages....messanger works good even in a bad signal (super). Maybe add my bookmarks and or my web instead of just adding onto the app like all other browsers...(you know WEB BOOKMARKS--advantage---no syncing needed) ....another improvement would be a better browser option besides safari if possible...OVER ALL ITS GREAT AS IT IS BUT THESE ARE THOUGHTS FOR IMPROVEMENT...THANKS FOR A GREAT AND USEFUL APP FastEddieSRT
Good idea but...
Luckyliz33 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
I only need the messenger app this is kinda pointless of you have the other app.
Sweet!
c5vettes 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Thank you!
Updated version of OneConnect with the same bugs
Rey G 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
I'm glad that Yahoo finally came out with a dedicated messenger because this will be deleted from my iPhone soon enough. I wanted to give this app a try because it would allow me to access updates from my friends and family on Friendster since there is no dedicated app for it. My contacts on Friendster have posted updates and new photos and although there is a tab for those in this Yahoo! app the updates never get posted (I've hit refresh 'til I was blue in the face). Same with OneConnect. Does anyone at Yahoo! even test the features they tout on their apps?
Ok
FaisaL - BDMIX 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Very messy and confusing but all in one
Crashes...nope - but no loading
Breutanan 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
This sucked because it worked great for about a week then it just would load. It was perpetually in the logging in phase. I thought it might have been a wifi issue, so I turned it on, but nope! I'm sad and unimpressed that a company like yahoo has application issues at all. Perhaps I should have figured that the would though...I'm a Mac user and their application on their loses some of the functions that windows based platforms have. CRAP!
App Is A Great Step 
Cingulair 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
So far the layout of the App is awesome. I wouldn't have thought to  for this. I was a little worried  about Yahoo before and stuff that was in the news. This App alone has strengthened my confidence in the company. I am too over joyed . I can see a strong future because of the strong vision  that was behind this App. It just could use a few more tweaks . I was using the news feature this morning, while I was on the phone, and everything froze . I had to do a restart. Next I love the new email options that we now have . But the address book doesn't allow for editing or adding contacts. That . The address book also is sort by first, last only. No preferential choice.
This is it?
machoflaco 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
A multi-billion dollar company created an app with links? What's happening to this country?
Design better, still don't get it
tm.frmk 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is, I guess, a step forward for Yahoo. It looks decent and doesn't crash all the time. And it's customizable. But that's about it. No means to share news stories, "read only" access to social network services, and constant push to Safari equals fail. Why read a Twitter entry on the Yahoo app? Can't access the link inside the app and have to close the app and open another to respond, retweet, whatever. They're still fundamentally missing the point on what users want to do from an app - especially one that's trying to consolidate multiple services. They need to concentrate on getting the Yahoo stuff right and drop the social network consolidation. Still spreading the peanut butter too thin....
Getting good
Atownshorti 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Update: apr 17 Still using app but can u please let us read news, links in a built in browser instead of going to safari.please.how about more multiple email logins.maybe have a what's hot button to recommend what to add for news, tech etc. Thanks I've been using oneconnect and I must say I love this new app! It's better than yahoo go! And I have to tell you this apps slick and useful but it crashed on me while reading news in featured. So I'm gonna still use it and please fix the crashing
Would rather read the stories in the app instead of opening in safari
d_r0d 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
The overall feel of the app is great, but one of the problems is that any of the stories in the "My Interests" section has to be opened in safari... If that's the case, why not just use safari and skip this app
Yahoo needs to make an iPhone web portal
Aztex00 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
I downloaded this app because I figured it would include an iphone customized email view. No such luck. This loads the same awful mobile mail interface as before.
Nice!
Kereth 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Works great, no problems!
They're trying, but...
Bill in Mass. 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
I want to like this app, really. I like the way it encourages you to "add anything". But it has problems. For me the biggest one is that the links require about 5 taps before they work. Another annoyance is the message that tells you the stories are out of date so tap to update. If it's smart enough to know it's outdated, why not just update it already? If the app werent free, you'd think they get a commission on every tap.
