The Great Electronic Arts 99¢ Sale of 2010
Calendar16 Thu, 16 Dec 2010 12:23:29 UTC +00:00
It seems like whenever a holiday rolls around in the US, all of the major developers put their catalog of iOS games on sale in an effort to ride a wave of publicity into the top app charts. Electronic Arts is no stranger to this practice, and in observance of a very special holiday this Winter they have dropped a huge number of their games down to 99¢. Yes, that's right, EA is having a sale to celebrate forum moderator ImNoSuperMan's birthday. Just kidding. It's a Christmas sale. Or rather, a "Holiday" sale. Whatever the politically correct reason for this event is, the bottom line is that you can get a ton of EA games for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad for just a dollar each right now. (Note that some of these titles actually launched at 99¢, or have been that price for a while, but have been added to Read More

Yahtzee HD
Calendar16 Wed, 22 Sep 2010 04:20:31 UTC +00:00
Yahtzee is a classic game that really takes very little skill and instead provides some relaxing, mindless fun. It’s basically the opposite of games I love to play but you have to admit, it’s as addicting as gambling. Now a version of the classic has been released for the iPad and it is quite possibly one of the best video game versions of the dice classic I have ever seen. The game offers quite a bit of content with local multiplayer, an adventure mode, classic play and multiple versions of the game offered. Players can even unlock achievements and keep track of their statistics in-game. The art and sounds of the game are definitely polished and make for a truly enjoyable experience. Though I can’t say I really value the game as a worthwhile endeavour, it definitely has been created with some true attention to detail. The multiple game modes are Read More

by Game-maker Electronic Arts (EA) is selling a big chunk of its iPhone game library for just $0.99 per game for the next 48 hours — a steep discount for many of its titles which include Madden NFL 2010, FIFA 10 and SimCity. Not all of EA’s games are on sale, though. Sure, SimCity is $0.99, but [iTunes link] is still a steep $6.99, and while FIFA 2010 is just $0.99, the more timely [iTunes link] hangs at $2.99 — though that’s not a bad price, either. EA is one of the world’s biggest game publishers. Its EA Sports line of games is at the top of the heap, and franchises like The Sims, Mass Effect and Medal of Honor have at one time or another led in sales or influence. Increasingly, the company has extended those franchises to mobile devices like the iPhone. The full list of games on sale Read More

Calendar16 Tue, 22 Jun 2010 17:53:15 UTC +00:00
Electronic Arts produce some great games for the iPhone, however they’re never the cheapest on offer, but for the next 48 hours you could grab yourself some serious bargains, as EA have reduced 16 of their top games to $0.99/£0.59! The titles on offer are as follows, and clicking on a link will take you directly to iTunes. Many of these cost considerably more at launch, and titles such as Sim City, Need for Speed and Command & Conquer are certainly worth more than this low price given the polish those games have.  You have until midnight (US Eastern Time) on Wednesday 23rd June to download them for this price. We’ve picked up Battleship to add to our collection, how about you? Read More

EA Holding Massive $0.99 Sale for 48 Hours
Calendar16 Tue, 22 Jun 2010 14:04:00 UTC +00:00
EA is holding a massive $0.99 sale on over a dozen titles. The sale will only last 48 hours, so you have to act quickly. The games have been nicely organized by niezam into games that have never been $0.99 before, and ones that have (U.S. Links): $.99 for the first time $.99 once or several time before While all the games are good values for only $0.99, we'd probably say Need for Speed: Shift is the "must get" game from the list. It has frequently been cited as one of the best racing games for the iPhone, so it's a good one to have. So, I wrote iTunes (reported a problem) when I received my bill. And even though the game's info says that it's in English, and it's not, I was told that there is nothing that they can do for me, that the 'functionality of the game is Read More

