Mobile/social game giant Zynga has made four more acquisitions in mobile gaming, having already picked up quite a few iOS and mobile development companies in the past. This time around, the biggest pickup is a company from Germany named Gamedoctors, makers of the very popular ZombieSmash title. Page44 Studios is the second purchase. They did work on the also very popular mobile version of World of Goo (though Page44 isn't the actual developer of the original game; that's 2D Boy). Hiplogic and Astro Ape Studios are the last two purchases, each with their own libraries of a few mobile titles. Zynga is building up quite a library of mobile developers and their titles, though we're not actually sure why yet. A mega-huge update is coming to Zombie Smash and Zombie Smash HD [$1.99 / HD] a little later this April. Like the developers, I hesitate to call this a standard “update.” It’s more like a total overhaul with an added second campaign. For you iPhone 4 owners out there, Game Doctors is adding in new, high-resolution visuals for device’s beefier screen. Also, look forward to some new technical wizardry via parallax scrolling effects and even a new soundtrack. Also, if you rock enough, you’ll earn some Game Center achievements along the way. At first glance, ZombieSmash reminded me a lot of Knights OnRush, which required you to defend a fortified position by picking up and flicking enemies. All of the enemies die in entertaining, ragdoll physics-y ways, and I can honestly say that decapitation has never looked so cute. Like the folks who make Terry’s Chocolate Orange, the developers at GameDoctors have smashing great taste. That is the key part in why this title has done so well(at least in my eyes), along with the extensive amount of gameplay available. To take down the zombies you must touch them and fling them up in the air. The higher you throw them, the more damage they're dealt when they land. When you turn the iPhone in landscape mode, you're thumbs are on both sides of the screen, so tossing up zombies left and right one after another plays out really well. I've played a lot of tower defense games and after looking at the screenshots I didn't think it would work right. However after playing it for only 15 minutes I was hooked. I had heard a lot about ZombieSmash on Twitter over the past few weeks, but even after I took a look at the YouTube trailer, I still didn’t feel interested enough to take a bite, or even ask for a review code. Then I saw it on sale this past weekend and realized what an Idiot I’d been — ZombieSmash is fantastic! I’ll be working on a review for the coming week, but I’m not sure how long this $0.99 sale is going to last, and if you even remotely like zombie or TD games, then you’ll want to pick this up. Zombie Smash es un título que tiene a partes iguales momentos gores, divertidos y entretenidos. Si, si, gores. Besides ZombieSmash’s quirky story already going for it, this game isn’t your one dimensional castle defense game. Along with the great graphics and soundtrack, ZombieSmash’s ability to switch gameplay modes as you play keeps you at the edge of your seat! Presentation For starters, this is NOT your average castle defense game. As the title hints, you’re defending yourself from teh zombies. Zombiesmash Is one of those games that takes a familiar formula, in this case castle defense, and finds the secret ingredient that was missing from all of its competition. remember how much better half life 2 was when havoc physics got involved? well, welcome to Castle defense 2.0. not to mention all of the awsome weapons extras and.... sorry.. i think i hear something moaning outside my door... yup... more zombies... gotta go teach them newtons law...COMING DOWN!!!....

Here's another app review forum that screams out "these reviews are fake!"There are a lot of telltale signs that indicate false reviews on these forums. By "false" I mean that there are many identities from many friends/family members that post five-star reviews. This is one of those forums riddled with fake fivers. Oh, and, no, I won't share the secrets...but it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure it out. As for the app, it's a very boring watered-down version of Pocket God. I played Sandbox, which gives you three weapons to use, but you must click a square and then the zombie each time you want to bring out a zombie to kill. I played Campaign, but it has no weapons. The zombies walk into the scene on their own, but you must tediously throw around zombies and click stars to reach some kind of goal. The first time I played, I earned land mined almost immediately. But then later, the rocks are impossible to gain, no matter how many times you tap it. The second time I played, I continuously tossed zombies and clicked stars with no reward, whatsoever. It's as if there's no rhyme or reason to "winning" the game. In fact, I haven't even figured out what it takes to lose. Too many zombies not killed in time?The backgrounds are "stage-style", similar to a photo enlarged just enough to move around a little. You must click a square before you can move the scene. And what's with the "camcorder" slo-mo effect? That's just annoying when trying to play the game. Oh, of course you can always buy ammo, zombies and such. Ever since Apple added the in-app feature, DEVS have gone nuts satisfying their greedy nature...not just the DEVS of this app. It's just too common these days: "Everyone else is doing it...I might as well charge for extras, too!"These free apps aren't necessarily free. It's like stores giving a free plate so the recepients will buy more. Otherwise, the free plate is meaningless. The graphics are ok. There's a gore option for the young and/or squeamish. You can select red bloody gore, not-so-gruesome green blood, or no blood at all. The gore doesn't bother me, but it's a great feature to include for small kids. If you enjoy aimlessly throwing around ragdolls, you may enjoy this app. But the majority are going to find it boring.