Review
MrsBolin 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I love it!
Yay!
birthdayprez 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I love this app because it's so easy to use...and since my email account doesn't work on the mail feature on my iPod, this works great!
Needs work
roachandant 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Needs to auto refresh, I don't like being sent to safari, needs to have story in app. If I wanted links to safari, I would have launched yahoo.com instead of this app.
Nice
Wizdomseeker 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Works well. Nice ui
Don't waste your time, not yet
YaWhoooo? 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Nothing more than a collection of web links. Anything I tap on just open safari. Joke. This is it Yahoo? I downloaded it because the description states support to Hotmail but just like anything else it launch safari with a link to the web page, I could get there faster by typing the URL manually. Needless to say I deleted it 20 minutes later.
Best news app out there.
Sir James of England 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
All the options you will every need.
more hype than substamce
amcsi 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
In typical Yahoo fashion, the first three tabs are nothing other than news, most of which are "sensational" news rather than "informative" and meaningfully accurate. The only positives about this app is the occasionally functioning IM which is cross platform and the customization features (sadly same poor quality news). There are just way too many higher quality alternatives for multi platform IM's and news feeds for this app to be useful and for everything else its a Safari pop-up window which males having this app in place of bookmarks obsolete. My review would change if Yahoo's good stuff was accessible through this app or even through Safari consistently like Fantasy sports, games, etc. especially given how easily those things could be achieved. Come on Yahoo finish what you started, make it stable and mobile friendly...
Ehh
Granton 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Its good but for the social networks and mail its easier to use their own apps the mail app that comes with the ipod
Still Needs Work On Subsections Such As Fantasy Baseball
Kona Coffee 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Still cumbersome and not accessible when viewing fantasy baseball section. Please keep improviing product. Three stars = Fair in my book.
great app
justwinbaby1969 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
i love my mac and think google is cool, but i don't notice much difference from yahoo(but that's just me) and MYYAHOO is truly much more enjoyable for me. this app has everything i'm looking for, news, news, news and more news. it allows me to access MYYAHOO and gain access to a whole lot. did not take much to set up even for a beginner like me.
wow! my first 5 star rating!!
cardawg29 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
very easy to use. excellent real time updates. a pleasure to use. I love it.
Yeehaw for Yahoo!
znbstr 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Nice app, well designed. Keep up the good work!
Excellent
Joethegamer 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Read the title. Read it out loud. With some energy now. That's what this app is. For the reveiwer that gave a 1-star review because they couldn't see their msn contacts, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?!?!?! You can't give a 1-star review because an app doesn't have a feature it didn't mention in the description! At least give four stars! (and besides, they're two different companies) Worry about more significant stuff, like the speed of the mail part, which is why I gave four stars. Yahoo!, please speed that up a bit. It's inconvenient and slow to close the app, search through nine pages of apps for "Mail," and then open it up on an Edge connection. Until you do that, I'm keeping this review at four stars. Also, please make the news part openable within the app rather than requiring a new page in Safari, which is annoying, and takes away from the blazing fast speed of this app.
Duplicates a lot
Paige's mom 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app duplicates alot of what is already on the phone. I found it hard to use and set up. I thought it would just get my info from myyahoo, but it didn't. The only thing I really liked was the calendar, since the iphone doesn't sync with the yahoo calendar.
decent first version
higuy27 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
I like the idea of the app. I like the fact that you can get numerous things in one app and that you don't have to go to differen apps for all the things you want ie weather, sports, email, etc. But, personally, I would rather go to all those different apps as it gives me a fuller experience and more detail on what I want whereas this app gives you the bare minimum. Again, this is just my opinion. Overall, I think this is a great concept and I am waiting for Google to come out with something similar.
Love it
DrNickBurns 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Awesome app
Add fantasy acess
Rob Bone 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Would b a 5 star app if u had fantasy sports acess please add that to this app that's all it needs!
Really needs a better calendar...

