Back in September developers Krabl and FDG Entertainment released the follow-up to the quirky platform puzzler Ynth [$2.99] titled Beyond Ynth [$2.99/HD]. The game used some interesting mechanics, tasking the player with rotating boxes of various sizes and shapes in order to get Kribl, the protagonist bug in the game, to the end of each level. Beyond Ynth had a wonderful art style with Retina Display graphics, clever level designs, and unique gameplay, all of which we noted in our review. About the only thing we didn't like was the oft-frustrating trial and error aspect of the game, something that was mostly remedied with a nifty rewind feature that was introduced in an update last month. Now, in lieu of a proper lite version of Beyond Ynth, the developers are following in the footsteps of Angry Birds Seasons [99¢/HD] and Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift [Free] and have released a free Read More
is a new puzzler by FDG Entertainment, who is no stranger to the App Store, having published titles like , Kryzer, and Parachute Panic. It is the official successor to Ynth, which was released over a year ago by krabl.com. In Beyond Ynth, you play as Kribl, a ladybug sent by the queen of Kriblonia on a quest to retrieve the diamonds scattered by the four dark spiders of the apocalypse. In order to do so, you must travel through wooden mazes, dodge obstacles and collect diamonds whenever possible. The concept behind Beyond Ynth’s gameplay is certainly unique. It mainly consists of Kribl pushing against wooden boxes from within in order to move along. There are many hindrances that will try to squish, trap, freeze, melt, and incinerate you. There are also boxes, blocks, and acorns that you have to push out of the way so that you can reach the diamonds. It Read More
Just a little more than a year ago, indie developer Krabl released a quirky puzzle platforming game with interesting mechanics titled Ynth [$2.99]. You controlled a tiny bug who rotated boxes from the inside in order to traverse a hazardous marshland. In our review of Ynth, we noted that the game was clever with cute graphics and plenty of content, but the trial and error factor of completing levels could be really frustrating. Now, Krabl and FDG Entertainment have collaborated to bring a sequel to the original game called Beyond Ynth [$3.99/HD]. It still retains some of the frustration factors of the first game but also expands on it in every way and ends up being a fun puzzler with a tremendous amount of content. Beyond Ynth uses beautiful graphics that are optimized for Retina Display. An illustrated story with voiceovers explains the tale of the main character, the tiny bug Read More
Ynth Review: ‘Murder’ By Killer Simplicity
Calendar16 Tue, 27 Oct 2009 18:41:39 UTC +00:00
This next game is one we’ve long put off reviewing. With its latest update, we can’t help but get this review out immediately. The original version of this simplistic puzzle game just left you hanging with minimal instructions. Now with hints, OpenFeint integration and even more puzzles, we can officially say Ynth is one killer elegant game! Presentation As the story goes, on a family trip, small red bug Kribl (you) got hit by a vicious wind gust and was carried far away to a spooky Marshland. You must find a way out of this ghost town. You move by moving and/or rotating them. Ynth is a 2D game, with simple graphics, though they get the job done. You as the bug, must move inside the box and push it so it rotates. To top it all off, krabl opted for no music but rather wooden box beats as you move which Read More

diference is cool!

so I TOFTT and was mad suprised at how good this game is. from the start, this game is about a beetle trapped in a box that you control to safely move the beetle to the other side. aside from the price tag (4.99$), this game has bits and pieces from a platform game, a hyper puzzle game. timing is key in most places as things fall from the sky that try to make you ded. tons of levels are available and more to DL later on. try the light version, but I gaurantee that the full version will be perfect for most people ghat love casual but thinking games.
A MUST-BUY !!!

It is so hard to come with an original idea. even when you do, it's very hard to translate it inot a game. but even if you do that, what are the odds that people will like it?
One of the best puzzlers out there..
5DUC29 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This game is awesome! Love the music and the gameplay. Truly one of the best puzzle games out there, others being The Plateau and Blocked. In addition, this game is well crafted. Though this can be frustrating, i find myself enjoying it too much. This and Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor are definitely worth checking out; both are well crafted with amazing gameplay.
Very Cool!

This is a COOL game! If you enjoy puzzle games that are unique, try your patience and give you that feeling of accomplishment when you finally complete a level, you NEED Ynth. Fun game, highly recommended.
Fun fun fun!