EA Games hits hard on December 22nd, bringing out a total of 24 games on sale, while the Appvent Calender offers up "Sponge Dude." Christmas is quickly approaching, and sadly, so is the end of many of these deals. But don’t despair yet, because the sales just keep rolling in. Namco just kicked off their “winter sale” yesterday, and EA is back in the game, too! At least this is a nice surprise from EA! EAMobile just sent out two tweets saying, “The following titles will be up to 50% off for the rest of the holiday season! Happy Holidays everyone! Boggle, Madden 10, NBA Live, Rock Band, Surviving High School, Wolfenstein RPG, American Idol, and more!” “And more?” Shockingly, that “and more” includes the likes of Scrabble, Tetris, and Need for Speed: Shift. Mysteriously, some titles that were supposed to stay at $0.99 ’til Christmas are now at higher prices Read More

could have and SHOULD have been better...but it's NEVER too late EA!
Coloursound 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
First off, I have supported the efforts of EA so far on the ipod touch. I loved Tetris, Sudoku, and Scrabble. Spore is just OK, but not even close to as good as the other games I mentioned.
Could be better
photodart 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
With the amazing graphics of Motion X poker, I was really hoping for the dice in Yahtzee to have some movement and excitement. Although the Yahtzee is a well put together game, they REALLY missed the mark with the static dice. Make the dice play like Motion X and you have a 5 star game.
All Hype, No Bite
Runner's High 2.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
I suspect that all these reviews are EA people. Have any of these guys looked at MotionX Dice or MotionX Poker? This is a straight port of the iPod game. Sad... EA you should be better than that!
Sorry I ever bought this piece of junk.
mnogrady 1.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
When you play you better not hit a wrong button. It just goes on and doesn't allow you to correct or wait for you to press continue. I have yet to play a whole game that hasn't been ruined by this. The buttons are so close together that hitting a wrong one is too easy. There is not setting to allow either a change in button pressed or a wait tell going on. It's junk and when I tried to contact EA support, at the web site listed, they don't even have a touch/iphone part to their site and want ridiculous information. Overall I am as unimpressed with this as with almost all EA products
Great Polished Yahtzee and they step it up a notch too
mrbass.org 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
In addtion to classic mode Yahtzee it has battle mode 2, 3, or 4 players CPU. Of course you can play against humans too, just hand device around...no wifi though. Battle mode each starts with 100 points and you try to elminate your opponent(s). Max is 100 you can ever have. Upper 1,2,3,4,5,6 gives you points (health). Lower 3x,4x,fullhouse, small straight, large straight attack your opponent. Chance is rolled on and it could either attack or give you health and possibly backfire (called poison).
I love Yahtzee, so I'm happy!
LordMeg 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
Great game, I love Yahtzee and I'm thrilled it's finally out on iPhone. I really like the adventure mode in this game where you travel around the world and play Yahtzee against different characters, very fun. Unfortunately, the graphics in motionX have really ruined me for anything else with dice and this seems a little plain in comparison. If there was a half-star I'd give this four and a half. This will probably be the game I play the most and for the longest period of time on my iPhone. If you like Yahtzee, get this game!
Really disappointing!
wewmac 2.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
I was very disappointed in this game, especially coming from EA. I was hoping for something like a yahtzee version of MotionX Poker but this is not even close. I also find it really hard to play since sometimes it interprets a tap to hold a die as a shake and you effectively blow that turn. Now that I bought it I doubt I will ever play it again.
So so game
RMS 2.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
It crashes. It has a slow start up. And the characters are simply stupid. What about plain old YAHTZEE!!
Should be better
sarah sylvia stout 2.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
This game is okay, but for $5, I excepted more. I know $5 isnt much, but there are so many excellent games for free/$.99, and those offer far more than this. The graphics and sounds are average at best and they don't even track high scores! That's such a basic feature. This is the first EA game I've bought, and I probably won't buy anything else from them (unless they put out an update fast.) I have no idea why EA would think this is a finished game at a fair price.
Incredible
gamer 123 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
I love this game, the fact that you can shake the iphone and roll the dice is SOOOO COOL!! I thought it was just a yahtzee game but the Adventures game play option is really an excellent add on. This is a MUST BUY!!!
