Then as I walked out, I pulled up Amazon and purchased them with 1-click for my Kindle app. Within approximately 90 seconds I had the books in my hand, and for cheaper than the bookstore price. T-Mobile is teaming-up with Yelp to preload their mobile app on select Android smartphones, including the Samsung Exhibit II 4G, T-Mobile myTouch and T-Mobile myTouch Q. But that’s not all, T-Mobile customers get a customized version of the application that comes with some additional features like advanced filters that make searching for a business easier and faster. Moreover, there is a new “saved search” functionality, which allows users to save search filter settings (e.g. open now, free wifi, price range, and outdoor seating) and use the same criteria over and over without having to re-enter the specific filters. To help promote this new initiative, the two companies will run an integrated marketing campaign in select markets such as Austin, Denver, Detroit, Honolulu and Sacramento. A few of those are pretty self-explanatory, and one of them you just need to see to believe. Since the launch, the company said it has seen on average a 50% growth month to month on check-ins, although it doesn’t say how many users that entails. Worth Reading? The Yelp app has had the ability for users to check in at their hotel for a while now, but there was no real compelling reason for folks to use that feature. A compelling reason may have finally landed for some. Yelp has added the ability for users to get discounts nearby the hotel when checking-in using the app. Only the Android app supports the feature as of now thanks to an update that went out late yesterday. The idea is that checking-in using the app would allow the app to know where you are and then the user could get discount offers from local businesses. That would be things like check-in on a vacation and get a discount offer for dinner at an eatery up the street. In a slightly odd twist, you can’t actually publish the written reviews from your phone and instead have to submit the already-written review from a regular computer. Since then, the app has been steadily updated with new features and options for Yelp users, and today, version 1.4 is being released with even more updates. Yelp for the iPhone introduced Check-ins back in January and while the Android app doesn’t have that (yet — Yelp says it is coming soon), the new additions are still pretty cool. All I want from the Yelp app is to be able to sort places by highest ratings and most reviewed places, just like the website does with filters and it can't even do this?! Wowzers!! When I first found yelp I was impressed and loved it. But as I kept using it I found how many places it leaves out of your search. Plus the spam emails if you don't edit your account settings suck. The biggest prob is all the good places it leaves out. Good established reputable places that just won't show up when using it.

This app is well developed and seemingly well received by businesses around the country, however I do see a problem pattern that exists with Yelp: some businesses can be listed needlessly as separate entities, when only one exists! Also, I would be much happier with a default setting for how to look up businesses. I don't want the best match, I usually want what is closest to me, regardless of if I'm checking in or doing some research. Aside from those few flaws I am happy with the app.

I really hate the fact that I can't just post my review from my portable device. I also do not like the editor because it is just one fixed rectangular box, instead it should flow as long as my review like it does on the Gmail app. I also don't like the fact they hard coded the theme to be the ones used in 2.x rather than adjusting to the device.

Hopefully the newness will wear off. Had the 'shroom burger. Burger was cooked well, but, served on a cold bun with cold mushrooms. I ordered rare and got it. But so did my husband with the "Goodfella".Italian sausage should not be served pink. Prices are a bit steep 25.00 for 2 burgers, shared fries, & 2 drinks. Going to wait to revisit. .

I love the monocle. It's pretty fun. Everything is great, sometimes my gps thinks I'm too far away, when I'm in the lobby of the place I'm checking into, but eventually it re-triangluates me in the right spot! Easy to upload photos, and review, if you want.

They are just better at throwing out the disgruntled former employees attempt at revenge and the corporate fictional 5 star reviewer describing the jiffy lube like it was a faith altering epiphany and a 10% off coupon for a transmission flush. I frequently look to Yelp for reviews and directions to restaurants and attractions in unfamiliar cities I travel to. It's also a great app to rediscover the city I've lived in most of my life! Know a really great way to express your frustration (in a healthy way) when you have really bad service, and want everyone to know about it? Write a review on Yelp! On the flip-side, if you want everyone to know about a GREAT place, write a Yelp review. Love this app.

Not all restaurants listed. Monocle is useless, it guesses where phone is pointed and you can't read what it finds anyway. Crashes too often and works too slowly to be useful. Better to just use their website.

I have been yelping for years and this app has been an extra layer of helpful info to help you not only find reviews, but to have access to phone businesses, navigation for directions and adding photos. Very fast and it allows you to "check in" vs other social apps. The only downside is that your personal messages are not viewable vs the internet version.

Like: checkins create a "to do" list for future reviews, and I can start a review from the phone. Meh: checkins can take a while but aren't as pokey as Google Places. An auto-checkin function like Google's (plug in to Google's API?) would be nice.

I love check-in deals. This app is so helpful finding places to eat and see. Great for the big cities! It'd be nice if they did some more caching for check-ins though, similar to foursquare. If I'm out and I'm looking for a restaurant or bar within waking distance, I pull my trusty phone out and yelp starts firing off suggestions. Seriously though the map UX is really smooth and it packs a lot of info in an easy to get to way.