Love it, a must get.
A lot of potential but way too frustrating to play as is
crsrc 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is a very well made game that has a lot of potential but in its current form it is just too frustrating to play. About 90% of the time that you lose a level it is for something you have absolutely no control over. It is just too frustrating to time and time again get near the end of a level and then die because you are just unlucky. Luck should have no play in this type of game.
Forces you to think out of the box

Unique, surprising, addicting…three words that really sum up Ynth. I’ll tell you that I wasn’t sold when I first saw the screenshots for this game. In fact, it did nothing for me until I actually started playing with it. “Hidden gem” would seem to apply here, but the phrase can be a double-edged sword because while it means that this is a solid and entertaining platform/puzzle game, it also alludes to the fact that no one is paying it particular attention. As with Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor, Ynth is a highly original game deserving of attention and success with its imaginative and engaging gameplay.
Ynth, Awesome Game With An Awesome Name
Eggzbacon 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
In Ynth, you play as a ladybug who needs to go across a marsh using boxes.
Amazing action/puzzle game!
Drelbs23 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
One of the most unique games I have yet to play on the iPhone / iPod Touch, this game involves moving your bug from one end of the level to the other.
Intresting
dorcino 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Strange and wierd, but a good puzzle game.
Excellent puzzler
incognitofemme 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
The graphics are understated here but the draw of this game is the gameplay. This is an ace puzzle/strategy game that will give many hours of play trying to figure how to get to the other side while avoiding the dangers.
Great hidden treasure of a game.
VictorStar 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I disagree with the previous reviewer that stated he was loosing due to forces beyond his control. You control every movement of this game except for the falling fruit. Those you will have to deal with and sometimes they will win. You can't always just flop from side to side to move around. Often it takes a fine touch to get everything to fall into place. This is a great game. Get the lite version and you'll understand. Thank you.
A gem
d.r.a. 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I did not buy this game initially because the graphics looked too simplistic to me. However, when it went on sale, I thought I'd give it a try. I was immediately hooked by the puzzles, and have now spent many hours with this game. It is a hidden gem in the app store, and any person with a faint interest in these type of games should pick it up.
loving this game

frustrating when i'm too stupid to pass a level, but in the end it's still great. rare little gem
Challenging Game!
Joejoe1966 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I love this game, but some levels are too dang hard. Some levels like Prom Nite have nothing to do with puzzle solving abilities because you are running for your life from too many spiky fruits that fall from the sky. I think it detracts from the beautifully designed game play. But it's an extremely well thought out game. Update: some of the levels are too dependent upon luck. You can do all the right things and still have spiky fruits crash your party. As the levels become more complex, it's too dependent upon the roll of the dice. It's still an awesome game. This game also needs an option to turn off the vibrate after every time the little guy doesn't make it. It becomes extremely annoying as the game play becomes more difficult. I see that an easy mode to disable the fallen fruits is in a future update. That's a good idea. Otherwise this wonderful little game will become just another boutique game which will never gain critical mass. Kudos to the designers for some of the puzzle. It's totally sick (in a good kind of way). I'm determined to finish all the stages in the current hardcore mode.
Totally FUN
Honey Sparkles 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is a great puzzle game! Though it has no music to distract you, it does have very cute FEET sounds, plopping seeds, blubs of mud, and of course the squish sounds of both YOU and other things that get squished. The graphics are simple but perfect. And if you get too stuck on a level it allows you to skip it. A big plus, due to falling seeds that squish you or fall into your box! Can you tell you get squished a lot?? But it's so addicting!! Maybe in the future they could have option to have things "stick" like the spike balls, or an option to cut out the spikes. Because even without the spike balls dropping on, in, on top - some of the levels are hard by themselves. Another good thing - they mix the levels! You don't always get hard then harder..sometimes its very hard then the next level is super easy!! Gives your brain, and your stress level a break. This game is a BIG PLUS on my Itouch. You need to buy this game, it is more than worth the hours of play.
Best 1.99 I've ever spent!
Imaredwine 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
If you like challenging puzzles this is the game for you. Just when you think you've got the level beat...plop comes the fruit. This really is a great...addictive...game. Kudos to the maker! Oh the sounds and graphic are smoother and cute too. I love it! ~chianti
How can something be so painful, yet so fun?
Ace-of-Spades 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I love this game. I want to give it a big hug.
Amusing puzzler
PantonicLife 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
First off, let me say that there are a ton of levels to play. That along with the time challenge gives players a lot of replay value. Other than that, the game has a simple concept and is done very well as the levels get more complex. Both challenging and amusing, for puzzle lovers and design aesthetic minded gamers, I highly recommend Ynth.
Best puzzler hands down