Meh
Mikie0590 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
Ya know, THIS was the app I had been waiting for since the store's launch. Maybe I had too high expectations, but I am dissapointed. I feel the game was better on my old LG. I do not like this Yagtzee guru guy floating around or the fact if I go to the home screen in the middle if a game it starts a brand new game when I open it again. That, with lack of multiple high score saves us where the game falls for me. However, I love the multiple game options and the shake option. Plus, hell, it's still freakin Yahtzee. So, that's just my opinion.
Finally!
jecebn 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
I've been waiting for this app to be released- everything I was hoping for
Best handheld out there
IcarusWings 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
First let me comment on people complaining about inadvertant roll's. There's a thing called SETTINGS. Just turn the shaking sensitivity down or off. Taadaa. No more accidental roll's. This is by far the best handheld version of yahtzee. My dad has a Treo phone with Palm software and he prefers mine 10x over his. Smooth game and nice graphics. bottom line, if you like yahtzee you'll love this.
Finally Yahtzee on the iPhone!!
Burton rules! 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
I've been waiting for this since the App store opened!!! Great game, just needs the cool realistic looking dice like MotionX.. Any chance of an update with real looking dice?
Love the variety of ways to play yahtzee!
ShannonLPN 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
Loved:
Great time waster
J-- 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
Very polished and a lot of fun. I booted the clones off my phone. This is the one. Loses one star because of the lack of real rolling animation and physics like Motion-X Poker, which would have made it perfect.
Wave your hands and yell Yahtzee!
Hmmwhoisthis 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
Solid game. Could be more polished and flashy, but gameplay is true and new modes are worth playing. I've been waiting for this game and I'm happy with what I got for $5
Expected more from EA
mmccullo 2.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
Somewhat disappointed in game even at sale price. Graphics are relatively bland and the adventure storyline is boring. If a call interrupts, you must restart game from the intro screen with the repetitious preference question regarding Music/FX and splash screen (but the game in progress is saved). I do not like how the scoring summary flashes and redraws in single player mode as it serves no purpose in that context and is distracting. Would like a more detailed high scores summary with perhaps top 10 scores.
Could be so much more
Zach Z 2.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
I bought this game for $3 and think it's a good deal but for $5 no way. There is no real yahtzee you have to battle some stupid made up character and the way to roll the dice is also stupid. First, the you can't even see the dice numbers just pop up make it like motionX. Second, it's way to sensetive to roll it is impossible to play in a car because the smallest bump you hit will roll the dice. If you fix these things it will be a 5 star app.
Great game but needs work
Big Play Clay 2.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
I love the game. The graphics and setup is great. Unfortunately, it locks up in adventure mode nearly every time I play. I have to forfeit and start over. Please fix it because it's fun.
Pretty bad
MSV_Apocalypse 1.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
My first impression of this game is that it's pretty bad. I don't think anyone bothered play testing it before it was released. There's stupid things, like your name can only be 6 characters??!? And it doesn't respond to the volume and mute controls on your iPhone. Instead it asks if you want sound or not when you launch it then ignores the controls there after. Stupid. The default sensitivity for the "rolling" is wayyyy too high. If you're walking while you're playing, lookout, it's going to assume you don't want to keep any of the dice and roll three times in rapid succession. Just awful. I'd recommend buying "5 Dice" instead of this. It's a much better Yahtzee game.
Yahtzee Lover
Sweet_Tart_ 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
I found this to be a fun app. The only thing is I beat it pretty fast. I think it could have used a few more levels but its good cause it has the 2 player option and there was a new game called battle that I've never played before. I'd get it while it's on sale!!! I paid 5 I think 2 or 3 would have been better. Hopefully, they'll add more levels in an update or something!!!????
Has anyone else noticed...
Lancezilla 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.30
When playing the computer, I have noticed that the rolls are the same for me and my opponent. I hope this is just a bug, as I have reported this to EA. If this cannot be fixed, I will lower my rating accordingly.