Have been using it now for about 3 more and it regularly gives me some type of error or force closes. I have an LG Ally so its not the latest Droid platform but still this app is unreliable very regularly. Most annoying is the photo upload almost always crashes. Pluses: you can find places relatively quick and you can draft reviews (though you have to go online to finish the posting process).

Yelp helps me make better decisions with restaurants no matter where I am. I now know little things about places around me like when to go to a local pizza joint for a good deal. Was a 5 until I found out they "filter" undesirable reviews for those companies that pay to advertise with them. When one of my reviews was filtered, I looked at the company profile, 9 of the 12 reviews were filtered, all negative. Way to go yelp! Deleting the app, not using the site anymore. Not trustworthy if you can just buy your rating.

"Check in" feature.takes a bafflingly long.time to locate you even in a 4G area, check-in often will not pull up the name.of.the establishment you are actually *in*, forcing you to go to the top.level to find the name.of the biz (which of course comes up in 3 seconds), and there can be frequent connection/network problems on various carriers (not mine, 99% of the time) HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon.

Such a handy app to have on my phone. I think the Android version also needs access to the forums or "talk" section of the site and the ability to see lists and more than users most recent 15 reviews or quick tips. Whatever capabilities the iPhone has, Android needs the same. There should also be an ability to post reviews from your phone and there needs to be an improvement on viewing drafts as well as it isn't possible to scroll and therefore easily edit from the app.

Use it on a daily basis. But I second what Stacy said. You can't log in with this app to review a place. You have to log in on the desk top version of Yelp to be able to write a review. Then have to chase down and spend more time looking for whatever you were wanting to review. I hate wasting my time and one of the reason I don't take the time to review places. Too many steps to get started.

And when I go to the trouble to write a review, it either don't show up, or it shows up as a draft instead of as a review. There are a handfu of great things about this app. Everything from bookmarking your favorites, finding nearby places and keeping track of your recent visits. I'm not a fan of not being able to write and save a review right from my phone or that when they decided to change the Duke methodology it cleared out some of my check ins. Google places is much more accurate and functions more easily. A recent example is that I looked up coffee shops and chose the clostest one 2.7 miles. Not bad. It was actually over 6 miles. Why lie? Makes no sense.

I love love love yelp. Not only can u check in, look at reviews, leave reviews and find placeu didnt even know existed! However the Droid makes EXWXTREMELY difficult to find places and to check in :( itbecomes frustrating at times. Used to use my iPhone to check in with instead of my droid, but now that's not an iption. But I'm possitive it will come around :)

Update: connectivity issue (see below) still a problem, but now, also... What kind of retarded algorithm is currently assigning dukedoms? How is it I can have the most check-ins, the most recent activity & the most overall activity at a location & not be the Duke? Is there any rationale at all or is it just completely random?... "Sorry, there's a problem connecting to the network" Does this error message look familiar? I see it all the time now after the most recent updates. Even when I have screamin' strong signal or am on home WiFI & am at point blank range from my wireless router, I get this horrendously annoying error message. WTF? Every other app manages to find the data it needs to work, but my Yelp app just flounders. Yeah, I loved this app when it was working, but "Sorry, there's a problem connecting to the network" gets real old, real fast. FIX IT!!!!!

Redesign of app is good and works well. App seems faster and more responsive overall. Only major issue is that it that each time I click back to view another listing/business the list auto reloads. Reload takes forever but it uses more data and battery life. Issue is especially prevalent when viewing bookmarks. This needs to be fixed ASAP. Also Changes to the check in system are bad and do not follow Yelps own rules, there was nothing wrong with the old way. Needs direct posting of reviews.

Before the last update, I could use Google maps for finding directions to places I found via yelp. Now, it keeps defaulting to some app called footprints I've never used before. It errors out and doesn't help me at all. I can't find anywhere in the yelp app settings to set my preferred map/gps app. I thought there was such a setting in previous revisions. Please release a version with this setting, or just make it default to Google maps. Then it'll be a 5 star app again.

There is room for improvement, though; a renewed focus on accuracy and completeness of basic info (location, hours, etc.) would be nice, rather than emphasizing social features in a losing battle with Facebook. I'm more interested in accurate information and aggregate reviews than in just my friends' opinions--a lot of them have poor taste, anyway!

This is a good app, but unlike the online yelp, you cannot filter by the # of reviews, since this often how I search for restaurants. It's a good indicator since it shows the place is at least popular enough to be reviewed by many people. Please add this function to the app!

CAN'T upload any pixel from my gallery to this thing. What's wrong..plz help someone anyone..tips appreciated. I love those appreciate. But not digging that and the fact I have to use GPS to just look at reviews for restaurants. N they also need to check times of restaurants. Somenof the closing time are so inaccurate by hours even. I get there to late bcuz yelp says they close at a certain time which is fake. And I still can't submit reviews,like my pixel on mobile app. 1 star

It won't let me create an account without uploading a picture, however, no matter what picture I choose, it says "failed to upload picture, please try later. " Been trying for days. Forget it.