This is perfect!!!
zinkycaborojo 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
It all you get on your desktop from yahoo in the palm of your hands. I seriously recommend this app.
Hotmail? Yeah right!
Ewlwmggw 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
It is so lame that it mentions that you can access Hotmail when all it does is it takes you to the Hotmail website in Safari. Pretty useless. Like I couldn't just use Safari to begin with.
Noooo... Please!!!

Please don't get rid of OneConnect!! It is great!!! This app moves much to SLOW!! Always waiting to load!!! Why would you cancel something that works so much better???!!?
Needs video feature

The app is great, but they removed the ability to text. Sending SMS's was always my favorite use of Yahoo! OneConnect. I am very dissapointed in this removal. It needs to be added once again.
Eh alright
Elayman 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
It's definitely not as fluid as the native mail app but it's alright. One function that I hate is that you must open an email in order to delete it. Not to mention you have to scroll down to the bottom of the screen to find the delete button. You also don't get redirected to the next email but back to you inbox. There is no quick way to delete messages in this app, I'll stick with safari.
Good first effort

Interface is slick, but needs more feature integration.
This is okay??
Texter09 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app is pretty good. For some reason my mail app wont work so i use this instead and it works fine. I also like to read the news with this app but half the time it wont let me read the story. It always says "this story cant be retrieved" yata yata fix that and ill give it 5 stars!!! Pleaz!!!
Cool features
jessemawhinney 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I am not a huge yahoo fan but there are some cool features in this app and if you do use yahoo for messenger or email this app will be amazing for you. The best feature is the ability to look at all your social sites in one place and be able to update your twitter, facebook, and Myspace all on one post
Luv it!!
courtclerk8 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I love this app. Keeps me up to date on everything.
Good....but could be better!
Hazel13 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I really only got this app so that I could access my Yahoo calendar. Not bad...but I'd like to see 'month' as a view option, not just daily or weekly. Also would like to type in the event time using the keyboard and not have to dial through the times in 15 minute increments. Those are my only gripes so far!
Wish there was a 0 star option
Rickchard 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app advertises, no more opening, reopening and switching between apps. All this app does IS redirect you in and out of safari. And if the last page in safari redirected you to the yahoo app. The next time you open safari it redirect you to yahoo app again. Nothing but a pain. Does not do anything better than any other app.
Great First Version.
iLLussion 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I love having a native app for my favorite web portal. Much quicker to navigate from category to category than using safari, especially as I am still on edge. This program is not without some issues though, which I hope is due to the version being 1.0. Specifically I am very disappointed that the Market Summary does not work when I add it to "My Interests" but it does work fine if I go to "More>Finance"
Wowza!
AnabuttfaceL 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I like this app. Maybe on an update you can add the ability to get a buzz or something when an IM comes in,(instead of having to keep checking) and maybe the ability to know (buzz or ring... Something!) when you get an IM when the app is closed?
Good start

A Good Start
oracle_ab 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is a very well prepared app. Brings oneConnect features and so much more into one interface! There are some features and/or settings I won't use (redundant mail, weather, stocks, Y! Messenger, facebook, maps), but so far the only thing I can think of to add is to auto-refresh pages with updated info (or at least the ability to choose this as an option) vs tapping to update. (See USA Today's app for an example.). This won't be my default app for all things, but for those who'll utilize many of the features, this is the best app for them. Update: after using the app for a while, there are some improvements that could be made: 1) Y! Messenger needs to be equal to what the stand alone version is, 2) Y! Mail web interface should work via HTML 5 (see the new GMail and note that the iPhone and iPod touch don't utilize a number keypad), 3) aforementioned need to auto-refresh when updates occur and lose the "tap to refresh," 4)as another mentioned, Y! Answers with the ability to post and so forth is a must to help show off all of what Y! has in content, 5) show news articles within in browser in the app, 6) the ability to forward articles to other users from within the app, 7) articles, features should open in the internal web browser and send you to the external Safari only via the external link at the end if the article, and 8) internal web browser should load articles faster.

A great example of why Yahoo is struggling... the UI of this app is nice, but it's trying to do so much, and none of it is good enough.
YM please!
Sushi Pirate 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
i admit, google should come out with the iGoogle already with everything on it...JUST LIKE THIS ONE, but the downside is i dont really care much about the whole features, can they just come up with the Yahoo Messenger by itself? i mean AIM/AOL, has it.. why not yahoo??

Yahoo! It's Yahoo! For the iPhone/iPod touch! Yahoo!
Now it launches Safari?
Zappafan! 2.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
I loved this app. Started using it instead of Mail. But suddenly, instead of just showing Yahoo mail, it wants to launch Safari evry time, and this is a pain. No notice or explanation from Yahoo about this and apparently no way to avoid it. Arrrgh.
Mail
kcb8383 3.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
Please change the mail back to being inside the app instead of opening up safari. I can do that myself right in safari without going into the yahoo app. The only reason I use this app is to check my Yahoo Mail since I don't use it much anymore I only have spam in there and the mail part of the IPhone doesn't have the option to send it to spam.
If it's not broken don't fix it

I hate it now that is opens mail in Safari instead of inside the app. The old way was simpler, faster and all around better. This app is useless to me now.
Useless
Stray Lights 1.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
Totally useless app now that email opens in safari!
Why Safari?
tsmelker65 2.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
I thought this free app was a home run, until it started telling me I had to view my Yahoo Mail in Safari instead of just displaying it right in the app itself. Why 'fix' it if it wasn't broken? I thought it was a glitch- until I downloaded the updated version and discovered it still does this same stupid trick! It takes nearly 3 times as long (depending on your connection) to launch Safari to view my mail. If I wanted that, I would have used Safari in the first place and just ignored this app. And I don't like the new formatting for the Safari version of Yahoo Mail anyway. Yahoo needs to rectify this soon by reverting to "Mail within the App"; otherwise I'll delete this app and go back to Google mail. I can't imagine ANY Yahoo Mail user- hardcore or casual user- that is happy with this "fix". Pay attention to the desires of your users, Yahoo!
Mail in Safari?
Natbchicken 1.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
This is pointless if I have to open it up just to be redirected to Safari to open up mail! Are you kidding me? PLEASE PUT IT BACK!
Ruined a great app
Robinhooddaffy 1.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
This was a great app. With this latest upgrade they ruined it. Wants to install messenger and opens mail in safari. If I had paid for this, I would be asking for a refund. Is there any way to roll back to the previous version?
Yahoo blows it yet again
davidbaker.com 1.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
Stick with Google. Any app that passes you off to $h|tt¥ Safari is a loser. It didn't even hand off the username and password for mail, it asked me to reenter my info. Save yourself the time to install and then uninstall this POS. Just walk on by and go short Yahoo stock again.
Why would I want to go back to safari
HKX 1.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
It's just mobile news and if you want your email account through this app, it reopens to safari and goes through yahoo mobile. Might as well open yahoo through safari since mobile web pages are crap.
Annoying.
StupendousMan 1.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
Does this app have a built-in browser? Yes. So why do some links open in this Yahoo app and others open in Safari? There is no technical reason for having to leave this app to read an article. This is just silly. Yahoo, seriously - do you want people to use your app or not? It's a reasonable question because this app forces you to leave it and open Safari to read a lot of the content it presents. I WOULD USE THIS APP A LOT IF IT WASN'T CONSTANTLY SENDING ME TO SAFARI. Great potential but annoying app behavior.
It's not "fixed!"
Daddy Fat $ack$ 1.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
As of 3:48 pm CST today, this app will still send you to Safari! I just deleted and downloaded it again, so the problem is NOT repaired!!!

I don't understand, this was a good app and yahoo ruined it. Why do I need to go out to safari each time and open a new window. I have to close windows each time, royal pain! Yahoo, fix this please, no one likes the change!
Not very good

It took me a while to find a good app for yahoo. I was glad when I found this app...now, I'm looking again. It keeps telling me 'server not responding'. And, I don't like how it opens things in Safari. The app needs some work.
Go back

Great app, but it doesn't...
Stefanos Gatdoulos 3.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
...keep me logged in YahooIM when I close the App! Isn't there an option to stay logged In? After I close the app, my IM will log itself out momentarily. I haven't updated my iPhone to the 3.0 OS yet. Perhaps the new OS can fix that? Is this a common problem with anyone else? Thanks.
A little light on usefulness
Zpkat 2.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
This app is just silly. All I really wanted it for was mail, but that sends you out to Safari. Yes, you can hit the back button to go back to the Yahoo app, but since the rest of the Yahoo apps aren't that compelling, I may as well just look at Yahoo in Safari. I finally deleted the app, and created a Safari Home screen icon that links to the Yahoo mail web page. Solves the same problem with fewer screen taps. I'll maybe look at it again if they ever decide to make mail an actual part of the app.
